The lock seems pretty to me for the price range that they probably intended for it. LPL also deduced the main purpose of the lock to be for low security outdoor purposes. If it had a hardened shackle it would be better but also reduce its weather resistance and take it out of its intended price range.

It isn't one of those huge hefty locks that try to be indestructible, it isn't one of those $2 locks that lie about their quality, it's just a plain and simple low security padlock, perfect for a wide variety of uses in which you aren't securing something dangerous or overly expensive.

Finally, a lock build to be more secure than it needs to be. It is more than adequate to keep kids or teenagers away from the chemicals, power tools and sharp objects in a shed or cabinet.
I'd even go so far as to say it would be a perfect core for a gun lock as well, so long as the chamber obstruction element was competently designed.
