Try to make the houses not directly connect to main roads, cars slow down when they’re next to a driveway of a house. I usually try to join driveways together and then connect to main roads like branches

you get less traffic with diagonal roads, on corner roads the cars slow down to turn

One big thing, depending on distance it's roughly 1-2 houses for a square, 3-4 for a circle
