    The jpeg quality slider is about the file's compression. At higher values (low compression) you will barely see any difference. But compressing at lower values (high compression) you should notice artifacts showing when doing a side by side look. Though the latter is more noticable when comparing on a monitor when you are up close. Once printed out and looking from afar you probably still won't notice a difference at all. The image also matters a lot. Some might suffer more than others despite having the same quality value.
    This aside I would, as you said, use an external upload service just to have high quality files for the clients. The few minutes of extra work is in my eyes worth it to deliver more professional files.

    This is great! I make a thank you card in Canva and add that link as a hyperlink. Then I upload the 'thank you card' into the Etsy listing. Also, by doing it this way, they don't have the actual link to share. I have the hyperlink in the word "here" in my "download here" note. I'm sure there's a way to share the Thank you card but I bet most people won't even think about it.

    In order to not having trouble with multiple downloads, is it ok to upload 1 zip file (about 160 mb) containing, for example 10 cliparts or all 10 need to be uploaded separately (so buyers would not need to download 10 times but just 1 time)? I am new to the whole Google Drive so your answer would mean me a lot. Thank you for your awesome video. :)

    Do you have to use Google Docs?
    Can it be more than 5 files, since it's just a link?
    When someone opens your Google Drive can't they access everything in there, even if they didn't pay for them?

  • @followerofchristjesus5192

    Hey Brittany, love your videos.
    Quick questions: Say I scan an artwork and would like to upload it to a large product such as on a devut cover on a POD website, do you recommend changing the dpi to a larger number than 300 to make sure the print on the product is done properly?
    Also, if I wanna merge different artwork to put on one product, which software or App do you recommend before updating the details in Gimp?

    • @astoldbybrittany4342
      @astoldbybrittany4342  Před rokem +1

      I'm not too sure on this so don't quote me - but I would guess that you'd need to scan at a larger DPI, say 900 or something that way it'll be larger from the start and you can scale down. However I think I remember seeing some research that suggested you don't need the final product of large prints (say a duvet) to be at 300 DPI because at that size the human eye can't detect a better resolution?? Like billboards for instance if you were to look up close would look pixelated but because they are such a large "print" and are meant to be seen from far away it's ok and still looks fine. There's a lot of nuance here, sorry to have an unclear answer

    How much storage do you have in your Google Drive? I’ve noticed mine only has 20 GB and thought that this might be used up super quick at the rate I’m going. I am just trying to navigate where it is best to store all of my files as I am creating them. I have an external hard drive with 1 TB storage, Google Drive with 20 GB and there is 20 GB with Photoshop which I’ve just started a trial with. I feel like these will be full very soon with tiff files saved.
    Thanks

    LOVE your strategies!! For etsy digital art prints, if you create art that looks great at all ratios without cropping out anything significant, can you technically, just upload one large file (like 12000x12000) instead of providing so many different sized files? Could the customer (or the customer's print-service) just get this one file and scale down to any size they need ? Or is there a downside to that?

    • @astoldbybrittany4342
      @astoldbybrittany4342  Před rokem +2

      Yes, you could absolutely do this!! the 5 ratios I mentioned are not absolute rules - it's just the most common set of ratios / sizing I've seen on Etsy! The ratio / size offerings are your oyster!

    • @NM-nv5ib
      @NM-nv5ib Před rokem +5

      yes, that's what you do but you still need to give them the correct ratio sizes. For example , the ratio 2:3 has many different sizes like 4"x6" to 24'"x36" and more. So you give them the biggest size u have for that ratio. in our example i would give 24"x36" and that will be good to print on all the smaller sizes. BUT you still have to give them another file for another Ratios like 3:4 , 4:5 etc. This is because changing ratio sizes is editing and cropping the image . If you don't do this , the client has to and maybe they don't know or don't have the software or if they print directly it will have white borders and not look good. So basically if you were to provide them with 5 Ratio sizes , you would give them 5 different Ratio files with the biggest size which they can print in many many sizes. hope this helps. your image is 12000x 12000 meaning is a square 1:1 Ratio. think about putting that in 2:3 ration, a square into a rectangle. you can for sure do this if the only thing you are selling is big square canvases of prints. but normally people like variety.

    Do you know if the instant download of the word document in place of the artwork is Etsy approved since they charge VAT charge for customer’s oversee? I’ve read other comments regarding that linking Google drive/Dropbox is considered an external link & not an instant download therefore Etsy would illegally be collecting the VAT charge. Also by using the external link the your product should be listed as physical & not a digital download. I’m so confused & would greatly appreciate any clarification. Thank you for this helpful video!

    • @astoldbybrittany4342
      @astoldbybrittany4342  Před rokem +2

      I don't know the answer to this honestly but I can't imagine it wouldn't be? I've seen so many people use this method. I've seen people selling things like website design services which you obviously can't attach as a digital document so they'll just attach a pdf with instructions on getting the services started. I know that's a terrible argument: "everyone's doing it so it's fine". I truly don't know the answer, just thinking out loud.
