Yeah bro entirely! Noone really knows about them and I know in the UK their are more aston martin db9s then speed 6s
Had a speed 6 for 9 years as a Daily. Awesome car when you do the proper upgrades. You cannot leave a Speed 6 stock, you have to do some mechanical and structural upgrades EG; Rear diff brackets. Drilled and Slotted rotors, bigger brake calipers. But oh so much fun when you swap the small K04 turbo for a bigger one. And drives well in winter like a Subaru. I now own a Speed 3 2nd Gen, its quickly becoming a monster but winter is gonna put a halt to it... Sucks that Mazda said they woudn't come back with a 3rd Gen Speed. They have the plattform for a perfect Hot Hatch like Ford's RS or VW R... the little 4x4 Mazda would benefit greatly from a turbocharger and a manual transmission or a DSG, I woudn't mind that. But so far it looks like my last Mazda is in my driveway from starting with a humble 626, to a MX-6 and a Protégé Speed, Then a Speed 6 and the 2nd Speed 3 Gen 2. So basically almost 17 years od Zoom Zoom but its coming to an end...very sad. Nice video brother!!! You have a new sub!!
Damn 9 years, really shows how enjoyable they are, and yeah they go so damn well with mods, with a bigger turbo, the way they just pull right to redline is madd, yeah, a new speed would be insane, espically when you consider that the focus and 3 use to be basically on the same platform, add to that the focus rs uses an engine that's incedably similar to the mzr, and created such a loved hothatch, Mazda shouldve really jump on it, I've heard quite a few times that people are wanting to trade cars, and would love a new ms3, but end up just buying a focus rs, and like you 17 years in the zoom zoom life, Mazda really so have some insane supporters that'd jump all over a new speed, thanks man

I wouldn't call that a serious hot hatch, it's more of a fast premium hatch imo, though who knows, once everyone gets their hands on it, it might be really fun, but even then it's 'only' got 250hp, which for a new hot hatch, isn't really cutting it

Oh yeah cool, I'll look into that, though I fear it might turn out kind of like any other suspesion video tbf, my best bet would obviously first be coilovers and get a professinal tracking setup done, to reduce understeer, add some camber and stiffer rear anti roll bar, if needed for extra adjustment get lower or possibly upper control arms, for a stiffer setup get it polybushed (stiffer suspension bushes) then if you wanna ball out see if there's like a full aluminum suspension kit out there to replace the arms or even knuckle, really it's like any other car, I'll look into a video like this, though if it turns out like any other suspesion video I might not, cos likes I'm pretty sure what all I just said would be what any suspenetion vid would say, thanks for watching!

Thanks! Yeah, it was so under appreciated, and like esp compared to the wrx, I don't really get it, like the speed 6 is bigger and aperently drives nicer too, add to that the interior, increased relibility and tunability, it's superior in my eyes, way more comparable to an STI imo

They are rare, espically in Europe, where I am a lot of them are in good shape, but yeah their are a lot of people out there that buy them and have no idea what theyre doing and destroy them
I somehow feel very proud of myself because in this video you said people go from a beginner car 'honda' to something bit faster and their first choice is a speed 3 BUT I'm moving from a honda euro R to a Speed 6 as my second car! (In a couple of days)

Haha you know the funny part is I didn't even know it existed untill I got it from the car dealer. It was the only car they had in my price range. I thought the speed3 only existed at that time.

Just bought one last year....it’s my daily, and I’m upgrading it as I go along. It already had upgraded diff, hubs all round. So far I’ve done performance plugs, just had my Ingen CAI delivered this week, did brakes all around in the spring. Next up is new front end, after-market tower strut, and, when I can afford it, a tune, and bodywork/paint job. Picked mine (2006) up for 5k, with 165k on it. So far, so good! Folks have no idea what it is until you blow by them!

Love speed6’s, wanted one for so long. One of my first experiences with speeds in general was some dude in a silver speed6 pulling up to me in my little riced out NA 3 abs and blowing me out of the water after egging me into a race. Clean examples are so hard to find around here :/

Funny that you mentioned Mondeo vs mazda 6, as in america you could get the mazda 6 with a v6 engine, and it is the same duratec30 block found in the mondeo, slightly different tuned by mazda but when you work on the car you'll find lots of parts with the FoMoCo logo (FordMotorCompany). I have one. Mazda 6 3.0 V6 with 5 speed manual FWD. my 2 cents...
Sorry I took a while to respond, CZcams hid some comments for some reason? A V6 sounds good, we only ever got 2 and 2.3 Liter's, it wouldn't be the first time ford and Mazda used near identical engines at all. Even a Mazda 3 we have has FoMoCo written everywhere in the engine bay
I think another reason is because it doesn't come in a hatch. Just about every performance hatchback has a decent fan base. Not saying that you need to be a hatchback, just that the additional functionality draws in a large crowd. Like with speed3, wrx, sti, focus st, focus rs, civic type R, golf gti... Etc.
Yeah hatches are so much more usable, good point, even if a sedan has a bigger boot, you may be able to fit more in a hatch, though I don't think it's that important, as the stinkeye was the only STI (Not wrx) that was offered in hatch, but is probaly the least common, and also the Evo as well as all the BMW m cars

