- In this video, we are going to share with you a Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks Travel plan that would be perfect for a 1-day visit to these two parks. These recommendations are based on our frequent visits to these parks.
We live just an hour from Sequoia National Park, we have hiked tons of trails in here, but for today's video, we are only sharing the easy, short, and accessible things you can do in both Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park if you only have a day or two to spend in the park.
Here are some reminders before you visit Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks.
1.) Entrance Fee is $35 for private vehicles, $20 if by foot, or on a bike.
This ticket is valid for 7 days in both Sequoia and Kings. Men and women from the armed forces of the United States are free.
2.) No Gasoline in the park. Make sure you have enough gas to navigate the whole park. On Summer days, gas is available in Hume Lake and Stony Creek.
3.) No phone signals and wifi. Make sure you download your itinerary or screenshot the list of places you wish to go to in the park. Maps and additional information are also available at the entrance gate and visitor's centers.
4.) Due to Covid-19, make sure you bring extra masks, in case they require you to wear one in certain areas.
5.) Road closures can happen. Due to changing weather, make sure to check recent road updates before going.
6.) Bring snacks and lots of water. The temperature in the park changes a lot, keep yourself hydrated when strolling or hiking.
7.) Shuttle Buses are available and free in the Sequoia National Park.
8.) Start your visit as early as you can. Not only to avoid the crowd at the entrance gate but to also enjoy the beauty of this park during Sunrise.
9.) Do not feed the wild animals, and keep your distance when you see one.
P.S. During our hike last weekend, they were not requiring a mask on the trail. But that probably changed due to the recent changes in Covid-19 protocols.

Check with ranger stations before going. The winter storms of 2022-2023 wrecked havoc with the roads, especially in burn areas, and there are still some closures (as of August, 2023).

This was actually a great guide video I hit all of these areas except the falls but I ended up finding a beautiful lake tucked somewhere on the mountain… definitely planning another trip to go back
Thank you so much. Are you talking about Hume Lake? Let us know if you have anything you want to recommend to us that isn't included in our video.
@@TheWorldCruisers I believe it WAS Hume lake it was serene by the waters edge. I went when there was still snow in some areas the views were breathtaking in some areas
@@Lymlyt96 Hume Lake is truly amazing. We went there during winter too. It's like a winter wonderland. We camped a couple miles from the lake, right along the river, it was so cool.
Only just discovered your channel, saw the Top 10 sites to visit on Hwy 395; you did such a great job. Looking through other videos I found your Sequoia/Kings Canyon travel guide here and wanted to comment. As one who has been coming to many areas of The Sierras in all seasons for 50 years; if I had to pick only one place to recommend, it would be this.
Thank you, Mr. Peach. I totally agree with you. SNP is one of our favorites. Not only it is closer to where we live, but it has tons of things to offer. We have visited it many times and still haven't covered the whole area yet. lol
Great video. The only thing I would add is Tokopah Falls in Sequoia. That was an awesome trail.
Thank you, Mark. By the time we made this video, we haven't hiked Tokopah yet. But we already did and yes, it is definitely one of the best trails in SNP.
awsome video, we are planning our first trip to sequoia and kings canyon middle of may 2023 if you guys have input on the weather. love the points of interest you guys pointed out. thanks
The weather during that time should be good. I will keep you posted when it is getting closer.
Hollo from Romania, my intention is to visit the Park on this route maybe next year. All the best!
That sounds awesome, Gabi. Let us know if you have any questions.
Just as i thought i've been subscribing na sa channel nnyo for the first time pa lng g.launched ni..Peke d i to nga pagka click 😁..anyway, nice video and so as places looks very refreshing..I feel like i am touring with you guys.. And one more thing I love the voice over..more videos to look forward👌😘❤
Babeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Hahaha Na kurat lang kos imong comment. Labyu!
I am watching you from Russia. I like your video. I would like to visit these picturesque places
Thank you, Maxim. Let us know if you have any questions.
Great video! At 11:37 y’all are enjoying the sunset in your camping chairs - where is that at?
We’re planning a trip to the parks and your video has been a huge help!
Thank you, Joshua. That was taken at the Big Meadows. Coming from SNP (going to Kings Canyon NP), there is a right turn-off going to Big Meadows, just before the Mount Baldy trailhead. The road is close during the winter, unfortunately.
Learn how to swim! Swimming is one of the most wonderful feeings in the world. Even just wading in the water feels great.
Hi Janet, I know a little bit but not too confident to swim in deep areas haha (Maria)
Present 😊
Late naman kaayo akong reply hahaha
Ate😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Pssssssssssssst. haha
❤❤❤
Thank you, Tin 😘
Thank you for this I am traveling for work and I want my mom to tag along but I'm not sure if she'll be up for the all the walking and climbing LOL. Plus it's going to be at least 5 hours away from where we're staying😢
Aww. How old is she? There are tons of areas in SNP that are easy access for older people.
Enjoyed your video. What is the weather like in mid March? Can you recommend any nice lodging?
Thank you so much. Around March, the weather should be good unless there is still now, which they would require people to carry snow chains still. Where are you coming from? There are lots of lodging in Three Rivers, and also in Visalia, which is an hour from SNP's main entrance.
I will be coming in from Las Vegas, in a rental car.
Do I have to have permit for byway ?
Hello, if we were to split this into 2 days, what would you suggest? Doubt we can do 12 hr days esp with a toddler so we were planning to go back a 2nd day.
Hannah, 2 days would be ideal to fully enjoy each areas specially with a baby. This video is more like rushing pretty much for those who only have 1 day to spend in SNP. I would say spend 1 day in Sequoia and 1 day in Kings as well.
In the canyon there are caverns, they were closed when we visited.
Dale
Hi Dale, to be honest we have never been to both caverns yet. The one in Sequoia is still close due to the fire, but I guess it will be open next year. The one in the Kings Canyon, we still need to check that our if we can actually get a booking.

