  • Plumbing up the undergravel suction grid and installing the rest of the filtration for the greenhouse pond. Let me know in the comments if you have questions on any specific components!

    Very nice build and clever filtration. It's going to be costly maintaining it but interesting. Thanks for the content

    Very cool find. I'm having a 3/4 acre clay bottom dug that will have a suction grid. I'll have four zones feeding into two traps topped with big style filters. I'm using four 4"x4ft airlifts powered by a 200 Jebao. I'm hoping to add another separate big down the road. You should have set up a chambered biological system. It would work with the suction grid using airlifts but cost a fraction to run. Modern magnetic drives are blown away by airlift as long as there's no required head. Just moving water they're 8 times as efficient meaning pennies in your pocket. Something tells me by the expense in details you won't go hungry though 😆

    Can you tell me the kind of filter system and pump you used? Very interesting take on the suction grid theme.

    Are the suction pipes sitting on the ground? We use this style of filtration at work and ours are slightly elevated off the ground. If they are off the ground you will need to put in supports on the pipes. As you put gravel in it will cause the pipes to bend or flex over time and will impact the efficiency. Just a suggestion and keep up the good work.

      Yes they’re sitting in the ground. Really they’re like 1/4” off the ground or so because the thickness of the fittings. But it’s designed to sit on the bottom

    Did you think about making a box or something around the pump? I reckon a pump of that size will be really loud. And maybe you could place nuzzle on the surface level at the far end of the pond to get some surface flow towards the skimmer.

      Yes I will be building a box around the pump. But this pump is actually almost silent, you can barely hear it at all believe it or not. And the mazzei style return jets can be pointed in any direction, they will all be pointed at the surface pushing towards the skimmer.

    Excellent video mate. Would this under gravel suction grid work gravity fed from 2" then straight into 4" in to my Nexus 320. Or does it need be pump drawn from the grid. Enjoying the whole build 👌👍

      I’m not 100% sure to be honest. I’d be nervous only gravity feeding it though, I feel like it would definitely work better with more flow. But I really don’t know

      @@ALifeExotic thanks for the reply mate. I managed get some good information on it from a top koi dealer. Definitely pump drawn not gravity lol. Thanks again 👍 excellent channel

    obviously I mean the filter system behind the water. It is not sand or is it?

    • @ALifeExotic
      @ALifeExotic  Před 8 měsíci

      The filter is a evolution aqua k+ pressure filter. It uses k+ media, not sand

    What is the little tool you used to clean out the drill holes ? Nice set up!

    • @ALifeExotic
      @ALifeExotic  Před rokem

      It’s called a pipe reamer. It’s normally used for copper water pipes

    I hate to tell you this be really it's a waste having that bead filter there as the gravel is going to catch most of the solids before it gets to the bead and clog would have been much better having the water go straight to the bead first which you can flush and then pump the the clean water up through the gravel keeping all the solids in suspension keeping your gravel clean avoiding it clogging or collecting waste

      I wish! I think it’s still a bit small for an arapaima. Although I would absolutely love to keep one someday
