@@lll9416 Nope. If I lived during this time I would have loved to be in it. My voice is great sounding but too quiet. I'm nowhere near powerful enough to fit in with THESE amazing people. It's why I can't be famous. Singing onstage without a microphone, no one would hear me.
It was all for nothing, 30 plus years later and nothing has changed. African people still have dirty water, children go hungry and they still have curable diseases. They should have called it bandaid for Africa as that was what it was. Just a bandaid!
Once again google deletes comments that don’t break their own rules! Sadly Africa still has dirty water, children still go hungry and still has plenty of diseases. The song should have been called bandaid for Africa because not a lot has changed in 35 years. Lots of money raised but didn’t do much good. This comment doesn’t break any CZcams rules! Leave it up!

They recorded one night after the Grammy Awards show . It was written by Lionel Richie and Michael Jackson. When you watch the 1980s, how many of these singers have passed away.
@@Arthur.in.the.Fridge I'm personally not a fan, but you don't think she would have been among these people if it had been her time? And really...come on. They actually stopped making great singers at some point in the last decade? OK........
They certainly did. The first night I ever got on CZcams I watched this and someone asked, 'Who IS that guy at (time)? It was Steve Perry. I couldn't stop smiling.
Yeah, for me it was Bruce Springsteen, Ray Charles, and Cyndi Lauper. Those three were highlights of a great cast all around. Bruce and Ray Charles, they added so much to the song. If I was pinned down to pick one, it would be Ray Charles. That man and his voice, both, are gems.
I'm sure to Mr. Hall's chagrin, I too feel Cyndi's spot is a wonderful highlight... I'll add Dionne Warwick to the list of call-outs below. When she comes in, her talent just shines through.
This was shot at about 4am, after the Grammys. They went from the awards show to the studio and laid all of this down in one night. The biggest musicians on the planet at the time, putting egos aside and collaborating to raise money for famine relief. Could you imagine trying to get today's primadonnas even into the same room?
My favorite part is that all the vocalists are doing an exaggerated version of themselves. That's the best MJ impression by MJ. Springsteen by Springsteen. Ray Charles by Ray Charles. Cyndi Lauper by Cyndi Lauper. Even Stevie Wonder by Stevie Wonder. It's amazing! I think they were like "When they hear this record, I want them to know EXACTLY who is singing."
That moment between Stevie and the Boss is absolutely iconic. Apparently, Springsteen was so nervous in doing this, as he was in awe of Stevie and his music.
There are people who belittled this effort because it didn't solve world hunger. Of course, it didn't. How could a song do that? I was a young mom who didn't have much money to share back then, but I was inspired to give a little bit. There were a lot of us who gave what we could. And moving people to help is so impactful. That was the power of this song.
It’s like evacuating many people from a mountain, and then being criticized for not being able to stop the huge avalanche. I guess there will always be those who do that. You could cure cancer, and you can safely bet there will still be some people bashing you for not magically creating a total panacea.
There was an emergency happening in Ethiopia at that time. The purpose of this and similar events was simply to feed as many people and save as many lives as possible at that moment.

Thank you so much for getting us this information. I missed a couple even though I saw this on MTV when it came out in 1985. Great job and have a great day 😊👍
Hits me on the day it comes on the radio stations worldwide. Hits me still . Be clever watch the British version of this too . And take a look on Live Aid concert . Biggest worldwide. Live in two continent .
@@ivofelden8033 the UK group was called Band Aid and their charity single was "Do They Know It's Christmas" and the heavy metal contingent was called Hear 'n Aid and their charity single was "Stars"
The amount of talent shown in this video is crazy. All are top notch artists from many different eras & genres of music. Don't think something like this will ever happen again. Sadly quite a few artists that are featured are no longer with us.
