    How to launch a Laser dinghy single handed......... ask your friend to return the dolly.
    He, he, he - that was funny.

      Yeah... It didn't address my primary question. Single handed launch... SINGLE handed.

    I don’t have any friends to take the trolley. That’s why I sail a singlehanded boat.

    • @sailaboattv
      @sailaboattv  Před rokem

      We suggest you never sail alone, and ask another sailor to help. It is possible to hold two single handers by one person to launch.

      Yes absolutely. The laser is an Olympic class so should be in the US

    What if you're sailing by yourself? Is there any way to launch the boat with no one around?

    • @sailaboattv
      @sailaboattv  Před 2 lety +1

      Well we never recommend sailing alone incase of difficulty or capsize. But without anyone to retrieve the trolley if the beach is Sandy then pull the boat onto the sand. If it is stoney be very careful as this can scratch.
      Quite often there is someone who could take your trolley without getting their feet wet, but avoid sailing totally alone.

  • @ignooooo128
    @ignooooo128 Před 3 lety

    Shouldnt you pull the rudder down fully first

    • @sailaboattv
      @sailaboattv  Před 3 lety

      depends how deep the water is. Often beaches slope gently so pulling the rudder down just hits the bottom. We say to sail away slowly and then pull the rudder fully down

    What if you don’t have a friend to put the trolley back up on the beach? Would you pull the boat back to shore just enough to beach it temporarily whilst you take the trolley up?

    • @sailaboattv
      @sailaboattv  Před 3 lety

      There lies the question. We suggest you never sail alone as someone to rescue in the absence of any power boat
      But if you are alone then yes, slide the boat gently on the sand…. But if it is pebbles this will damage the boat
      Happy sailing

      @@sailaboattv Thanks. I’m not allowed to sail alone at our club (two boat rule), but there would rarely be someone to recover a trolley.

      We use old tyres to put the bow of the boat onto, as we often launch solo on rough beaches.

      But how do you address the boat getting blown around?
