I have the Seiko SBDX017 (MM300) and the Proxima. The Seiko is + 24 seconds per day and the Proxima is around +2 seconds. Seiko Hardlex crystal and painted bezel, Proxima Sapphire crystal and bezel insert. The hour hand on the Seiko is also misaligned, and the Proxima is perfect. Next to the Proxima, the Seiko is a rip off. I must be one of those weirdos you mentioned!

Good review! I had the San Martin MM300 and also Steel Dive MM300 homage...San Martin is way better in terms of QC , fit n finish , and also the bezel action. Perhaps you should get Strapcode bracelet meant for the actual MM 300 and see if it fits which homages. I tried it on the St Martin - fits like a glove...whereas on the Steel Dive...it cud not even slide into the lug space...
The case for the Heimdallr mm300 is also different. It's slimmer and less well finished, most noticeable on the side polished-brushed-polished bevel transition.

I would pay another $75 for the Proxima. Prefer the bezel action on the Steeldive. Misaligned bezels drive me mad, as do pressed clasps. I bought a clasp from Aliexpress to replace one on my Tissot. Even the Swiss cut corners sometimes. I have a cuckoo clock that is less than 17.5mm thick. I do disagree that Seiko are always better than the homages. My Heimdallr SKX is better than my Seiko SKX, in nearly every way, and cost a fraction of the price.

I've got some MAJOR issues with the pictures and descriptions with the way these watches are presented on the Chinese websites. I find the DGAF nature about these website infuriating. For example. You have a link to the Proxima watch below your video, but you are showing a Proxima watch with a blue bezel. I searched for the blue bezel on the product page but cannot find it. Am i missing something. I do not like the classic brown colored lume and colors ways on watches. The color option I see are the yuck brown/rose gold "throw back" bezel, Coke bezel, silver/white bezel. Again, am I missing something? The Steeldive website is even worse. The color options are: "No.1, No.2, No.3, No.4, No.5" but there is NO variation on the "color" just the same watch with different straps. I bought a Steeldive 62MAS last month and when it arrived the logo on the dial was missing and the case back was missing the logo. I was about to return it for a refund but notice in the invoice it said "no logo". This was not properly represented when I purchased the watch. I went off the pictures on the page and made my purchase based on them. I do not think I will purchase another watch from these Chinese DGAF websites. The watches are beautiful and you get a lot of bang-for-the-buck, but the risk of getting something different based off pictures and inaccurate descriptions on the website is unacceptable. Loool welcome to the world of Aliexpress and Chinese retailers. The blue sapphire bezel option is available when you search the plain black mm300 and select the bezel options (sapphire) I have the same struggle as you but now I'm used to it. The trick is to ask the seller questions if you're not sure, very simple really 👍🏼
I remember when the only 300mm hommage was merkur and for a tuna was yobokies now there is so many on ali baba ebay ect. The one they haven't done is the very early case which seiko have recently re released. These are of a same vein to rolex clones but the case in the mm300 is a design masterpiece.

The Watcher , surely all you need to do is hack the movement at 12am remove hands and dial from the front with the movement and crown staying in the case?
In theory, but when I opened the crystal out, the stem just snapped 😳 I didn't do anything to snap it. So I had to remove 2 plates on the back of the movement and the ratchet/rotor assembly to get the broken stem out looool

I just bought a new Proxima mm300. I’m very happy with the watch with the exception of the bezel action - it is very difficult to turn. Any suggestions on what I can do to make the bezel easier to turn?
Its a sapphire insert which is rounded. I thought it would be different but after owning this eatch for nearly a year I would have preferred the flat ceramic bezel
same factory in term of raw finished parts, just like what they told me. when the items arrived at their respective company they will do some more finer fnishing and QC. some has the extension to go for more detailed but most of the time they just assembled it after they got it straight from factory. that is what they tell me. if they tricked me then perhaps you on the right side.
I have san martin and it fell down on floor. One of the pin fell out. My watch one of the dial stop working. So If I had a seiko this wil never happened. So homage is OK but not like the original so give more than 100 euros for Chinese watch for me is not worth it. Save money and buy original seiko 🙄
i think it probably be the same with any watches but not g-shocks. it doesn't matter wether it cost $10 or $100k unless it is g-shocks. if you have the dough, then go for it but please don't put on high hopes it will not breaks. after all it is human made. just my 2 cents.

For MM300 homages, it has always been between the Proxima, Merkur, San Martin & Uroborus.

The mm300 is a beast watch. Both of these are dimensionally close. In terms of looks the proxima is maybe closer
These watches are a alternative if like me I will never have the real thing. So one of these would at least give me a slight feel of the real thing.
At ali express it show San Martin: 15mm and Proxima:15.8mm it is confusing
