      @@i_wouldprefer_not_to1196 I totally agree. It does still hurt and I will always miss her and so will my other security dog as they were very close but life goes on. We have to deal with these things in life but still have to keep pushing past the feelings and carry on. I'm actually starting a channel called Bron & Co talking about mental health and dealing with feelings like this.
      I was robbed of my job due to mental illness and an assault (anxiety,depression,and it also caused me to gain epilepsy 4 years ago) I suffered at work and I don't want anyone else to feel as bad as I have. Just started recording the first video so it will be out soon hopefully. My other dog might make an appearance if he stops whining while recording! What you said doesn't sound crap, it's true. I've found your mental approach to things decides how well you can handle things. Of course things will hurt and hurt badly and it will take a long time for things to get close to back to normal (whatever that may be!) but it can happen. Thank you for your comment and I wish you and your family all the best in dealing with what you are going through now.

    Cried as soon as I listened to this. (locked door, pillow over face) The song and stories remind me of the little boy I once was so so so long ago. I miss that little boy with all my heart. Life tends to crush even the most stoic of souls. I hope and pray that the tears and bleeding heart of mine will not be noticed nor pitied by my own little son. I hope. Then again painfully felt nostalgic memories can never be related to younger generations... up until my own son someday carries my old decrepit body up to my bed and kisses my forehead saying, "Love you Dad".

    • @Dustshoe
      @Dustshoe Před 6 lety +11

      Yes, in a sense we were better connected in the olden days. These days, nobody knows who's watching what, unfortunately. Certain programmes from the past instilled a certain sense of calm and even values. If not for the presence of parents also watching such a TV programme (family TV entertainment was a familiar phrase in the early 80s), and passing off the odd remark in relation to a scene in which a particular quality about life was characterised, or which revealed the story's positive values, the good things about it may not have become so apparent to that parent's child. Those things mattered, because the story, a reflection of our society, mattered and should still matter.
      Britain got a fourth TV channel in 1982 (Channel 4 it was called!). And most of the population up until the end of the 80s persisted with 4 channels. If there was no television possible, I dread to see the mayhem on the streets from bored youth that would have been the result. But now too many channels today, a blizzard of them on top of the internet and mobiles and gazillions of ads and everything else, means a dilution in the power of story to lift people's spirits. There's too much nonsense and rot that people today get hooked on.
      I suppose the thrill of watching this imaginative and pleasant TV series from the early/mid 80s was the thought that 1) you got a glimpse of Canada (otherwise it was a trip to the public library to look up an encyclopaedia, or hope the latest National Geographic at the newsagents had a feature on Canada; 2) this was a TV show everybody would like and nobody would fight over for control of the TV and its amazing 3 channels! In a sense, a little bit of the thrill was in the achievement of watching something ephemeral, on a 'device', on a box that was not personally yours: yet you were the entertainer to your siblings, your parents, your friend next door, maybe even your grand-parent who had called round. A community enterprise. 3) What you were watching was something you knew your friends were also watching (particularly if it was wet outside!) - there was no fear of missing out (none of that FOMO phenomenon today).
      I suppose what I'm getting at is that with so few channels in those days, the imperative was to entertain, to have 'light entertainment'. Entertainment dominated the airwaves in the old days. The TV schedules, as diminutive as they were back then, were printed in the newspapers as ' TV Entertainment'. The variety show and quiz shows as well as sitcoms were very popular. How could it have been otherwise? Today's TV offering is great - if you can see the good flakes in the blizzard of bad flakes. But even if you can see them, who else is watching? No longer does the good dominate the airwaves. Nonsense does. And the quality of the story has diminished. Britain's young people have reported last week that they are unhappy. Why? Their grand-parents were happier, were they? Maybe. Too many flickering ads and not enough stories of quality are they exposed too. That's my theory.

    Funny thing is, I barely remember this but I was very young 3 or 4 years maybe I watched it every morning, I was obsessed.
    One episode, my mum found 4 year old me afterwards crying in my room, I remember her asking me, was it the TV programme, it was but I didn't want to admit it was or that I was crying. I think we'd watched it and near the end I ran upstairs No idea what the episode was - but it must have been a real tear jerker as this programme only ever made me happy.
    Beautiful programme, thank you to all involved.