The speed 3 does feel a lot lighter then the speed 6 in every aspect the 6 is a lot better thru corners but also losses a lot of power when roll racing. Im still determined to beat wrx’s evo’s mustangs Camaros around my area the face they have when they get beat by something rarely anyone knows about its awesome.
Yeah, espically in the right stuff the 3 feels quite better, ahaha love the sleeper aspect of them both, noone shows any attension, till you blast past them

As a speed 6 owner for 8yrs now I came from a turbo rx7. Then I had a 👶. I have the stock fuel system maxed (about 380 whp) completely swapped every suspension piece and went widebody(9.5”wheel). I like how I’m the only one in my area with one let alone a black cherry mica(white is other rare color) and sport. The gt is way heavier.
That's nice bro, kids don't always mean you have to drive some boring eco minivan! I like that unlike most you also made sure it's handling was spot on as well as being fast!
What is it’s tuning potential? How good is the engine? What is it called? Was it in other cars? You need to answer these questions because no tuner cares about stock hp and torque,at least I don’t. Or competition stock for stock. What is the modification platform like for Mazda speed 6

(czcams.com/video/h18Dp5WDfEM/video.html) it's mostly focused on the speed 3, but they have the exact same mzr engine, only difference in the video is that the speed 6 will have like a 18% drivetrain loss simply cos of the awd, compared to the fwd speed 3 and it's 11% loss. They are very tunable, and reliable as any other modifed car if you maintain it, it's powered by the 2.3 litre direct injection 4 banger, the mzr, which can also be found in all speed 3s as well as the cx7 turbo. It has great potential

I love my speed 6 had it for 6 years now. I originally wanted a evo for years but didn't have evo money when I found out about the ms6 I decided I was gonna get one cause I could indeed afford it and after drivin evos as well id prefer my speed to have as a fast fun daily way more comfy and don't attract the popos. nicer interior as well just wish the seats had a little more bolster to em

They are nice, their still not the most huggy seats in the world, but very comfortable, and more supportive, I've also seen people put RX8 seats in too
I love the speed 6 (i own a 6 mps, less power i think) but the weight really lets it down in the sports department. Still it doesn't understeer that much.
It's a fun car that you can drive every day and still take to the nordschleife on weekends and that is something evo and sti and even the 3 mps can't do that well
Nah the speed 6 is just a rebadged 6 mps, same 274bhp iirc, yeah that's what I love about it, like a 6 can do it all, my family tried to use a 3 as a family car and it was way to small, the speed 6 just does everything so damn well
I picked up an 07 6 mps here in oz a few months ago as my new daily and it even comfortably fits a car seat in the back and is fun as he'll.

The Speed 6 only has 11hp more than a Speed 3. Also that 274hp is being distributed to all 4 wheels instead of 2. Still a great platform but I think this is why people still favor the 3 over the 6. I'd definitely be driving one if I lived in a State where it snowed ☃️

I have enjoyed my speed6 but I wish it weighted less. 3550lbs is CHONKY. But it's one of the few fun daily cars that's not super expensive or FWD.

Its not popular because its rare, and the awd doesnt activate unless its losing traction, basically its a 4x4 on auto mode. Also its the engine, sadly you have to do many mods before it becomes reliable like hpfp internals and the stock turbo is garbage it smokes. Plus people want to rather mod a honda than a speed because lets face it, the honda kseries has more aftermarket support and better/stronger engine.
It is rare, esp in Europe, and yeah on demand awd, though from what I hear it's quite an aggressive on demand system, aparently it kicks in relitivly easily. I mean the stock turbo can be reliable as long as you let it warm up and cool down, plus do frequent oil changes. And man so true, usally people who come to mazdaspeeds come from Hondas or like fiesta sts, and the speeds require a little more care to be reliable, though that's the same for most high performance cars, tho I admit mazdaspeeds require a little more care

Though the speed3 is more powerful than the civic but in my honest opinion the civic has the better interior, handling because its way lighter(minus when i got my coilovers), shifter feel is way better in the civic because honestly honda makes the best factory shifter, and ofcourse the engine, yes less powerful but that k20 engine reving til 8k with that vtec sound ooohhh man.

