She performed several pieces at this Steenbergen concert, there is a video of 5 of them back to back. It is a supernatural talent she has rather than training, as she was astounding audiences and professionals before anyone started coaching her.

She is just amazing.Sings just like an angel,that she is!!
One of the things I love about Amira... is exactly what you mentioned.. to me I describe it as an amazing 'stillness' about her.. all the emotional reaction is coming from her voice ..and her extraordinary stage presence, just being herself there totally in the song..
This is an open-air performance which is very difficult for any singer. In fact Amira has, although she sings a completely different genre, much similarities with Angelina Jordan: she is born with this gift, has won a National Talentshow at a very young age and she is able to convey the emotion of the lyrics she sings to the audience, just with he voice without much movements.
You need to look up her singing when she was 9, she taught herself from watching CZcams!!

I've heard her sing this in a larger setting; I think I like this one better! She won a Dutch singing competition at age 9 (!), taught herself to sing opera by watching You Tube....what can you say? Yes, a supernatural ability.
She has performed many different versions of Ave Maria, there are videos of her performing Latin, Spanish, German Dutch, Hebrew and Africanis versions by many different composers. She performs all of them to total perfection and beauty. She just turned 19 years old yesterday the 27th of March. HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMIRA! The key to her breath control is she has been a competitive long distance runner since she was 7 or 8 years old and has won 1st place against older children in10K and 15K competitions. She was on track to be part of South Africa's Olympic team as a long distance runner until the Covid Virus shut down the country.
This was an unusual occasion at a boat festival weekend .. and the stage was set up over the water. Amira came straight from school and sang quite a few songs that night.. it must have a challenge for her at that age.
This performance of the Vavilov "Ave Maria" was on a barge, to celebrate the opening of a new Marina in Holland. The rather sparse applause you hear is from the orchestra; the bulk of the audience was ashore. Amira sang five pieces altogether.
Great reaction Britt. You would absolutely love her performance of ‘’ When You Wish Upon a Star ‘’ as it’s not really in the Opera genre, although she sings it in a higher register than what we are used to. It it sung in a very slow tempo & is a brilliant rendition.
Or maybe her performing the ‘’ Sound of Music medley ‘’ which shows how versatile Amira is. She sings this one octave above the original by Julie Andrews and absolutely nails it.

Yes she learned to sing Opera by watching CZcams. In other words God given talent.
Great reaction! That rendition of the Vavilov/Caccini Ave Maria is excruciatingly difficult to sing. The slow rhythm requires the soprano to utter very long phrases with prolonged vibrato, and therefore any bubble in the vibrato, any breathlessness, any error in key, any tiny error in tempo will be noticed. But, of course, Amira sings with absolute mastery, accuracy, consistency and beauty. She shines where thousands would fail. This concert was primarily for television. The orchestra did not hold back and applauded. The conductor at the end speaks in Dutch "The great Amira Willighagen". And she was only 13 years old.
Beautiful soprano, and just like our angel Angelina Jordan she's just getting started. Only 19 years old right now!!
Great reaction Britt. I think what you were trying to express is that Amira is so still. She is so inside of herself that she does not need to make large outward movements--her music moves for her. She is truly amazing--keep up the good work!!

Born in Holland, natural talent, self taught at first, living in South Africa so as to have the long southern summer holidays to perform in Europe over the Christmas season there. Definitely one of the best child performers of the last decade.
She’s to classical what Angelina Jordan is to jazz. She taught herself to sing opera/classical in her bedroom from, won Hollands got talent at 9 then she got a vocal coach. She makes opera and classical fun.
The talent show version will blow your mind that she won at 9 years old and was self taught at that time which clearly she has received training since.

The Bible says that God's heavenly angels number in the millions. I guess, 19 years ago, that He decided to spare one there and send here in the person of Amira to grace and bless our ears and hearts! Hebrews 13:2 says, "...some have enertained angels unawares." On the other hand, this one entertains us -- and we are VERY aware!

I too am familiar with the LIberace "popera" version than this one, but this is reminiscent of a version I have heard by Dimash Kundaibergen, whose range runs from unlimited to infinity. This is a spectacular controlled operatic version, and I'm inspired.
She came from a talent show in her country and her mother worked with her, but of course when you have the ability they want to train you further

I don't know how old she was when she preformed this , she is only like 19 now so... You wondered if it was training or talent , while both are required without a natural born talent you can't be trained to be this good. I have loved this song for decades and I can tell you this is a very good rendition.

there are loads of different Ave Marias. they're a staple diet of the crossover classical singers, as well a opera specialists. if you like this kind of singers, you should check out Charlotte Church, Hayley Westenra, Katherine Jenkins and Barbara Bonney

Also, from the thumbnail I thought this _was_ Amira's Semi-Final HGT performance (mostly because of the wreath).
She is also a long distance runner. So that helps with her breathing. Her second goal is to take part in the Olympics.
Britt, i think it might be handy if you let the people who are requesting you react to something let you know the specific video they are referring to, it is normally the standout ones that they are thinking of, i have been bouncing around CZcams for a quiet awhile and know most of the gems, this video here in particular, i mean its ok and she sings well but the gem is when she first appears on Hollands got talent as a tiny girl with the judges expecting her to sing children songs only to discover a beautiful opera voice.
i dont know what it is about reaction channels, i watch a few different ones in passing, you have set a new benchmark so i keep an eye on what your producing, i think you had about 6,000 members when i joined, and like i said, i dont know what it is about reaction channels, its something about our psychological make up, i think it goes a little like this. if i watch something and i really enjoy it then i see that someone else is going to watch it and i wonder what they think about it or how they will react but it turns out it is a completely different video to the one i am thinking. my first thought is oh too bad its not the one i am thinking of so i click to watch something else.
i know that might come off as big deal dude so move on but if you think about it, your members are trying to share their experience with you and if they are donating in order to have their request chosen i guess they might be a little let down in the experience, please dont think of this as a criticism but maybe just as information to ponder, you do great work, if you have the video they want, that would be the cream on top

As far as open air and triple lung capacity goes, you could try Diana Navarro with, um, I dunno, Sola ( live in Salamanca) could give you an idea. No opera, Spanish, flamenco schooled. As for opera, probably not really your liking.... But as far as purely technique goes, Agitata da due venti by Vivaldi. Few can do it. Cecilia Bartoli is one. It requires a somewhat funny technique.

Meh. Why do some singers always do that shakey voice thing wobbling between notes? It sounds so much better when they just hold the note.
It’s called vibrato, and is standard for some varieties of singing.