USA for Africa doing "We Are The World" was the 2nd massive charity super group do try to end hunger in Africa. It was organized by Quincy Jones. The 1rst supergroup was from the UK called Band Aid did the song "Do They Know Its Christmas" and was organized by Bob Geldof. The 3rd was a supergroup from Canada called Northern Lights and did the song "Tears Are Not Enough" and was organized by David Foster. Back in the day (1984) these 3 groups from all these countries showed us all that the world could indeed unite to help and make a change. Awesome reaction. Thanks.
@@abdab7 You're right I did forget that one. It came out 2 years after the first 3 (in 1986) Bob Geldof asked some metal bands in 1986 in they'd contribute to Live Aid that year and "Stars" by Hearin Aid was organized mainly by Ronnie James Dio and Vivian Campbell who were both members of the band Dio at the time. Thanks very much for pointing out I missed it.
@crowflight719 It was Harry Belafonte who got it going. After seeing what Bob Geldof did, Harry felt the US should do something. He got Ken Kragen on board, manager of Lionel Ritchie and Kenny Rogers. Quincy joined and the rest was history. Harry turned down a solo part, and took a spot on the back row next to Dan Ackroyd.
What a fine line it is to walk between celebrating the unity of so much of the Americsn music industry and mourning the loss of so many of these icons. Heaven must be a joyful place with the likes of Tina Turner. Ray Charles, James Ingram, Harry Bellafonte, Kenny Roger's, and the others whose lives are ended. I hope future generations see this and use it as a springboard to learn and appreciate the musical geniuses who gave the landscape of my life so much joyful music. R.I.P. to all, sing for us from above 😇🥰🎼🎼🎶🌹
There is actually a documentary on CZcams that shows the making of this video, from when the artists arrive to the studio immediately after the American Music Awards, to all of them meeting each other, some for the first time, each signing autographs for one another, and dividing up who was singing what. I think you'd really enjoy seeing the artists "letting their hair down" around one another and having some fun.
Good morning Aileen 😊 Absolutely on point to this reaction of We Are the World😊👍 This was a monster hit in 1985... It played on the radio it seemed like forever. I agree with the fellow CZcamsr this is a performer quiz... How many can you name??? Yes it had a huge impact and much much funds were raised for this effort ❤️❤️ such love. And yes I agree with you that have things changed that much around the world and all this time in close to 40 years??? We are very busy with our own lives and then a message like this comes along and shakes us to our very core. Yes, you said it correctly that we do not know what other people are going through. They put on a nice front but inside they are hurting. One of the reasons why we love your channel is your very perceptive. You see behind the face that is being projected. This is the reason why you are the best. You are very unique and very empathetic. I will be watching this many times during the day and at the end of the day I will read all the comments and share with you at that time. Until then... Have a great day you and Arya with much love 😊👍💪❤️
To not do a pause out of respect shows that you are a truly kind soul. Every other reaction on this pauses at times when it hurts the message. GOD BLESS you ALWAYS.
Thank you for not pausing the video. This came out in 1985. I was stationed in England with the US Air Force at the time. It was constantly being played..and deserved to be. The „Live Aid“ concert was performed in July 1985 as well. It was a great time for people coming together to help with some of the worlds problems. And the artists REALLY stepped UP!!!! Cheers
For me, it was Bruce and Ray Charles. Those two... man. They really added a lot to the song. Another highlight was Cindi Lauper cause when she comes in, it was really good.
After having seen the documentary about this called The greatest night in pop my mind was absolutely blown away. I can’t believe how they pulled it all together. And the sweetest thing I felt was seeing Diana Ross at the end (when just about everybody has left already) saying that she never wans to leave the studio after the recording. Watching her in this video is amazing - seems like such a warm hearted and super classy lady.
As young as you are, you may not recognize all the artists involved. But every single face you see was a star at this time. They all had at least one hit, and most of them had several. This was the cream of the musical scene in 1985. All coming together to save tens of thousands of lives. 🥰😇
When this song dropped you could not escape it! I thought I'd never want to hear it again. I was also young and self-absorbed and couldn't see it's importance or what an iconic moment this would become. There are artists from many different genres. Some of these artists were already legends. Some were just beginning their careers and are now legends. And some were killing it on the charts week after week. And for one night, for a good cause, they all stood as equals. This will never happen again. Ultimately, after growing up, I realized how iconic this moment was and that I was there to witness it from the beginning.
