- The Bathurst 12 Hour, currently known as the Liqui Moly Bathurst 12 Hour, is an endurance race for GT and production cars held at the Mount Panorama Circuit, in Bathurst, Australia.
It is an annual race, taking place every February. The race was first held in 1991 for Series Production cars and moved to Sydney's Eastern Creek Raceway in 1995 before being discontinued. The race was revived in 2007, again for production cars, before adding a new class for GT3 and other GT cars in 2011. This has led to unprecedented domestic and international exposure for the event. In all, eighteen races have taken place; seventeen at Mount Panorama and one at Eastern Creek Raceway.

Pablo Hendriks i watched the first 3 hours then went to sleep and tuned in when i woke up to watch bentley take the trophy
I was thinking of doing the same but at 1 o clock (utc+1) I decided to move to my bed (massive headache). When I woke up they where giving out the trophies.

Mt. Panorama is just so brutal. Absolutely a world class track.
at 12:28 the gtr is the fourth car in line, and look at the size of it, it's massive.
Makes me laugh when the Bentley comes over the hill behind the Porsches and the Lambo a couple seconds later, the size difference is insane!

it is a hell of a track for it sometimes and lets face it the people who buy high end Pirellis don't care about race failures.
There was so much debris on the track from the wind courtesy of a dust storm and a thunderstorm.
@@carisi2k11 I agree with all replies, but I think durability of the tire is as important as performance as this race shown, car manufacturers invest a lot in balance between those, tire manufacturers do that too but all I'm saying is that there is still a room for improvement :)
@@artemZinn Did you see the size of some of the branches laying on the track. Even the dunlops on the v8supercars puncture during the 1000 and I really don't think it was a tyre issue as much as track conditions. These tyres were doing 2-3 stints during the heat of the day earlier.
Funny how things come back to you late in life. 45 or so years ago, I was into modifying my cars, I always looked after my brakes and tyres. I was looking at tyre alternatives for my 60's Chrysler Valiant and a motorsport friend of mine advised me against purchasing Pirelli tyres because they tend to blow out and puncture a lot under Australian conditions.
Here we are almost half a century later and Pirellis are crashing out at Bathurst.
Lifes like that.
Stayed up til 1-2 AM EST to watch this, sad that I missed Bentley taking it all home.

I think this year bathurst 12 hour was the best ever
Last year was better, 7 diff manufacturers fighting together in the top 7 and the Matt Campbell pass was brilliant. But this race is huge for Bentley.

Tire Failures: The Movie
That's what I thought, if you want to watch 30 mins of flat tires and people sitting in their cars in the pits its great, but it was as boring as F.
Bathurst has always been about tires and brakes,put a Holden out there with a good strategy and it will win.
That first lap has to be one of most beautiful sights I've seen!
These camera angles and amounts of them are insane! The US needs better coverage, holy cow!

I can only imagine how tricky this track is in real life, whenever I play at it in a racing game, I suck, one of the hardest for me.

TV does not show just how steep it really is, from Skyline down through the cutting is very steep, it's actually not easy to walk back up there.

I was a volunteer flag marshal at point 17, just before Forest Elbow, where Chaz Mostert had his crash in 2015.
On the Friday during the Combined Sedans practice/qualifying two cars collided and temporarily blocked the track. Thankfully all cars involved got away with minor damage and all cars drove away under their own power.
And during practice for the GTs car 76 did a complete 360 without hitting the wall or any cars!
Saturday was calm in our sector, but those enormous crashes on top of the Mountain shook me.
Sunday during the race, car 29 tagged the wall at turn 17 but got away damage free by the looks of it, and later two Aston Martins collided on approach to Forest Elbow, again only minor damage.

@@aeidolone Yes, they aren't allowed to do that once the Safety car doesn't have it's lights on anymore. That's why you see multiple cars warming up their tyres at the restart.
I thought he was warming the tyres as well but the commentator said he was trying to break the tow. 🤷🏼♂️

I thought the coverage of the race was some of the best that I have seen recently with very little over hype, but why on the scoring pylon do the show the driver abbreviation as the car designator and only flash the car numbers occasionally also the position numbers (the most prominent thing) are really not necessary. Not knowing all the drivers I would have liked the car numbers to be to have been more prominent.
The race is part-owned by Supercars Events and Supercars media are responsible for the broadcast. They are using pretty much the same graphics that they use for their Supercars coverage (aka V8 Supercars). In that series the names are more recognisable than the number to most viewers. I too would have liked them to have made some modifications to continuously display the car make and number for the 12 Hour.
We raced with Gounon on iracing @ Bathurst he was lightning quick.

Hello this is fantastic race drivers because how they feel while on driving everyone had a guts beautiful it is very tuff drivers I think and whose get first and whose get last I am not consider but I just think how they drive on night it is beautiful...
