I've really loved all the historical games on this channel. I've always been a big fan of chess in the 50s-70s, which doesn't get covered much by Levi or agad. Seeing the Petrosian games on this channel is what made it one of my favourite chess channels. I'd love to see more videos on games from the past

Yours is the only chess channel that I watch. I tried the others years ago, but they lacked your skill as a communicator. You speak clearly and you explain why one move might have been better than another... or whatever it is. You have a very easy narrative style that I find appealing. I've been playing chess on and off for more than 60 years and I still play with my former next door neighbor by text, since we're in different states now. Since you've asked for suggestions, would you be able to talk about the different chess openings and why one strategy might work while another might not? I'd also encourage you to talk about middlegames and endgames. Why is one better than another? How, for example, does black develop the pieces when white has the starting advantage? Thanks for your channel. I very much appreciate what you do.

I would really like to see a long series of short videos on tactics and/or on endgames. They don't have to, and probably even shouldn't be from games by top grandmasters, past or present, they might be from your blitz games, or random games that you came across and found interesting. But they should have some analysis and explanations why the best move or moves are actually the best and what the thought process should have been in order to find those best moves.

Hello. I enjoyed very much your series of best games. Some of them were not widely known. Well done! I would like the idea of you making the channel a kind of history one, covering important moments of the past, game collections from great players etc or even games related to certain themes. Also, covering topics that are usually overlooked by other streamers would be a nice idea. Having said that, I wouldn’t ask you to make another Fischer saga, since we can find it everywhere but, for example, I would very much like to see the 1927 wch match, maybe in relation to the development of the ideas in the QG. Keep the good job. Have a nice day

  • @SozialpsychologiemitProfErb

    Dear Sam,
Thanks a lot for your videos that I do love watching. Not only are your chess analyses instructive and entertaining. I also highly appreciate the way you present your content, in paticular the elaborated language you use. Thus, I practice my own English skills while watching. 🙂
I personally would love more games from the past. As an intermediate player the chess by Capablanca, Rubinstein, Petrosian etc. at least appear to be more comprehensible that those of the present highly dynamic style. I'd also like coverages of famous tournaments like San Sebastian 1911, series on a specific player and his/her development, and matches like the Smyslov vs. Botwinnik 1957 world championship. Also, the entertainment factor would be higher if the audience did not know the winner of a game or match in advance. It's more fun to stay curious until the end of the video.
Keep going! All the best to you and your channel!

Hello! I'm 2300+ online & discovered your channel a few days ago and find it incredible! Your playlists are just amazing and I plan to watch them all!
Good luck for your new videos. I hope people will find your channel because you clearly deserve it. I think the most important for the next is to make the content you will enjoy making!
If I could choose only one playlist, I would say something similar to Endgame Strategy by Shereshevsky with lots of general principles because it's useful to everyone (from 1200 to 2300) and very useful/instructive. But I'm not sure how much people would be interested.
Anyway, good luck with everything :)

I don’t watch Levy, and less and less Agadmator, so I guess I’m not a general viewer, more of an applied chess knowledge enthusiast. I’m an opening/repertoire type viewer lately. My favorite vid ever is Schrantz’s French blueprint vids because I was able to apply the ideas. Watching his gambit stuff can be entertaining too. So I have no idea what new, popular format you can do, but I’m interested in seeing your ideas play out.

The key is to be a good communicator. You are a good communicator.
Also, I like content with games at my own level. I get bewildered when Gotham or Agadmator take us through the latest Magnus or Hikaru incomprehensible escapade. I think that is why Levy's "Guess the elo" is so popular.

Very interesting video thanks for putting it out, subscribed! Your goals are fascinating and similar to my own. Not so much the part about only looking to do original content, though it's defo an angle I'm constantly looking for as well. But the passion and the drive to reach more people - I'm the same in that I just love making videos, have been a fan of chess on YT for 15 years and now I love actually contributing to the space. Would love to chat/collab some time if you fancied!

Will certainly miss the best of series, perhaps the most instructive content on youtube. Hoping to see more older games. Agadmator occasionally does a saga of a player, it would be interesting to see you tackle that format. I feel you would have great insight into how certain players choose positional or tactical approaches, and how that evolves over the course of their career. Looking forward to any future content though!

@@sam_copeland Another thing that would be interesting would be an openings refuted series, showing how once popular lines at the highest levels became virtually extinct due to a certain players prep (e.g. scheveningen -- keres attack). Would be a cool combination of history, high level play, and games people may not otherwise know

If you really want to get to 100,000 subscribers, then you have to appeal to a wider chess audience. That means you do have to cover big tournaments and big current games like agadmator does. Then, during the times there are no current tournaments, that's when you can do your deep dives and highly edited content. Otherwise, it will be 2025 before you get to 100K.

    • @sam_copeland