When coming in through car do you have to show ID or license at the entrance where you pay?
Hi There. If you own a military pass, or other special pass, they require ID to verify if you truly own the pass. If you purchase your access online, they will also ask for your ID to verify the ownership, as for driving through, they usually ask for an ID to verify your card unless you are paying cash.
Forgot to mention the mist falls hike and the big rock you can jump into the water from.
Hi Fede, we weren't able to hike the Mist Falls yet, but will do an updated list when we finally get to see it. The big rock you are talking about, is that the Muir Rock?
Where do you recommend filling up for gas before entering the park ? So by car it’s like 3 hrs drive back and forth with all the stops once inside the park? Ty
Hi Xavier, where are you coming from? We recommend filling up before going. Also, if you are only driving, it usually takes us 2 hours from Hanford to the General Sherman trailhead. With stops for photos, just within Seqouia, it would probably require at least 5 hours time frame (round trip).

How long did this took you to finish this all? If google maps don’t work in SNP what did you use to navigate? Many thanks
Hi Celine, were you just talking about the SNP, not including the Kings? Google maps works at the park, but kind of slow. Although you will be given a map at the entrance, that always helped a lot.

You should warn people about the dead limbs in some trees that sometimes fall.
We should. We apologize for forgetting that.
@@TheWorldCruisers You can´t remember everything. Next time....
Kanindot…
Psssssssst. Thank you.
They have two gas stations but they far away so it’s better to go in the park with a full tank
That's true. We always fill our gas first before going.
Pwede housetour sa inyo blay hon..hehe
Hahaha maulaw man ta ana oi
As a big dude, I must ask. Where does your husband find his pants and are they seem hiking quality and I'm looking for some myself lol
Haha. Yes, they are for hiking. We got his pants from Costco, I checked the brand and it says BC Clothing. The pants are actually cool because you can undo the zipper to make it knee short pants.
@@TheWorldCruisers I need!!
Great video. Thanks for sharing!