VERY WELL SAID YOUNG LADY!!!!!❤💪🏼👏🏼🔥✌🏼💯🎯 I'm 62 years old I remember when it came out and it took off and grew like a like a wildfire , it got worldwide it WASN'T BIG it WASN'T LARGE it was FREAKING HUGE , and of course the proceeds went to feed Africa plain and simple , but it was cool for me , watching a younger generation like yourself react to it and of course your reaction to it it was awesome for me and for that , THANK YOU 💯🙏🏾♥️✌🏼
You can start doing other songs from all the singers in here and you'll never go wrong. Greatest group ever assembled. No autotune, no egos, just pure talent.
One of the things I really loved about this, is that each of the soloists were able to bring their signature style, and still have them all fit together so beautifully.
I graduated high school in the mid 80s. This song was played SO SO SO much that I burned out bad on it for a decade. Looking back though it was an exceptional collaboration and the musicality of these icons is beyond impressive. This track/video is definitely a must watch for anyone who thinks they appreciate music.
This song was sung at my graduation in 1986. It was and is a powerful song and what we need even today. Though the circumstances are different, the message is still true. If we want a better life, we need to come together, not stay separate. I believed it then, and I believe it now. The 80s were both good and bad, but to understand what I mean you would have to watch a documentary on the decade of the 80s.
Here is a list of all the singers, there was also a long list of musicians playing also. Conductor • Quincy Jones Soloists (in order of appearance) • Lionel Richie • Stevie Wonder • Paul Simon • Kenny Rogers • James Ingram • Tina Turner • Billy Joel • Michael Jackson • Diana Ross • Dionne Warwick • Willie Nelson • Al Jarreau • Bruce Springsteen • Kenny Loggins • Steve Perry • Daryl Hall • Huey Lewis • Cyndi Lauper • Kim Carnes • Bob Dylan • Ray Charles Chorus (alphabetically) • Dan Aykroyd • Harry Belafonte • Lindsey Buckingham • Mario Cipollina (of Huey Lewis and the News) • Johnny Colla (of Huey Lewis and the News) • Sheila E. • Bob Geldof • Bill Gibson (of Huey Lewis and the News) • Chris Hayes (of Huey Lewis and the News) • Sean Hopper (of Huey Lewis and the News) • Jackie Jackson • La Toya Jackson • Marlon Jackson • Randy Jackson • Tito Jackson • Waylon Jennings • Bette Midler • John Oates • Jeffrey Osborne • Anita Pointer (of the Pointer Sisters) • June Pointer (of the Pointer Sisters) • Ruth Pointer (of the Pointer Sisters) • Smokey Robinson
Kudos to Quincy Jones and Michael Jackson. To get all these great artists in a room, putting any egos aside, to raise money for a cause, was beautiful. I get chills every time i see it.
It was actually Harry Belafonte and Kenny Rogers manager Ken Kragen who did it. Quincy produced the music and Michael helped write the song. That was their only involvement
Quincy Jones put a sign on the door “leave your ego at the door”. A cool fact, all of the soloists were Grammy Winners! It debuted on the radio all over the world at the exact same time. Imagine at one moment we all stopped and listened in the same exact moment and listened together on every station all over the world! There was an extreme famine in Africa at the time. Large part of the population were dying of starvation. This raised extreme amounts of money thru donation and T-shirt sales. Some artists you may not have recognized: Lionel Richie, Paul Simon, Hall and Oats, Sheila E and the pointer sisters, Al Juraeu, Bob Dylan, Kenny Loggins(Footloose, Highway to the Danger Zone) Diana Ross(The Wiz) Steve Perry(Journey) Kim Karnes, Harry Belafonte, Dion Warwick, Bette Mitler, Huey Lewis, Kenny Rogers, Randy Jackson, Jermaine Jackson, Latoya Jackson, Tina Turner, Bruce Springsteen, Cyndi Lauper, Ray Charles, Dan Aykroyd(Blues Brothers) Beautiful Job!❤✌️
there are a lot of things about this video that kick me right in the feels, not the least of which is I probably have an album from nearly every singer on this list (this video is basically a library of like 90% of my 80's music collection) - but the one that gets me the most is the very end, when they're all lined up and singing together like a sunday school chorus. You've got to keep in mind - these were THE musical artists of the 80's. Like, nearly ALL OF THEM...all in a room together, all going so far back to basics they ended up looking like kids doing a school choir or some such. By the end, they shed so much of the glam and fame of musical stardom and just sing. Together. Yah, the song/video didn't end world hunger. Then. But we're still playing it 40ish years later...so there's still time...
