Argghhhh Trust me, I love this car, but every car has its issues :(
1:44 Yes you can still go well over 500whp, but there's no axles rated for that... But that doesn't stop many people from running over 800whp

I think the major problem with the car is the transfer case. It's questionable to launch the car from a dig in fear of breaking the damn thing.

looking at getting one in the next couple weeks, are the axles an issue at all if I go a little hard while it's stock? or do they only become an issue when you start pushing more power? it's one of the downsides i've heard about with this model

The car has a permanent awd system... basically in a normal cruising the power to the rear wheel is so low (to have better fuel economy) that feels fwd... but it never EVER goes to full fwd... . There is no joint that can totally undo inside the transfer case. The car has an intelligent system... know when the car is for a more sporty usage, and locks the 50 50 power destribution. Is not better of a system compared to subaru or mitsubishi... is more power efficient, and adds accelleration to the start and more speed going out of a corner flooring it.

I stumbled across this video, cause I presently own a first gen 6, and love the lighting, seriously thinking about a project 6.
But most social media commenters never do there homework, and/or never bring all the necessary info to the table.
The first gen 6's power train is 17 year old Ford Tech, tuned by Mazda.. 17 years old 🤷🏾‍♂️ The Car didn't cost much new, and despite Mazda's ability to hold value on the resale market, especially they higher performance versions, that is because of there handling prowess, that makes them beloved by performance drivers.
You HP obsessed nerds should do your homework, instead of burning a Car because it does not fit your high HP needs, not everything is built to take 500+HP.
But you do get plenty of space if your a performance driver not needing a status Car, or not needing to fit your elderly, stiff, large Marge aunty in your 6, but that's on you, should've bought a midsize crossover, or a full size sedan 🤷🏾‍♂️
Mazda is pretty much all Mazda now, and a small Auto Mnfr, with the exception of any Mnfr partnerships I might not know about, which bothers a lot of people, like with the Supra, but that is quite normal and a growing trend, but I do know of the Toy Mazda partnership.
Son with love social media, and hope.. be men be women, and do some homework before you go burning something or somebody 🤦🏾‍♂️ I'm driving a fine drivers Car for what I paid for it, it felt great on the twisties of the southeast where I bought it, despite I am not a FWD Guy.

What is it with the fearmongering around the timing drive?
My 2007 CX-7 GT has a chain to operate the VVT drive...
... and my 2013 Speed 3 as well.
These can be observed by opening the oil refill cap and looking
My 18+ psi (high gear/speed) CX-7 has 120,000 miles, the chain has little wear...
My Speed 3 is still smelling new... I blew the turbo seals racing the first version of the SRT Cherokee, but other than that everything is fine
The CX-7 had real issue with the AC compressor... I am using the third unit so far (crankshaft blows up), and of course the VVT failed the first year under warranty. Rear driving and stop lights destroy the light unit from the inside by heat, using led lights solves the problem... and of course the transmission overheats when driving at high speeds... up to 70+ deg Celsius above ambient, that's 110+ which will degrade fluid and components... installing an extra cooler shaves 15 degrees off, that means 55+ above ambient.
But to be honest not even the weak AC would make me change it for a pathetic VW Q5, I mean Audi (2015 I almost made that mistake... VW: talk about reliability)
Only Honda is more reliable... but the price to be ricer has be paid he he
    /edit
Scotty Kilmer made a big fuss about Mazda being unreliable... he even lied about the CX-7 transmissions... being made by a different manufacturer than the one making them, same as Toyota... "his beloved Toyota"
He is full of caca... friends with Camry and 4Runner have severe issue with suspension and chassis, the big SUV can't even align the front beam lights at all, no adjustment... pathetic, but "Toyota is good"… geez

    • @LifeOfTuners
      @LifeOfTuners  Před 3 lety

Yeah, the cars with that engine have timing chains that stretch (elongate) over time (the 2010+ Speed 3s don't have this issue)
Usually around 90k miles they tend to go, but I've seen some make it to 140k.
It's quite well publicised, I included it in part 2 of MazdaSpeed common problems. While it isn't that bad, as most cars have a timing belt (which stretch) but a car with a chain, should not stretch, but they do
