"I didnt consider the 4D chess maneuver they would try".
I literally can't stop laughing
11:30 It's so sad watching him beg for a bridge when he already is using two of them for the purples. I wonder when he'll notice!
20:13 woo!
LOL editing it was tough too, realizing that it had been there for like... 15 minutes, and I just noticed it haha.
Refeshing honesty. "I keep pausing, because i am scared not because i have a solution."
No point in hiding what is blatantly obvious LOL It does give more time to think, which has saved me many times before.
your videos are honestly so entertaining... i don't see myself watching alot of 30-40+ minute videos on youtube but i'm always watching these all the way through :)
Wow, thank you! Protip: I watch a lot of longform content on 2x speed, it's a little harder to keep up with, but then it's only 10-20 minutes, which is WAAAY more digestible. Give it a shot!
@@Retroflux nah you're not boring me at 1x speed so i can spare the time ._.
I like the thought that 5 remote houses are worth 3 local ones. I'm going to start thinking that way. That commute can be a killer.
Yep! Distance is a double killer, because it takes time to go there AND go back, people forget about that second part. You can't get another trip if all of your cars are returning, so I try to keep that in mind when I'm counting my cars. :)
One thing i learn is never trust the traffic lights
I’ve been watching a lot of your vids. Bought the game a week ago. Scored a top 1% on a weekly challenge. Ended up going back and getting a top 10 in the world score. Thanks to your vids
great gameplay! this game is helping me cope with mi depression (kinda makes me anxious tho but it’s worth it) and your videos made me improve so much :) hope u go infinite soon
Glad to hear it, and good luck! Depression is an endless battle for many, but I always take refuge in remembering that tomorrow is never the same as today. :) Sending peace and love your way!
@@Retroflux tysm man, means a lot
really enjoyed watching your video lol
Interesting, good city! I enjoyed that challenge too.
Traffic lights can help to:
1 - keep main road traffic fast, where quiet side road joins. There were spots with 1 or 2 house routes joining busier ones and the junction slow down reduced the benefit of extra cars, which can back up traffic on the main route.
2 - Mixed roads & blocks of housing, lights bunching cars create gaps, which allows opportunities to turn across incoming traffic, improving flow as the turning cars don't back up cars behind it while a stream of spread out cars keeps them waiting.
Where I do use lights, often I need to put them on several junctions in the area to switch to managed flows.
That said, I rarely choose them until late game, the benefit is subtle, they just help avoid areas clogging up or slight delays on journeys.
When there's a challenge forcing you to have them experiment earlier, as they could have helped in a few places in this city, though they probably would have lowered stress rather than increased final score.
Are roundabouts with a tangent touching them not slower than splitting up the tangent into two arms?
The last zoom in make me freaking out
Just wait till I start using the slow zooms to play with your emotions muahahahaha
I hope one day I get to see you go infinite! Would love to see you get a 10k+ score :)
I hope so too! I'm almost 100% certain that this one would have done that without that road tile. I'm very salty about it lol
I think it might be easy to underestimate the value of sending the right color to the right side for the dual-business plots. That parking lot traffic jam costs a lot of time.
That's what I keep telling people, I'm almost certain that it fills on their side, but I've never had time to actually watch because... Well, it gets hectic!
man that was a really good run to
There's always another run to try and do better... Though after that ending I'll admit I'm rather deflated lol. Maybe next week I'll try again
I belive in you man
I think the traffic lights are useless at merging 2 roads, but they work good if crossing 2 roads. like if blue and yellow want to cross for example. but not merging 2 blue roads into a single one, a roundabout is needed there.
Thinking the blue and red island could have used the motorway, just to unblock the traffic jam at the red building.
that's why we should put our 3rd eye on the connections of the roads
Usually I'm so careful! But like I said, that was some 4-D chess kind of messed up 😭 Still, I got my revenge on Rio, so I'm happy!