I know I don't have to tell you who all the artists were. You recognized them (nearly) all, I'm sure. But, what you may not know is that they didn't get one dime out of the sales of this single back then. It all went to supplies for the Horn of Africa that, as you know was suffering under a serio0us drought. I think, Quincy Jones is the only one who could have put this together. What a great job! I still get chills every time I hear it! Thank you for sharing it with us, Aileen!
I remember what a huge deal this was in 1985 when it played on MTV. They were trying to save starving children in Africa. There has never been that much talent in the same room.
This came out as I was finishing high school and these were all my idols back then. What a line up and some no longer with us. The 80s were just a good period, before mobiles and social media, when we actually hung out with each other and the music was awesome. Always gives me goose bumps hearing this song. There is a documentary about the making of the song and trying to get all these stars in one place at the same time. It actually went all through the night to early morning as people had to fly in after concerts etc. Amazing it came off and amazing how back then we were teaching each other lessons and it seems in 2024 we have learnt nothing, with war in Ukraine, Gaza etc. Maybe we need another mass global concert like Live Aid.
40 years later and the song still hits home. This was the cultural Mountain Top that has yet to be climbed again. And the Emotion was genuine and the intention was honorable. In 2010, they tried a re-make called "We are the World 25 for Haiti" that turned out to be a disaster. The Producers just changed the Lyrics and convinced well meaning artists to donate their time and talent, but it all wound up being a Money Grab. Most of the funds went to the Corporations (like the Clinton Foundation, as "Operating costs") and the Haitian Politicians pockets and the Supplies were left rotting in the crates on Haitian airfields. The Haitian People only received crumbs from it and Our Government had to step in with relief. As Noble as "We are the World" was, the "25 for Haiti" showed us how low some people would go.
There was a ridiculous amount of dropping the ball in the relief effort for Haiti. Things like that need to be fully transparent in every step of operation, or it will be extremely vulnerable to shady opportunists. It happens far too often with charity organizations (which isn’t to say it happens in every case, but it shouldn’t be allowed to happen at all), both of truly good and ill intentions. If nothing untoward is going on, why wouldn’t such an organization be absolutely willing to keep their books completely open to independent verification? I don’t like to be cynical about it, but that’s just how it goes.
@@Steven-lb4bl Thank you! I don't fault the cause at all. If it sent a lot of money for famine relief then really that's all that matters. Song wise though, it just sucks. I think Band-Aid (and LiveAid) benefitted from having one clear leader in Bob Geldhof and everyone seemed to put their egos aside to make a great song that still gets played to this day. But maybe it also speaks to how innovative 80's brit pop and new wave had become, while USA for Africa relied on the same old boring mishmash of huge rock and pop stars, none of whom were capable of collaborating on something any more inventive than "We Are The World." But again, if Michael Jackson's appearance sold more records and raised more money then that was more important. Although, it does beg the question as to whether funds for these songs continue to be funneled to African charities. In which case Band-Aid playing the long game with a real, lasting classic maybe had the right idea all along.
