- 三民主義, the anthem of the Republic of China, was created based on Dr. Sun-Yat-Sen speech at the opening ceremony of the Whampoa Military Academy in 1924 and thus was adopted as the lyrics after the successful Northern Expedition by the Nationalist Government and the music, composed by Chen Maoyun in 1928. The anthem was then adopted in 1930 and was officially approved in 1937 by the Central Standing Committee.
After the Nationalist lost the civil war to the Communist in 1949, the anthem was then replaced to 义勇军进行曲 (March of the Volunteers) by the Communist in the Mainland, however, the anthem of 三民主義 is still used in Taiwan today even after the Nationalist Government retreated to the Island in 1949.

@@chocolatelove2464 my great grandfather was a Cantonese revolutionary in the xinhai revolution. He originally owned a nanjing road manor. The communists took away that, and burnt his diary. So little is known about him, but today Chinese websites have him. His alternative name was called 张威廉. I believe the communists are beginning to change, unlike the past. But I still wish for china to be called the republic of China. And under the republic I would be living in that original manor, which my ancestors have lived in. What I am worried about if the republic taking over mainland is that it becomes an ally of America. And becomes enslaved like Europe. Sun yat sen never would want that.

Don't forget the Republic of China (Taiwan) greatly helped to found the Republic of Korea (South Korea) and helped a lot in using spare soldiers and equipment to save Korea from communism/juche! Chiang kai shek and Syngman Rhee were also good friends.

The Chinese didn’t want to become a cute asian puppet state for the Americans like Korea, Japan, and the Philippines. If the Americans intervened in the civil war and successfully beat out the CCP, then the ROC would’ve became a US puppet state, but that never happened and was impossible to happen with the way the Nationalist army performed against the communists.
Look at Taiwan now - even a small place like this, after a few decades, the young people are pro-Japan and pro-America to the extent that they thought they are not Chinese. If the Guomin Party had won the civil war and were in charge of China, now China would either split into at many small countries (like the USSR, Yugoslavia) or became a puppet or ‘subordinate’ of USA (like the present Japan) because the Guomin Party is not as ‘iron rod’ as the Communist Party.

I think you got mistaken, I didn't regard the ROC as 'Taiwan', I only said the Nationalist still uses the anthem after they retreat to the island in 1949 after they lost mainland China.

It's the national anthem of the RoC who ruled over mainland China, defeated the japanese with the help of the allies and then escaped to Taiwan when Mao won the civil war against them, so it has a lot to do with taiwan lol??

@@apoiujdba0-9u The flag in the video is actually the "Five Races under One Union" flag. First used in 1912 after the fall of the Qing Dynasty.
@@MVs1940 yes that one was real all the kuomintang ones were real and the tongmenghui(wuchan rebellion) one was widely used but they used the modern italian german flags when they were on the ship scene and you could see the flags which breaks the immersion
