I have some questions: To edit this template do they need to have canva pro as well ?
How to select that which part is editable and which is not ?
@@cyberwolfron980 as long as you do not use Canva pro elements they can edit the template with the free version. You cannot choose what can or cannot be edited on the template. It will not affect your original though as long as you share the template link!
Do those that buy my templates need Canva to work on it? Will they be required to sign up.

I thank you so much I've been trying to figure out how to do this for the last month I've been running my store. I just gave up and have been manually emailing each person after they make a purchase with the link and I swear to God I spend more time doing that than I do at my full-time job I was to the point where I was about to just shut down my store this morning even though it's bringing me in very very good money I watched so many videos but yet they never explain how to do it so I said I'mma watch one last video which was yours and I finally got it.

When I went to actually do it I was a little confused because Canva moved things around a bit, or either my site needs to be updated, nonetheless it got done. 😃
@@WendyJoDavis I edited my designs with Canva Pro, I sent to my niece and she was able to view and edit but there was a Canva watermark. She said she didn’t have the Pro version though. Is that why?
I just listed my first two templates on Etsy and I don’t want any issues from customers.

Personally I would do one for each listing. In Canva I keep a folder of each of my listings. In it I include listing photos, the actual products as well as the thank you letter!

If you are uploading an image to Etsy the max file size is 20mb...so really small. Pretty much everything I sell gets stored in my Google Drive unless it is a canva template link. Than I create the thank you letter, link up to everything and just attach that to my listing. I hope that makes sense!

Thank you for this short and helpful video! I do have a question though: with the template, are they able to edit the photos to add their own? Also, if they only have the free version of canva, can they edit the fonts if I use one from canva pro? Or would they only have the free fonts available to them?
Hi! Yes they can edit the photos to make them their own! If they have the free version they can edit the fonts, but if you use a pro font they would have to pay Canva to use that font or substitute it with a free one!

Great info! Quick question, if you create a file that is 5x7 and you want to put 2 per page landscape if they print on a 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper…what is easiest way to format for with standard pdf or editable file?
If it’s not something that they will need to edit I would set it up on a pdf!

They did an update and I believe it’s now in the right menu. Click the up arrow and then along the top of that menu there is a template link available!
Does this still work if I did the free trial & What if it says edit template & use template for a new design what does that mean ? I’m not sure if I did it right ?

For the shareable/editable file, would you inform buyers prior to buying that it is recommended to have Canva?
If you’re selling a Canva template then yes absolutely let them know that a free Canva account is required to edit the product. If you’re selling a finished product they wouldn’t need Canva!

No! And now you don't even need pro to share it as a template! The only reason a customer would need pro is if you include pro features in your designs!
I have a question… If I use designs that are usually Pro version.. if I sell that and old mate buys it uses the link and goes to edit it.. won’t he have the canva watermarks because they only have the free version???

Yes that’s exactly right! And you can attach as many hyperlinks as you want to that pdf!
hey Wendy, wanted to know how you put the template's cover picture? or does that come on its own? because you're just uploading the thankyou pdf which people will get on purchasing and customers need to see what the template looks like.
When they click the link in your thank you letter it will open up that template cover photo you see! Canva does that for you.

You’re welcome! Yes, start! Just keep listing more items as you create them!
Love this video! Can I add multiple variations to Etsy with digital products - for example the customer can choose from drop down menu if he wants blue or pink or something like that - just like physical products where you can choose color or size or somethings like that?
Thank you! As of right now you can’t add variations to digital products. You would just have to create new listings for different variations. You can link to your other listing in the description though!

Thank you! Glad it helped! If you are uploading a png or pdf you can just put it straight inside of your Etsy listing! The only reason to use this workaround for those items is if you have more than 5 files you need to add to a listing for some reason!

this is super informative. thank you. I see that the sellers on Etsy provide a link to view the template, which i do not think it is via Canva. Any chance you could do a video on how to view the template?
When they offer a sample template to view they are typically using another site independent of canva. One is called Corjl and another is Templatt. (Both paid services) I am working on a workaround option with canva so I will keep you posted!
If I add the link where says cliq here wouldn't that give them access it without purchasing still? At what point are they prompt to purchase during time they cliq link?
You are adding the link to a thank you letter/pdf document. That document is what you will upload to Etsy when you list the product. Your customer will not have access to the template link until they purchase the item. Then they will receive that pdf you created and gain access to the template!
For some reason when my customers are going to the link to customize the business card its changing my original design to their design... So when the next customer purchases it, it has the last customers design on it. Do you know why this is happening?
Such a fantastic video….question…I love using GoodNotes when I purchase digital downloads. Is that a special file? Meaning when I start listing my own products do I need to create a special file that is “compatible” or is it all PDF and the buyer is simply pulling into GoodNotes? A lot times seller desription states good notes file
Goodnotes supports PDF as well as images. You can convert your files to a goodnotes file as well, but other formats are supported! Honestyle the conversion happens inside of goodnotes. You could add a quick step by step document with your purchases on how to import the PDF into goodnotes. I would definitely create and then try it out for yourself in goodnotes to make sure you are happy with the compatibility before you sell it in a certain format, just to make sure it does everything you want!