Ultimate music knowledge test - being able to list the musicians in this video as they appear. It's not an easy task! 😅 EDIT: I was born in '97, so a good majority of these voices are familiar, but there are a few that still confuse me. 😊
This song was recorded in one night. They did it after an awards show cuz it was the only time they could get that many people in the area at once. They broughr back Ray Charles, James Ingram, and stevie Wonder to finish putting it together. The one person who.doesnt get enough credit was the conductor Quincy Jones. He is a genius and made all the right choice of who should sing with who. He put a sign at the door that said check your egos. Now let's see if I can remember each artist in order Lionel Ritchis Stevie Wonder Pauo Simon Kenny Roger's James Ingram Tina Turner Billy Joel Michael Jackson Diana Ross Dion Warwick Willie Nelson Al Juerrro (bad spelling lol) Bruce Springsteen Kenny Loggins Steve Perry Daryl Hall Huey Lewis Cyndi Lauper Kim Carnes Boob Dylan Ray Charels Now the chorus I don't know all names but people who i know Most of the Jackson's Pointer sisters Harry Belefonte Sheila E Better Midler John Oates Smokey Robinson Waylon Jennings (I think) And Dan Akroyd (the actor). He was doing alot for Africa.and they asked if he would like to join the chorus. What a great song for a great cause. It is a timeless song.
Beautiful reaction Aileen. The single greatest ensemble of music talent ever. This came out when I was 8 yrs old , I still get the biggest goosebumps from MJ, Stevie, Bruce, Cindy, and Ray Charles. ❤️🙏
This was a joint effort of Lionel Ritchie and Michael Jackson with the help of Kenny Rogers. It was recorded at Roger’s’ LA studio “Lion Share” in 1985. A sign was placed above the door asking everyone to leave their egos at the door.
Not pausing because it would be disrespectful? That is a very rare and admirable thing. I feel that not subscribing would also be disrespectful. Subscribed.
Always a classic and always hits hard. Rip to all the legends in here that are no longer with us. Quincy was a genius for putting Stevie and Bruce together for that duet part.
This recording/ video was recorded one night after an award show and everyone of these huge stars left their egos at the door to try and help people they didn’t know . This song was written by Lionel Richey and Michael Jackson .
As a teenager through the 80s, I dare to say that rivaled any mass of talent in any one recording room, EVER! GOD bless them, their efforts, their cause and their contribution to music history! Wow!
I don’t believe I have seen anyone with more empathy in there eyes whilst watching a music video and it’s beautiful to see amazing passionate song just like it’s Christmas time the uks version that came before ….big love Aileen world needs more of this 🙏💜
I think this was '84! 40 years ago!!! I remember when this debuted. We got to reenact this in my 6th-grade music class. It was very fun. There's a documentary on Netflix, I believe, on how this all came together and some fun behind-the-scenes stuff, too. Thank you for doing this video. It brought back memories and emotions, and I felt them through you as well.
I must have watched this music video a million-times over the past decade but your raw reaction had me in tears. I could feel the love, compassion eminating from you. ❤
This was sick when it happened. The logistics were insane. Remember, this is before internet or phones. Everything had to be communicated pretty much by phone. Ray was great! Bruce & Stevie - legendary. Europe did something very similar which was very good as well run by "Pink" from Pink Floyd's "The Wall" movie better known as Bob Geldof. Summer of '84 or '85 was Live Aid that was done live in both Philadelphia PA & London England. This is the power the elite can do when they make a move to do so.
Lionel and MJ wrote it and the one who wanted came up with the idea was Harry Belafonte who recently passed away and was one of the great humanitarian's of the 20th century. Could definitely recognize the many familiar faces.. Some of which we have lost to death, some dealing with health issues have lost their voice like Huey Lewis.. The talent in that room is surreal and it's great they came together for such a powerful message.
