Roei no Uta (English Version) 露営の歌

- So I decided to do an English cover of the "Field Encampment Song". Sadly I couldn't find a piano version with all five verses so I had to cut the middle one. I do apologize.
Original lyrics:
Music taken and modified from: • Roei no uta - 露營の歌 - p...
天皇陛下万歳は英語でもほとんど変わらない発音なのね
lol well, I decided to use the original phrase just because it's so well-known in English.
It would be surprising if my late grandfather knew that foreigners were singing Japanese military songs. You look amazing. And thank you
I have listened to them since I was in high school in 2006, I even used Roe no uta in a school project back then when I lived in South Florida, I also own alot of Japanese items from the war including two Arisaka type 99 rifles and type 30 bayonet and a type 90 Helmet.
@@Zerosen89 It is wonderful. You also have a Japanese name.零戦
One of my favorite IJ songs. Youve done it justice.
Thank you! I'm deeply honored by your comment. ^^
As Half Japanese and a Great Uncle who served in the IJN your version makes me happy and more proud. Also where did you get the image from?
I do translation of historical songs and I just discovered this. Perfectly translated! And well-sung.
Thank you! :D
@@thesouthernsinger2763 I am interested in singing it myself. If I do, can I use your lyrics? I'll make sure to credit you.
@@VictorianChinese1860 by all means. Go ahead. :)
@@thesouthernsinger2763 Thank you!
私は5番の「泣いてくれるな草の虫」の部分が好きで。作詞者はまだ戦場の余韻も残る陥落直後の南京の城壁で、啼く虫の声を聴き、明日をもしれない戦場で人の命のむなしさを込めた
とのちにしるしており、非常に好きな逸話です。これを蛍で表現するのはなかなか上手いやり方だと感心しました。英語圏で虫の声では伝わりにくそうですもの。
You earned my respect, my uncle sang this song when he was drafted into the IJA
This is excellent, thank you for this magnificent job. Please translate: Hohei no honryō (歩兵の本領).
瞼に浮かぶ旗の波:the scene of the people in my town waving the national flag during the ceremony of sending me off to the train to the army back to my eyes again.
Discovered your channel few minutes ago, and I already love your work
I'm surprised how poetic and what a great flow it has despite it being a translation. Very well done!
This is awesome, I randomly found this and watched some of your other videos, they are all very good
Great cover, you really captured the emotion of the original Japanese song in the translation
WOW! Keep up the wonderful work
Love it. Greetings from Israel
Greetings from South Carolina. :)

@@CaledonianGaisgeach Sorry, force of habit. lol
due to leukemia my last 3 years where awful for body, heart and mind. but people like you make this painful existence worth living. (other than my family.)
think you could possibly make Battotai too?
I'm sorry I didn't respond to this comment at the time. I am truly touched by the sentiment. We all must bear the pains of this life as best we can. I am just sorry that I've been so busy. I have a partially translated version of Battotai that is waiting on my attention - I promise I'll try to get to it soon.
Your words are like painkillers to me.
3 years since I have been feeling better but pain has yet to leave my body for now,but i will manage, even the coma I suffered did not end me. ever since that horrible day I decided that life will suffer me until my time comes,i am too young to accept it after all (21), and as I do I will listen to your work as well.
Take your time and know that I appreciate your efforts. Thank you.

I think the translation is a lil bit wrong you just made it sadder I like it
Trying to translate Japanese to English and finding the right words that keep the original songs cadence without changing it is difficult.
Oh ok
@@sinisterisrandom8537 because it's full of stories in the eastern culture. So not only from the word means but also the backgrounds makes it hard.