The thank you page is a separate document you create. You add the links to your templates that you created on that. Then that is what you upload to Etsy for your customer!
Having some trouble, must have watched your video ten times. I have canva pro and Etsy all set up I created a business card and a thank you letter ect, I cannot get the link to copy into the thank you without rerouting me back into my canva account. Also how do I change the file name it won’t allow me to upload a file into Etsy with a longer name. I am using an asus chrome book. Thanks. Please let me know.
When someone clicks the link, it is going to open the template in their canva account. Because you are signed in it will always open in your account when you click it but as long as you are sharing the template link, the customer will be editing their own document, not inside of your original. It should pop up and say "Aidans Aquatics has shared a template with you" or something along those lines. I will do a screen capture of this and get it posted just to show you what it looks like on my end! Hope that helps. As far as changing the name, when I download my letter it gives me the option to save as. If you aren't getting that option, in the upper right corner of canva it gives your document a name. Just change it in there first and that will fix the problem.
Hi! I am trying to understand. I created a planner, and I am trying to upload it to etsy, but one of the last comments, you mentioned that they will upload it to canva to be able to edit it? I'd like to be able to give them the option to either download and print, or download to their tablet to be able to write on or type in from their tablet. Is that a thing?
If you want to go this route you will just download it as a pdf so that they can print or use on an iPad! You can then just upload that file directly to your listing. I would test on iPad to make sure it works properly before selling!

When you use the template link, when each person clicks on it, it creates a new template for them to work on. So they are all clicking on the same link, but everyone is working on a different template.
I’ve been trying to upload a calendar and can’t figure out how to combine all 12 pages so they appears as one unit. Any suggestions?
Is it as simple as saving the pages as a pdf first? Will that format work for what you need or do you need it to be editable?
Can you make a video step by step how to upload Journals to Esty? And how to show what the image would look like with logo so there won't be copied. I have my logo on my product of journals I just don't know how to put them in the right place. First time doing this I want it to look great!

You can create multiple files and link to all the different sizes inside of your thank you letter.
Do I need to create a different "thank you" with each listing?
You could technically use the same one but would need to replace the link if it was for a different file. But if you are selling the same one over and over you can use the same thank you!

Unfortunately they can. I put a copyright and sharing policy on my site, but ultimately people will either be honest or dishonest. You can put a limit on Etsy for how many times a link can be downloaded but not on Canva!

Hi! So make sure that you are downloading as a PDF standard and Do not flatten it. Otherwise the links will not work. You can test it once you download the PDF to make sure it works before you upload it too!

There have been several updates so it could be in one of two places! Click share and then below the copy link there could be an icon that says template link. Or if it’s not there go to … More and Click that. Then you should see the template link in there! Let me know if you find it ok!
my share button looks the same even though I am using the pro free trial so won't let me use the feature?
I believe they changed the template link share to be available even for free accounts now! If you don’t see it click more and there are a lot more options! You should see the template link option there!

Did you look under the more section? Sometimes if you haven’t used an option it will be there.

Because Canva is more of a design tool than a word processor it isn't really possible to do in a simple way... You can download it as a PDF and then go to a site like ilovepdf.com to convert it but the layout will most likely not be the same, especially if you have added decorative elements etc. Something else that I have found to work is to save it as a PowerPoint. Open the powerpoint and highlight all the elements on a page, copy and then paste into a Word document. Then right-click to group all the elements so that you can stretch it to be sized correctly on the document...then ungroup. Not super efficient, but it does work. Then you can save the word document to your google drive, and share the link to that as a VIEW ONLY so that your customer is required to make a copy before they are able to edit!

Is there a way in Canva to limit the amount of downloads when a customer purchases a editable template? I make invitations and stationery and I have caught people through another system downloading the product a lot of times and then editing and selling to others, or downloading a bunch of times and creating things for all of their friends. Just curious if there was a way to combat that with Canva?

No that’s not possible unfortunately. I do put a disclaimer on all of my products that they are copyrighted and not for resale. I do threaten legal action if I catch them and will report to Etsy as well if that’s where they are reselling my work!
Why mine is not clickable when I download the file in PDF? Am I doing it wrong as I cannot see the link button on the upper right hand corner on my Canva?
Make sure that you are downloading the PDF Standard and that you do not flatten the PDF as this will also remove the links!

Only if you use pro elements in your design! Choose free elements and they don’t need a pro account! (Double check your fonts too and make sure you use free ones!)

You would have to use some sort of file converter to do that. (Smallpdf.com or pdfsimpli.com are a couple) If you’re creating something that you want to be able to share as a document I would recommend creating it in google docs in the future so that you can share it without having to make adjustments to formatting. Canva is great for design but there is not currently a way to save what you create as a .doc
Is this the same technique for digital flyer templates?
Yes! You can use this for any digital products that you are selling!
Hey , recently I opened my Etsy shop and I have a bit of a trouble.I have printable templates but I have only 1 photo of each ,is it enough or should I add more photos , could you make a tut please ?
I always recommend having as many photos as they allow plus a video! I can do a listing photo tutorial for you yes!
