- Hey guys,
Join me, ReZ, Clint, and Danny from Superior Gear on an epic 3-day, 3-night backpacking adventure on the Superior Hiking Trail. On this trip, we start at the Split Rock trailhead and backpack around 30 miles to Tettegouche State Park also making a quick stop at the Split Rock Lighthouse which is a 3 mile round trip spur trial. We hit some iffy weather but still had good views and a great time on trail.
Thanks for watching!

Nice video Juice!! So much fun! You guys put my weak legs to shame lol 😆
Thanks Danny, it was awesome having you come along! More adventures to come I'm sure!
Nice video Ajay! Heading up to the SHT tomorrow. Now I am psyched.
Thanks! Trail conditions are pretty good right now given that it's still spring. Have a great trip!
Oooo good time watching your video from the trip :) Greetings from Poland
Thanks for tuning in Krystian!
Cheers to years of adventures past and those yet unknown!
Never a bad trip, looking forward to the next one!
Looks awesome! Love the Split Rock River.
You missed out Joe!
looks like a good hike
It was a great hike!
Like Butta'! If I could do it all over again, I'd still leave the spoon at home.
I bet you would cake eater!
Great video! Loved all the scenery! Even a little goofing around going on! Split Rock lighthouse is really a thing to see, beautiful place! You can take a stairs to the top of the lighthouse really cool! Happy trails!!
Thanks old man!
Thanks for filming, editing and posting. It was cool that you showed each persons set up. Next time a bit mor gear detail if you please. 👍
Sure thing!
Danny told me that you "strolled" through some 13 mile days! Haha! Looks like a blast! I need to get a section or 2 in up there this year.
Always a good time on the SHT!
Question, other than tree availability and hiking with Danny, what factors do you use whether to hammock or tent/tarp camp?
If good hanging options are an option I will always prefer to use my hammock since that's where I get the best sleep. Other than that terrain makes a difference so typically out West I'll use a tent. Also, milage plays a factor. If I'm putting on big miles a tent is just lighter and takes up less volume than my hammock set up. Sometimes my decision has nothing to do with logical reasons either, sometimes I just want to change it up and will choose the opposite of what I've been using lately.
Juice Hikes Thanks, good to know.
I was thinking about doing this but couldn't find any info....where do you leave your car? How long can my car be there without being towed? Where does this trailhead start? .....I see you and all these people doing these amazing hikes and when I try to find info I keep getting led to some national park I'm not interested in....oh well, ...mabey one day I can find out all this info and go hiking myself one day...loved your video by the way!
Thanks Kor! For this trip we left one car in the parking lot at Tetteguche State Park and the other car we left at the Split Rock Parking lot (all are on Google maps). As long as you have a MN State Park Pass you should be fine to leave your car for at least a week I would think but I'm not sure of the specifics of how long they will let you leave your vehicle. Check out superiorhiking.org/, this has a ton of maps, trailheads and other info on the trail.
@@juicehikes5436 I will definitely look into that. Thanks for getting back to me on that.
Hello, good video ! What's the point of using only one trekking pole ?
Greetings from France
Thanks for tuning in from France! I've got family that lives in Rennes, a beautiful country! I prefer one trekking pole because it still allows you to take some of the weight off your knees on downhills, helps pull you on the uphill's and gives you balance over water and trickier spots. By only having one it is less to carry, gives you a free hand (for filming, eating, etc.), and can easily be stashed in your pack if you're on the flats and not using it. For bigger mileage days where the poles are more of a crutch on getting me up and down hills I'll go with two. Honestly, it just feels more natural using one, maybe that's just me!
How did the light weight tarp do in cold and moisture?
It did amazing! Everyone stayed dry and warm on this trip.
You gotta carry a better microphone.
Hey Damon, I use an expensive shotgun mic. Do you have any examples of scenes where the audio isn't good? There are a few with some wind noise but that was with a mic and a dead cat cover. When it's blowing 25mph+ on a ridge there isn't much I can do.
