Well now you know! If you are just starting off with your Instant Pot, this is one of the easiest things you can make in your pot! Then just freeze whatever meat you don't use, and you are set!
The only thing is, I cooked meat that was frozen. That way it was able to stay on the trivet without falling through the cracks and no, I haven't cooked it with thawed meat yet!

HOW TO COOKE GROUND BEEF IN THE INSTANT POT:
    Ingredients:
    1 - 3 pounds of ground beef
    1 cup of water
Place your trivet in the Instant Pot. Pour in one cup of water. Place your frozen beef on top of the trivet. Put the lid on and turn the knob to sealing.
Push the Manual Button, or pressure cook button and set the time for 25 minutes.
Once the timer is done, let it release on it's own for 10-15 minutes. Turn the knob to let any more steam out.
Take your meat out of the Instant Pot and place in a bowl. Cut or chop the meat up.
You can freeze the meat in freezer bags for up to 3 months in your freezer.
This is the Taco Soup I made: www.sixsisters...
    - I just threw everything in the Instant pot and cooked it for 5 minutes on manual. I used my already browned beef and just cooked my onions with the rest of the soup instead of browning it.

Yes I couldn't find any recipes that Had fresh ground beef for the instant pot so I took a shot at it myself. We have a family of 7 and so we eat a lot of ground beef in a lot of different recipes so I bought a 10 pound roll Of ground beef cut it in half and cut that half into thirds I stood them up in the instant pot on top of the rack and added about a cup of water I cook them for 50 minutes 10 Minutes per pound and when it came out I just took it out and put it in a bowl and broke it up with a chopper once it cools I'll probly break it up more by hand we put it in the freezer and you can add it to spaghetti sauce or Raman noodles or put some on top of pizza it doesn't go very far in our family of 7 but when I used to do it from me and my husband it lasted quite a while in the Freezer.

This is my new favorite kitchen tool! Day 1 I was going to pressure cook a meat czcams.com/users/postUgkxG-7WiT7ocumjytOpHDFt632PL0pxXRAg and potato stew, decided I wouldn't eat it that night so I went with a slow cook so I could go to bed and put it away in the morning. I love that versatility! The sauté feature works great and adds tons of extra flavor to dishes, and I can easily sizzle meats in the bottom then deglaze for some restaurant worthy flavors.Big bonus - you can cook a whole frozen chicken in about 2 hours. Amazing! I've seen a couple videos, haven't tried it yet, but I will soon!

I just used this to brown hamburger for Friday night nachos for my family! I put the meat in my kitchenaid mixer and chopped it up, then added the seasoning and mixed that with the mixer. It was so easy! Whatever is left will go in the freezer, but I never know who my 16 year old grandson will bring along.

I've cooked frozen and unfrozen ground beef in the 3 qt. pot and it is inbelievable. Delicious. Not too dry and no grease. I cooked a 1 lb. frozen tube of ground beef from Walgreens in my 3 qt. pot. I gave it at least 40 mins. to cook. That worked well. Another time I just cooked it for 20 mins. and then mixed it in an inner pot with other ingredients for another 20 mins. and that was a tasty treat. (It takes longer to cook in the 3 qt. because it uses less pressure, but I can cook enough for 3 or more meals.)

Sounds delicious and being a carnivor eater I love ground beef. Try putting your cooked ground beef back in pot, add cooked bacon and onions, add a block of cream cheese. And sauté together. I usually don’t drain my hamburger grease as it mixes in well with the cream cheese.

@@wilmasebastian2225 I honestly have never done just one pound before so I don't know. I am sorry. I would assume that you could do it for less time since its less meat but I would be careful you don't want the center to not cook all the way throughout. However if it doesn't cook all the way through which I have had happen to me before when doing larger batches ive just finished the cooking process in a skillet or something its very easy and most of the time all the fat has already drained away from cooking in the IP so then all I have to do is finish with whatever im doing with the hamburger meat. Hope this was helpful and please let me know how it goes I hardly ever do small amounts so I am curious as to how it will work out.

@@Harley57 I've never cooked with sausage before but I would guess its the same as it is with hamburger meat. Normally I will just cook it the same way she does in the video and then portion it out via what I need it for. Say a pound or so for spaghetti or tacos and then what ever is left I will put in to a freezer safe bag and freeze until needed. Once I need it I will pull it from my freezer the night before and let it thaw in my fridge then yes I will heat it up either by warming it up in a frying pan or in a microwave safe bowl for a few minutes at a time stirring it until its warmed completely through. I hope this answers your question and helps you in some way.

A good dish to make with ground beef is beef Rice-A-Roni and it is simple and I make it often for myself. You can make Chicken Rice-A-Roni also or you can make it with Turkey. You just follow the instructions on the Rice-A-Roni box and you can cook it in about 30 minutes.
Another use for ground beef is stews, soup, and beef and rice dishes, but you probably know about them.

I have a pound leftover from a hamburger roll, it was still frozen so I microwave thawed for just under 5 minutes. Most of it broke up putting in the instant pot and breaking up with a spatula. I had been sauteing some onions while meat was defrosting in microwave. I sauteed for a couple minutes then put it on pressure cook for 10 minutes, I am doing the natural release for just a bit more cooking time. I added all the ingredients you would do with a roast.
Meat was cooked, potatoes and carrots too. I didn't think of throwing in a can of peas and corn till after it was done. It still tasted great. :)

Great tip! I use ground beef all the time for chili and spaghetti so this would be real useful.
How would the settings change if you wanted to cook different amounts? I have several 1 pound packages of ground beef in the freezer. Would just doing 1 pound make the times different?
Also, can you cook it to different levels of doneness? A lot of times, I only want to half-cook it and let it finish cooking once I add all the other ingredients. I don't know if it matters much for ground beef though.
    Thanks again.

Too cool! Bet you could break it up with a stand mixer pretty quickly. I use mine for shredding chicken and roast pork and beef. For thawed you could put it in a steamer basket or small stainless steel colander. Or a disposable foil round cake pan with holes punched in the bottom.

    • @AlanThompsonRegularNintendo
      @AlanThompsonRegularNintendo Před 3 lety

@@SophieMia806 yes I place a colander in a bowl and pour the grease into that. The colander will separate the grease from the meat, then I pour the meat back into the instapot to finish it off by browning it a touch more and adding my seasoning for whatever I am cooking(taco seasoning, vegetables or whatever) hope that helps 🙂

    1. What if I don't have the metal thing you put on the bottom?
    2. Did you put the pot in slow cook mode or in high temperature?
    3. I would put in on the pan afterwards and add onions, tomato sauce, garlic etc

a trivet should've come with your Instant Pot. I have 2 (Lux & Duo +) and both came with one. It may not look like the one in the video, but you should have a trivet of some kind. Contact the company if you did not get one.