I know this is an old one but I really hope you stop putting intersections at the entrance to destinations. Another thing I noticed was when you have two sources of houses going to a destination put their intersection far enough away from the destination that the cars can speed up all the way, put a traffic light there to control the flow of cars in and out of the destination. I think intersections could be key to going infinite. There has to be a way to control the congestion
That ending was pain lol
I still remember this run, the end is seared into my mind
are the spawns of colors based on maps because i did this map and the colors of my houses and buildings were very simaller
Yes, the devs have noted that there's zoning rules built into the maps, so you'll get random, but estimable housing groups! You'll hear it a lot in my mega attempt episodes where I push for high scores, I'll say things like "green will spawn here" or "red will spawn next". There's lot of variability still, but it can be estimated!
Why were u not using signals, for the yellow imax in the middle
This was pre-patch, signals were extremely bad back then, mostly because the alternative (slipways) were still coded to move at full speed instead of coming to a stop and yielding to oncoming traffic.
Hey! the weekly challenge changed for me today? It was one of everything yesterday but today its unlimited bridges. Any idea why
I'd ping Dino Polo Club on Twitter, they might have even posted something about it. Maybe something messed up and I'm permanently in the top 20 for the imaginary weekly challenge?!?! Edit: They posted a patch yesterday, so that might have reset it.
Do you enjoy a lot of strategy games? Or is this the only one that you play often
As a child, I probably played Stronghold Crusader religiously (pun intended) for four hours a day for several months, I love strategy games! It's tough finding that happy medium for CZcams though, especially if I want to keep it under 30 minutes per video.
Fucking epic!!
Nice run
This run haunts my dreams.
One road tile, ONE, I must redeem myself eventually
someone is going to figure out how to use traffic lights effectively. there is a logic to it, like the crazy Redstone stuff in Minecraft. it looked like it was prioritizing the greater number of cars. so having a turn in front of a business with limited capacity is a terrible place. ( or where people leaving can actually bock opposing traffic trying to get in) if you had a long driveway into the business before the light. it might've worked as intended, but no one could move on the green light. locking down the intersection until there was room. that's just an observation. a general priority is to have as little intersections near business as possible (i.e. long drive ways to businesses & using cul-de-sacs to funnel people onto the main roads.) there's no stop signs to mark who has the right of way. it would be cool if you could lock stop lights and make some people wait until there's an opening to keep traffic flowing on a main road without having it all slow down for 2 cars. the cars logic prioritizes merging people in instead of maintaining the flow of traffic. again, as far as I can tell with my observations.
also in the top right corner. You could've moved the bridge under the store to make it merge with a roundabout or T-intersection well before the entrance of the store.
11 mins in im screaming at you for the unnecessary double purple bridge on the right as your saying you need bridges…
I need a bigger mouse pointer. Thanks.
Mouse pointers on the next daily will be increased to size 3 from size 1 in my original footage, and size 2 in this video :) I might actually bump it up to size 5 to compensate for the 1440p screen size that I play on, but it looks ridiculous after a certain size haha
Edit: I will note that some games (especially alpha games) don't allow for pointer resizing, so I'd either have to downscale the resolution or just play them with a tiny mouse in those cases)
Edit 2: OBS HAS BEEN SHRINKING MY POINTER THIS ENTIRE TIME AHHHHHHHHHHHHH I feel so betrayed
are traffic lights in this game that bad ? No one uses them.
Traffic lights are as bad in this game as they are in real life.
That is to say, they suck, like a lot lol.
Observe the truly magnificent alternatives to traffic lights: czcams.com/video/yITr127KZtQ/video.html
No, they can have benefits in certain situations. But they mitigate not having private colour roads with a block of houses serving a dest, rather than be an obvious benefit.
I wrote a comment explaining how I find them useful, in this game some quiet 1 or 2 house roads joined busy roads slowing traffic. Lights allow full speed on green and right turners often don't have to wait either.
@@Retroflux but you don't have enough space to put all that fancy stuff.
I want to see two people work together on a map.
I see you like watching the world burn 😂
23:52 Is that what she said?
"So close to fitting everything in- EVERYTHING'S ANGRY". Yeah sounds like something she would say