Thank you ma’am for such a beautiful reaction and you were spot on. I remember when it came out I’m a little older than you. I’m 48 now I’m remember when it first aired and you were so right it’s not just giving it a place was giving to everybody that everybody needs to join and come together as one much love to you and thank you again for the lovely reaction that you gave and such respect that you gave the artist in the video❤❤❤❤❤❤ MJ and Lionel Richie wrote this
This whole creation was put together by iconic activist and entertainer Harry Belafonte who is the Black dude with the sweater singing in the back. He thought of an American version of what British Band Aid production did the year before with “Do They Know It’s Christmas” and Harry wanted it to be for African relief, and then Lionel and Michael co wrote the song and Quincy produced it. The only fault with the whole thing is that one of the men who helped pioneer music as we know it, Smokey Robinson did not have a solo but he was right upfront with the rest of the Motown family, Diana, Stevie, and Michael.
It was recorded in 1985. Your reaction to this masterpiece is the best reaction I've ever seen about the song. And your commentaries also very good. 🙂👍🏻
I'm shocked that nobody has already posted this list: Lionel Richie - 0:51 Stevie Wonder - 1:04 Paul Simon - 1:08 Kenny Rogers - 1:18 James Ingram - 1:24 Tina Turner - 1:31 Billy Joel - 1:38 Michael Jackson - 1:44 Diana Ross - 1:57 Dionne Warwick - 2:13 Willie Nelson - 2:27 Al Jarreau - 2:36 Bruce Springsteen - 2:40 Kenny Loggins - 2:46 Steve Perry - 2:53 Daryl Hall - 3:01 Huey Lewis - 3:13 Cyndi Lauper - 3:19 Kim Carnes - 3:27 Bob Dylan - 4:13 Ray Charles - 4:52 Timestamps should all be fairly correct after adjusting for Aileen's intro. Every single person there is worth going down the rabbit hole for. They are all masters.
Loved the looks on your face..your were really touched. Can't blame ya.. it's still a beautiful song/performance now, hands down.. My favorite parts : Cyndi Lauper's power note coming out of the coda, Stevie and Bruce's trading off and Brother Ray taking us out like we in church .
Apparently the head of the whole project, Quincy Jones, placed a sign on the studio's entrance door that read: "When you enter this room, leave your ego outside" 🙂
I never pass by listening to this marvelous collaboration of the biggest musical stars of that time! So many of them have passed on...Ray Charles, Tina Turner, Huey Lewis, Harry Belafonte, Kenny Rogers...it's always a delight!
it was recorded in 1985 and I believe early 1985 cause I remember hearing it for the first time on the radio when I was living Florida at the time and the radio stations were constantly playing this song. Every time I hear this song it gives me goose bumps. Like most people have said we will never ever see this kind of caliber of talent do this again sadly. The 80's were the best decade ever.
This song doesn't need to be paused for reactions. I can't imagine the own ers of this song not wanting it to be seen as much as possible. That being said, I'm 45 years old. I've heard this song thousands of times and still Stevie and Bruce will bring me to tears
In 2009 the singers of my country (Italy) inspired by this video, all together created a song as a fundraiser to help rebuild the city of L'Aquila that had been hit a few days earlier by one of the most violent earthquakes in my country.
A great display of all the musical talent we had back in the 80s. All coming together for a good cause. The 1980s was such a special time for music. Thank you for reacting to this.
I was born in 1964 the last year of the Baby Boomers. In the 70's and 80's Artists crossed Genres and wrote music for each other and performed together. It was all about the Music.
Imagine singers doing that today...it would never happen. And all those people in the video are legends in their genres. They all left their egos at the door of the studio.😊
Absolutely lovely reaction! The 80s were a great time with absolutely great musicians! Wish I could go back to the 80s. Great reaction and keep up the great work!
So many HUGE artists in this song. You could spend 2 months just doing songs from these artists, and every song would be a top 5 hit! It would be nice if artists would come together for causes like this today. Ray Charles really brings the song home. He needs some more love in the world of reactions - he was an early giant of modern music.
