    Spedtacular cobber! I'm Spedding through the different positions! Trying to learn to move between the major and minor of a given key! You are better than a poke in the eye with a burnt stick! I got an off the wall request, for a Free song, Easy on my Soul off the Heartbreaker Album. But any Free songs are bloody awesome, maybe The Hunter? Anyway, hope you are healthy, happy and sounding better than a DB6 in full flight!

    Thanks for yet another great lesson, very informative. I have watched many pentatonic scale videos and none have explained these position shifts as concisely as you have, now I can study your video and hopefully really learn, memorize all these positions.

    I’ve been playing for over 25 years, I’ve always played rhythm in our band. Recently, our lead guitarist had quit due to health reasons and I had moved into the lead position. You have no idea how much this has helped my playing and understanding of what’s going on behind the notes. Thanks Sped!

    Excellent lessons Sped-I subscribed a couple weeks ago. Your Led Zeppelin lessons are great. Did you ever think of doing any Van Halen? I mostly an at home player-do you think it is important to learn all the modes up and down (already know them)or can I get by with just the pentatonic and blues. Seems like most of what I listen to and like to play is Led Zeppelin and Van Halen.

    I am just a little bit past this in my guitar journey but I found this to be an excellent excellent lesson. Still very helpful to me. You approached it just slightly differently than most of the others and I think this will be a big "light bulb" moment for many young players.

    I have learnt the scale shapes but what determins there name ? If I move the shape down one free what would that scale then be called ? I'm loving your videos and I'm learning a lot can't wait to see more!

    • @SpedSpedding
      @SpedSpedding  Před 4 lety +1

      Say you moved everything down two frets and started position 1 from the 3rd fret of the low E. Everything would be in G Pentatonic Minor. All root notes and rules would remain the same. The actual notes themselves would change, but the patterns and concepts stay the same. It's important to learn your root notes.
      Start with the Low E, 3 5 7 - G A B, 8 10 12 - C D E
      By learning all the natural notes you learn all the flats and sharps as well. :) Hope this helps?

    Having a really hard time with this, seasoned piano player it’s not making sense to me????

    • @SpedSpedding
      @SpedSpedding  Před 2 lety

      What is it you don’t understand? If you’re seasoned piano player and you understand the pentatonic scale the confusion might be that we can ascend in two directions on the guitar. Across the strings and up the fretboard. We can play the exact same pitch of note in multiple places. For this reason we have to learn many different positions of the same scale as it’s not always the same shape.