I've been looking for a good car with some good power but doesn't look crazy. Kinda want a car that just looks kinda plain. A sleeper. This is it. I've been looking at the 8th gen si or 2006 rsx type s but this one is so much better its crazy no one talks about it as much..

The speed6 is more likely to be compared to 2010-12 fusion sports. I believe they even have the same trans to if I’m not mistaken. Do a video on that one and I’ll have a few thousand subscribers come in and view it all

Over here we had the Mondeo ST220, which was a similar sized performance sedan, but not at all comparable if im honest, the Fusion seems much closer in terms of numbers, thatd be mad if they did have the same trans, I know the Speed 6 and mk3 Focus RS have basically the same engine, though the fusion is a 3.5
Damn I’m way late on this one lol but speed6 is the exact same car as the 10-12 Fusion their chassis are the CD3..what a joke how both cars got the same treatment BUT it’s a good generation later and now I’m seeing Fusion sport/Speed6 hitting impressive trap speeds against the top of the range car as if present time. Thanks to Technology for this.
You might wanna mention that you cannot fold down the rear seats on a speed 6 for anyone potentially wanting to buy a speed 6. Have a friend who choose the speed 3 over the 6 since he loads up stuff where he needs to fold down the seats (fishing equipment)

Yo just bought a 07 speed 3 smokes white out the exhaust thought it was head gasket but the engine idles runs and pulls fine any advice?
Most of the time when they start blowing white smoke the turbo is bad
Yeah @thebigD is most likely correct, your turbos going, but if you switch to 5w 40 oil (assuming you currently run 5w30 that'll reduce the smoke, perhaps try the old oil banjo bolt, occasionally that fixes it, and it's cheap and easy to do, I have full information about this in this video (czcams.com/video/mEgmMhauutc/video.html) it's the first problem we talk about!
I'm having the same issue on my speed6 but ever since I switched to 5w40 it has stopped and my high engine oil usage has stopped too. Im assuming that oil blew trough the turbo gasket into the exhaust whenever the turbo was really hot
Your turbo. Replace it. Problem solved forever. Get a BNR. If you get a new stock turbo, you will hate yourself.

Yeah that sucks, of they've had a bad old owner, you'll find out, they have to be treated carefully, and yeah so many ford parts, even under the hood of a standard 3, it only takes 10 seconds to find "fo mo co" stamped everywhere
All Performance Cars yeah the original owner of the car who did a lot to it knew what he’s doing but the guy in between fucked me. I broke the same cv axle over and over 4 times in my first 6 months of owners shit. Never beat the car either. Car came w a brand new one. He didn’t tell me. So he fixed it halfway and let it sit til he sold it.. to me

Have you never driven a FWD from the 90s? My little stock 100hp Integra had infinitely more torque steer than my Stage 2 Speed3. I bought the Speed3 from everyone saying,"OH THE TORQUE STEER" Yeah.. maybe if you're trying to slam gears on the bumpiest road in existence.. otherwise.. it's non-existent.

There are not popular or wanted because everything keeps breaking. Stupid things like a door sill cover or arm rest. Than the leaks. Than the unreliable engines and rushed assembly. STI’s, EVO, GTR’s are popular because time and time again, they keep performing the way you want.
Uhhhh I'm really not too sure about that, espically comparing it to an STI they are constantly taking large dumps, and the evos, well they just constantly have small issues.
With the speed 6s it really depends on how you treat it, if you treat it well they're fantastic, if you, then they'll make you pay, but far more consistent then an sti or Evo, if you're scared of these things and their reliability, stick to a honda or something
@@LifeOfTuners I’m 40yrs old and own a car dealership that specializes in older JDM cars in NYC. I’m not “scared” of any car lol! My personal vehicle is a 650 whp 1995 Nissan 300zx. I’d love to show it to you! And as far as Subaru taking a “dump”. Well.. last time I checked, there are more 200k mile plus subarus on the road than any Mazda. Also, like you said, “if you maintain them and treat them right”- that goes for all cars. Oh and I just finished experimenting with a 2013 Scion xB!! Pretty cool
Yeah now look at how many subarus there are on the road compared to speeds. And while generally treating a car right will make it treat you right, that's not the case for a lot of performance cars, espically thoughs Evos,
Mazdaspeed are pretty damn reliable when you maintain them well and treat them like they should

Bruh, you own a 300zx, there are way less then 300zxs then any mazdaspeed, so that means that noone wanted a 300zx either according to you. Look at your self now, you are being bias.
And I don't know where you live, but over here Mazdaspeeds are everywhere, so yeah, shows you don't really know what you're talking about :)