This came out in 85 after Bob Geldof and Midge Ure had written and recorded Do They Know It's Christmas in 84 here in Britain, Geldof was driven because of the hunger he had seen in Africa, the fundraising from both records and the joint Live Aid concerts in 85 from Wembley Stadium London, and from John F. Kennedy Stadium in Philadelphia, was given in aid to Africa, both concerts were beamed live around the world and watched by nearly 2 billion people which due to the technology at the time was an amazing achievement 🇬🇧
Hoy esta canción suena a hipocresía. Gringolandia es la causante de la mayoría de los males de Africa. Mi comentario sincero desde Cúcuta en la frontera colombo venezolana 🇨🇴🇻🇪 Sur América
This was the American song for Live Aid and followed the London one, "Feed the World", which was brought out at Christmas. Check out that one, both the studio version and the live one at the end of Live Aid, and I know well your reaction to Queen's performance at that concert.
The amount of talent in that room has never been matched since

I'm sure to Mr. Hall's chagrin, I too feel Cyndi's spot is a wonderful highlight... I'll add Dionne Warwick to the list of call-outs below. When she comes in, her talent just shines through.
her performance gives chills
80s-90s Cyndi is a tour de force, such a powerhouse voice coming out that petite frame.
I love how you just sit there and listening/watching and we can see the reaction on your face No need to pause every 30 seconds to talk. Loved it!
I believe he was on tour and his voice was super raw & wasn't sure how much he could give
@@davidforestieri4784 Hmm, interesting. I must give Springsteen's autobiography a listen.
He certainly did a fantastic job with Stevie in the song. 🙂
@aleclewis9123 there was a recent documentary on the making of the song/video....I believe it's in that it comes up if you're interested
@@davidforestieri4784 Is that the Netflix documentary called The Greatest Night In Pop you're talking about?
@@aleclewis9123 I believe so
There are people who belittled this effort because it didn't solve world hunger.
Was Supposed To Help Not Cure It And Have Sum People Become Aware Of What Was Possible Of Change...If Any?😮😊
There is significantly less hunger today than there was 40 years ago.
@@havok6280 not true
There was an emergency happening in Ethiopia at that time. The purpose of this and similar events was simply to feed as many people and save as many lives as possible at that moment.

Thank you for honoring the singers and musicians. What an amazing song it was.
Dan Aykroyd singing, I did not realized this before, thank you.
The amount of talent shown in this video is crazy. All are top notch artists from many different eras & genres of music. Don't think something like this will ever happen again. Sadly quite a few artists that are featured are no longer with us.
There will never again be that much musical talent in one room. Ever.
Thanks.
You forgot the metal guys did Hearin' Aid. The song was called Stars.
And Swedish metal aid 😀 1985
Shout out to Midge Ure who's contribution to Band Aid gets forgotten about sometimes.
The 1980's and 90's were peak America and I consider myself lucky to have grown up in those times. Truly a special time to be alive.
Listened for40 years, still😮 loving and crying and not ashamed as a grown up man. Just history of greatness.
Your reactions are always a joy to watch and I respect your authenticity and giving your true thoughts on every video
Cheers
Just think how many of these singers we have lost since this came out
Thanks for mentioning those who have passed. They deserve our respect and to be remembered. RIP 🙏
After all these years, it still gives me goosebumps! 🥺
The 1st American Dream Team, true musical legends !
Bruce Springsteen kills it in this song. What a voice
...and Stevie!!
For me, it was Bruce and Ray Charles. Those two... man. They really added a lot to the song. Another highlight was Cindi Lauper cause when she comes in, it was really good.
For sure, especially his first big belt that comes in. Cyndi didn't F around either with her part, she SMASHED as well.
@@stanleymyrick4068 Cindi certainly change the dynamics of the song, as she comes in - so cool! Ray Charles I love as well.
@@rickwelch8464 Cindi is a refreashing part of this song, going for it!! Lifting the song, even further... Love it!
Yes that was Dan Aykroyd from Ghost Busters in the glasses there. Lol!
Could also be representing The Blues Brothers...
That’s clearly Elwood Blues disguised as Ray Stantz.
No egos? That room is bursting at the seams with egos!
@@JeffCreates - Yes and they all put them aside to make a great song. This was in the documentary.
The fact that she didn't pause once, shows that she really enjoyed it :( You're so amazing, Aileen!
