The only way the US can respond is by keeping military troops around to dissuade terrorist build up. Iraqi soldiers had zero will to fight and were using 1960s/70s equipment. The Philippines is an odd choice. I mean, it makes sense if we're talking about tech capabilities but that's not the reason why the Philippines is still alive and kicking butts. The country survived numerous invasions, terrorist attacks, and two world wars. It is also a founding member of so many international organizations and joined notable battles like the Korean War, or the Vietnam War. There's no doubt that the Philippines played an important role in recent world history, not even mentioning the history before that. They're still modernizing the army tho so I still don't get why it is on the list.

    • @bobdopsopdap4583
      @bobdopsopdap4583 Před 2 lety +11

The list is bs bro. Dosnt mean its right. There are loads of much weaker militaries out there , this list was compiled by people who don't know jack about military affairs/ strategy.
What about the armies of Somalia, or South Sudan,or Gambia, or Liberia,Or Sierra Leone,Or Lichtenstein etc. I know of so much more weaker militaries.
So the army of Mozambique or Zimbabwe or the small army of Montenegro are more powerful than the Fillipino military? The army of Cambodia or Loas is stronger than them too?
Equatorial Guinea or Madagascar has an army stronger than the Phillipines armed forces.
Moldova's army is stronger than the Phillipines? The army Kyrgyzstan is stronger than them too?
Cyprus has a bigger stronger army than the Phillipines now?
Djibouti military is stringer than the Phillipines?
The modern well equipped but much smaller armies of Kuwait and Bahrain are stronger than the Phillipines one? Brunei has a stronger army than Phillipines?
All these countries and more have official standing armies(militaries), regardless of their size.
I can think of many other nations who are weaker militarily than the Phillipines, which proves this lady and the people who made this list don't know anything about military affairs, even experts that rank armies wouldn't come up with a list like that.
There are about 200 officially recognized countries (as full U.N member states),over half of them have national armies. Two thirds have military style forces.
How tf is the Phillipines one of the world's weakest? Its not even close. Is Nepal or Bhutan stronger than the Phillipines? Macedonia has a smaller less powerful army.
I can literally think of dozens of weaker states(militarily) than the Phillipines.
The Phillipine armed forces are actually a well-equipped experinced fighting force, with lots of good competent professional soldiers and especially their special forces guys, and they do have modern weaponry except for a modern air force but a lot of countries don't even have aircraft like the Phillipines or no air force altogether.
The Phillipino army has decades of counter insurgency and battle combat experience, their land army has a large number of good soldiers. I'm not even Phillipino and know this.
Its just a list mentioned compiled by people who google stuff and dont have a real and proper meaningful understanding of how armies are meant to be ranked and what makes them more powerful over others.
So the armies of Botswana,Angola, Peru,Ecuador, The Congo,Namibia, the Central African Republic,Mali,
Honduras, Guatamala, El-Salvador, Mongolia,Rwanda,Ivory Coast, Ghana,Guyana,Haiti, Dominican Republic ,East-Timor, Papua New Guinea,Solomon Islands,Fiji, Panama,Malta,Zambia,Uganda, Mauritania, Niger,Cameroon,Senegal and more ,all have official national standing armies, but yet these countries would defeat the Phillipines Armed Forces and incl. paramilitaries in an all-out war now and are more stronger armies than them???
I don't think so. Its bs. Not tire at all.

I think North Korea is severely underestimated purely because of the vast size of it's military and the terrain of the Korean peninsula. Yes Numbers meant nothing in the golf war because of the vast open terrain, but when there is plenty of mountains and forests everyone with an AK is a threat.

I went to Costa Rica around 2013 in a business travel. I did some research to know the kind of country it was and what I found out is that officially it didn’t have a military. I was very surprised to find out. But historically seems like Costa Rica hasn’t really needed one. When countries in Latin America became independent from Spain, they also granted Costa Rica independence, without them ever fighting a way. I don’t think there is a lot of resources there. Their main industries are hospitality and coffee production. So why would another country try to take that land by force.
They do have a lot of police officers and they look well armed and trained (at least they were very professional when I talked to them).
Anyway, this is based on what I can remember reading. By no means I’m an expert on Costa Rica history or geopolitics so if someone knows more please feel free to correct me.

As an American living in the Philippines, the main issue is funding. Corruption takes what little funds they get and the terrain does not allow heavy equipment, so the military does not look like most other militaries. For what the terrain is and what they have, they are decent. Plus the recent offensive against the NPA has showcased the power of the AFP.

One country that is great on military strategy & courage is Canada , but what do U expect from a country that has 80 tanks , 70 fighter jets , 20 Naval ships & 25000 men , to protect 4000 miles of land , completely under funds their military hardware budget ! Some of these countries in this blog have more hardware !!!!!
