    Love the hiking vdo. The only thing I don't do on hikes is swimming. No matter how good you're as a swimmer, cramps can lead to drowning and injuries when swimming/diving is a no no on wilderness hikes.

    Mosquitoes were epic 2023. Brutal. August September is fire and smoke usually. Unless big snow year.
    If I have 5 days doing Yosemite from Porcupine Creek. North Dome. Lembert Dome. Panoramic Trail from 4 mile up. Glacier to Nevada down. Clouds Rest (22) mile day.

  • @sluggotinfantryman
    @sluggotinfantryman Před 6 měsíci

    This is a traditional route up Bubbs Creek.
    It's the real deal.
    Go in over Taboose Pass. Out Shepherd Pass or Kearsarge. If Rae Lakes are what you want.
    I love Taboose Pass. 9.5 miles in/over.
    Kearsarge you got Mount Gould 13000+ Easy right off pass and then you can run ridge out toward Dragon. GREAT PEAK!
    Shepherd out or in puts you up Panoramic Peak at pass by lake. Tyndall. Keith. Route goes past Junction Peak. Down and Around to Kearsarge over to Rae Lakes.
    Roads ends is a traditional start over and out at Kearsarge. Or reverse.
    My recommendation is in over Taboose. Out Shepherd.
    The wild side is Palisades both sides.
    Mammoth Lakes Duck Pass is easiest area and has Rainbow Falls and Postpile. Ritter Range if that ain't enough.
    And is civilization so kid friendly. Internet. Groceries. Short hikes. 10 Lakes. Crystal Peak.
    One most don't do is White Mountain to Boubdary Peak traverse. Dry and high. Bristlecone. Need two cars.

      @juicehikes5436  Před 3 lety +2

      Thanks Oliver! This trip was June 3-6 so just a few weeks ago. The trail is in great shape, easy to navigate and not really a bad campsite on the loop. At the South Fork river crossing where the bridge is out there are logs you can cross (about 1/10th mile down stream) shown in the video that you can take if you don't want to get wet. We went clockwise on the loop which I would recommend.

    Enjoyed the video. Doing this loop in mid-September and debating tent vs. hammock. Were hanging spots ample or did your group have to be selective when choosing sites suitable for hammocks? Any thoughts on ease of hammocks on this loop - especially around Rae Lakes?

    • @juicehikes5436
      @juicehikes5436  Před 2 lety +3

      You would be fine with multiple hammocks at almost every site. Plenty of trees even around Rae Lakes. We were told Rae Lakes was above tree line and there weren't any trees but that was far from true. The trees around Rae Lakes are a little more sparse but there are plenty of good hanging opportunities. Thanks for tuning in!

    Did Rae lakes loop this year, and to be honest, worst trip of my life, the trail was covered in downed trees, there was a river crossing at upper paradise, bigger snow patches at glen, and a valley of fallen trees on the jmt.