Stevie, Ray and Bruce should’ve made an album.
Those voices together 🤌
One of the things I really loved about this, is that each of the soloists were able to bring their signature style, and still have them all fit together so beautifully.
The biggest surprise for me in this video was Cyndi Lauper! I love 💕 her but she really came to this with her best. Just unbelievable!
I graduated high school in the mid 80s. This song was played SO SO SO much that I burned out bad on it for a decade. Looking back though it was an exceptional collaboration and the musicality of these icons is beyond impressive. This track/video is definitely a must watch for anyone who thinks they appreciate music.
The good old days….
This is why the 80s are the best. Thank you for showing your true compassion as you understand what’s the truth can be through music
I remember when this happened! Such a great experience! Thanks Aileen ❤️💛

Aileen, your a CHAMP for reacting to this, and making it all the way through without crying.
40 years later it's still garbage. That's why no one plays it.
@@GodLovesComicsI don’t fault them for coming together and trying to raise money but I agree, the song is absolutely terrible
Back when singers were truly artists.
Ultimate music knowledge test - being able to list the musicians in this video as they appear. It's not an easy task! 😅
EDIT: I was born in '97, so a good majority of these voices are familiar, but there are a few that still confuse me. 😊
I felt it was pretty easy, I'm from Gen X all of them were top stars in their genres.
I can literally name each one with my eyes closed and ears open
Test 2: how many songs did they all composed together?
@@Gr8Buccaneer oh lordy, now there's the real challenge ☠️

This song was recorded in one night. They did it after an awards show cuz it was the only time they could get that many people in the area at once. They broughr back Ray Charles, James Ingram, and stevie Wonder to finish putting it together. The one person who.doesnt get enough credit was the conductor Quincy Jones.
Subscribed.
They really did make an impact they raised over 63 Million for those starving.
Always a classic and always hits hard. Rip to all the legends in here that are no longer with us. Quincy was a genius for putting Stevie and Bruce together for that duet part.
this charity, skill and passion showcases some of the best in humanity
This recording/ video was recorded one night after an award show and everyone of these huge stars left their egos at the door to try and help people they didn’t know . This song was written by Lionel Richey and Michael Jackson .
greatest collab ever. I was a teenager when this came out..still makes me tear up. UK did a similar thing. Canada too. Search for them and watch!
As a teenager through the 80s, I dare to say that rivaled any mass of talent in any one recording room, EVER! GOD bless them, their efforts, their cause and their contribution to music history! Wow!
It is a golden generation that cannot be replaced.
Child of the eighties here, there was no better decade for music, film and overall vibe for living🎉😅
There is a great documentary on Netflix about the making of this production
Such a powerful song of unity that this vibe needs to be felt by so many more of us all today, especially here in the US.
As they said..the 80s and 90s are like a dream..faded so quickly. I knew those days were special.
It was recorded in 1985. Your reaction to this masterpiece is the best reaction I've ever seen about the song. And your commentaries also very good. 🙂👍🏻

1985
it was recorded in 1985 and I believe early 1985 cause I remember hearing it for the first time on the radio when I was living Florida at the time and the radio stations were constantly playing this song.
The absolute respect and reverence you have for the music of the past is amazing. Keep going.
This was put out on January 28, 1985. I just turned 17 years old about a month earlier on Christmas Eve.
Imagine singers doing that today...it would never happen. And all those people in the video are legends in their genres. They all left their egos at the door of the studio.😊
Now imagine knowing all these artists. It was even more epic back then.
This is what the '80s was all about & I'm so glad I lived in it. Your reaction was absolutely wonderful & you have such a deep soul xoxo
There's a reason that Stevie got the biggest part. A star amongst stars!
The Bruce and Stevie duet is one of my favorite moments in music history.
the recent documentary about this is worth watching !
Next reaction *Do they know its christmas time* ❤
Hoy esta canción suena a hipocresía.
If you're a music enthusiast, you can find the making of this video on CZcams. Rare look of how these legends prepare for a song,
