    Love the texture of restaurant/fast food taco meat? Don't go out! Stay in and make this easy Instant Pot taco meat instead. All you need is: An Instant Pot, ground beef (fresh or frozen) broth and taco seasoning. You can add what you want to it. Sometimes I add onions or chipotle salsa. Sometimes I use ground chicken or turkey. It's all about you - you do you - but whatever you do, I know your'e gonna love it.
    All you do is pour some broth in your pot, toss in the meat and pressure. Break it up, add the taco seasoning and whatever else you're adding and pressure. When it's done, simmer it for about 5 minutes or until you like the consistency.

    My late wife had two Insta-pots, they haven’t ever been taken out of cabinet since she died over a year and a half ago. I’ve never used them. I was thinking of selling or donating them. But Tacos, well that might be a good reason to hang on to one of them. Thanks for showing off this technique.

    Great advice, got home late from work. Had some 70-30 Ground Beef I bought yesterday portioned up in the freezer. 70-30 is far better for burgers on the grill. I took different measures, like draing the fat, but holding some back and adding 2 Better Than Boullion flavors, beef and chipotle on the 2nd pressure cook. Damn, that came out really good.

    Great video Jax! That's a pretty good idea. I've been makin street tacos for a couple years now and haven't used ground beef since but I bet this would work really good with sliced up skirt or flank steak too. I'm gonna give it a try. Have a great Easter brother.

    I love using this general method with chicken thighs in the instant pot for tacos/fajitas. This method also works great with other seasoning combos to make currys or seseme/orange chicken. The extra fat in chicken thighs makes them perfect for the pressure cooker

    We have one of those "meat breaker upper" too and it's pretty killer. Chipotle peppers in a can also work well, plenty of sauce + you can slice up the peppers.

      I've never tried using the canned chipotles in this recipe before but I'm sure it would be just as good and maybe a little smokier as well.

      @@JaxxDrinkwater I used the store bought packages which contain corn starch. The second round of pressure went into burn mode. The meat survived and was perfectly fine, but I would say skip step 3 in this case.

    • @JaxxDrinkwater
      @JaxxDrinkwater  Před 2 lety

      @@bigw1552 Interesting! I use 2 packages of store bought all the time and that's never happened to me. I use Old El Pas brand hot and spicy and it has cornstarch as well. Are you sure that you got all the bits and bobs from the bottom? When you say step 3, you talking about burning off the liquid, yes?

    • @bigw1552
      @bigw1552 Před 2 lety

      @@JaxxDrinkwater I felt everything was good to go after using the meat masher. After adding the packs it looked the right consistency, not as watery as yours. That's where I should have stopped, so maybe part 2 and 3 in my case. Turned out delicious BTW, thanks!

      @JaxxDrinkwater  Před 2 lety +1

      @@bigw1552 Dang! I'm not sure what happened then. I will say this though if you skip the 2nd pressure you will be sacrificing that wonderful texture at the end. I'm glad you enjoyed the flavor and I hope you try it again.. You could always trying adding more liquid.

    Hey Jaxx! The end of your video sold me on the technique! At first, I wondered why you wouldn't brown the meat. I understood about the pressure cooking infusing the flavor, but browning the meat helps with that, too. At the end of the video when you said that the end result is restaurant quality, it clicked. Years ago, my son used to work at Taco Bell and I loved their beef soft tacos. The texture of your end product looked exactly like the texture of the beef in those beef soft tacos that I loved! 😊😋😋

      @JaxxDrinkwater  Před 2 lety +1

      Heck yea Colleen , it's definitely a great texture in my opinion. I say give it a go and see what you think of it. I think you will like it. it's pretty much me and the Mrs. only way we cook taco meat now days.

    I don't wanna be that guy, but I'm surprised you didn't drain all that grease from the meat when it was done cooking then add all of your ingredients. Just my humble opinion. BTW, I enjoy your channel.

    20 mins seem tooo high…did I listen right?

    • @JaxxDrinkwater
      @JaxxDrinkwater  Před rokem

      20 minutes it is. Too high for...? With pressure cookers, the longer you cook meat, the softer, more tender it gets. It can't dry out - it's full of steam and liquid. If you feel more comfortable, begin at 5 minutes, see how you like it and add 5 more if you want to go longer. It'll take forever and you'll have to cool your ring in between cycles, but if you feel like 20 minutes is not gonna work, do what works for you.

      @@JaxxDrinkwaterDid you actually cook it 40 minutes total, 20 in the beginning then 20 more at the end or am I missing something? Just wanted to make sure, I will be trying this recipe soon and I don't want to burn my first attempt 😅
