    I always feel conflicted when I give a "thumbs up" to a video with a serious accident that could have cost several people their lives. But the fact that the tow truck driver got out, and the truck driver survived, that definitely warrants a thumbs up!

      you thumbs up a video when it shows you what happened. If you don't want to see the truck go over the edge, THEN DON'T CLICK THE VIDEO. LOL
      Clicking the video means you want to see it. The thumbs up means the video delivered as promised. Only a jerk clicks to see something, and then thumbs it down because they saw what the title said they would see...and they didn't like it.

Minimum markings should be M+S with 3 peak mountain flake with threads of at least 5 mm thread depth is compulsory. There was a truck one winter that crashed and the drivers were sleeping inside the truck one Christmas after the owner told them to manage themselves until the new year.
      Locals in the town got together and put them up from Christmas to New Year so they would not freeze to death.
      There have been horror stories in the news with trucks being fitted with magnets and other gear to cheat the recorder in the truck that monitors the drivers. Some of these were done professionally so one can imagine it was the company that was behind this.
      The Eastern European drivers are paid very badly even though they drive in Norway. These are not drivers but slaves.
      I got talking to a driver in 2005 and got to know that he was being paid 4 euro an hour by a Danish company Kims Transport. When I did not believe him he showed me his pay slip. Same time I was paid 18 euros.

      Trucks bringing goods from other countries are a constant problem in the winter in Norway. The truck being towed was from Lithuania. They are never on the correct tyres or have chains and are constantly being pulled over for such driving offenses. Their drivers don't have experience on the snowy mountain roads either. I don't think the company 'Faulk' will even tow trucks that are on poor tyres or without chains anymore. They have to wait for a flatbed to come get them. The tow truck driver was at the mercy of the driver behind him being able to control his truck. They were both damn luckly. I hope the Lithuanian driver is now a taxi driver in Tallin and never gets behind a heavy truck ever again.

      He literally had enough grip to tow a semi up a hill.. The accident happened because the semi braked for some reason, which made it slide out. The semi had summer tires on and was the only vehicle without proper tires. Foreign semis (this guy was Lithuanian) driving around on Norwegian winter roads with poor tires is a major problem in Norway, they get stuck constantly all winter.
      The whole thing could also have been avoided if the semi driver put his chains on. He had them in sealed bags but didn't tell the tow truck driver that he even had them, because if he used them he would have to pay his employer.

    • @odomn

      @@Brukernavnn I am from oregon. big mountains with deep snow in winter. Nothing compared to Norway. But you must have chains available on the truck to drive on the freeways from Nov to April. There are steep fines for not chaining up even when there is little snow on the road. Still, we slavic people are champions at trying to get away with breaking the rules. If you buy the chains in the fall but don't use them you can return them for refund in spring. Not smart in this case. Used to take me about 2 hours to chain up 5 tires. Now I know tricks and can get it done in less than 20 minutes. Truck driver very unwise to not chain up, but I still say tow driver also should have had chains on. One last question. Is it not cheaper to pay for chains than to pay for a tow? Here chains cost about $300, a tow about $1000.

    • @pulaski1
      @pulaski1 Před 3 lety

      With the operative word being "a" - so _one_ crash. No vehicle is designed to protect the occupant(s) as it bounces down a hillside impacting the ground several times, i.e. multiple crashes. Also there is a real risk that one of the bounces, perhaps the last one, could be the vehicle slamming into the ground upside down, which would likely flatten the roof, because vehicles are not designed to fall 50-100 meters or more and then slam into the ground on their roof. Jumping out of a vehicle after it has "gone over the edge" might be a bad idea, by it is not correct to say that a vehicle falling down a steep hillside is "designed to help you survive" (from that sort of accident).
