This super light guitar weighs just 6.70 lbs. and has a nice, fat nut width of 1 11/16 inches and a standard Gibson scale length of 24 3/4 inches. Solid mahogany body with rounded edges, one-piece mahogany neck with that great '59 "baseball bat" style profile, and Brazilian rosewood fretboard with 22 original jumbo frets and inlaid pearl dot position markers. Headstock with "Gibson" logo and "Les Paul / Model" silk-screened in gold. Black plastic bell-shaped truss-rod cover with two screws. Closed-back single-line Kluson Deluxe strip tuners with white plastic oval buttons. Serial number "921668" inked-on in black on the back of the headstock. One super hot black P-90 pickup with a huge output of 8.28k. Black plastic pickup cover stamped on the underside "UC - 450 - 1 / 2". Single-ply black plastic (0.12 inches thick) pickguard with four screws. Two controls (one volume, one tone) on the lower treble bout. Black plastic bell-shaped "Bell" knobs. The potentiometers are stamped "134 914" (Centralab April 1959) and the capacitor is the requisite 'Bumble-Bee' type. Combination "wrap-over" bar bridge/stud tailpiece. There is absolutely no belt buckle wear on the back of the guitar - just some fine finish checking and a small surface 'ding' (slightly larger than a match-head in the center of the back. There are three very small surface chips on the lower edge of the body near the jack input. The top of the body also has some very fine finish checking. Otherwise this incredible fifty-one year old 'under-the-bed' guitar is in totally mint as new condition. The original frets show just a miniscule amount of playing wear, the fretboard shows no wear. The rich cherry finish has not faded in the slightest and there are absolutely no surface marks on the back of neck or on the headstock. This is quite simply the finest example of a '59 TV Junior (with a neck to die for) that we have ever seen and therefore our rating of near mint (9.25) condition is fairly conservative. We calculate the month of production to be August 1959 - as from the Gibson records we know that serial #922544 was shipped on 1st September, 1959. The sound of this little beastie is also quite simply "the bestest"! Housed in the original Gibson brown 'Alligator' softshell case with brown felt lining (9.25). Included in the case is the original receipt from October 23rd, 1959 (a huge $133.50 including the case) and also the original stop-tail/bridge allan key adjuster for the intonation - in its original tan envelope. This little guitar truly is "Back to the Future". - Hudba
I know this is a new comment on an old video, but the energy of Phil X is unmatched!
Funny how this was a beginner guitar and now it's a fucking classic
Whenever I feel down I just watch Phil X!
What an honor and privilege that Phil X deserved playing for the biggest band of the 80’s and possibly all time BON JOVI My favorite band from back in my days and I believe deep down if Richie chose not be a part of the band Phil was the guy without a doubt to take Richie’s place. A true musician and entertainer.
Phil-X quotes for $1000
"It adapts to velocity."
Me: What is "dynamic."
Johnny Gilbert: That's correct.
Man I love this man !! Always happy and enthusiastic
Junior's and Phil X always make me smile.....having great fun not a burnout!!
I was learning Carry On My Wayward Son today!!
might go and learn Message In A Bottle too after seeing this!
its starting to look like the guitar hero 2 setlist :P
If nothing else love the energy and the Neil Young. Great video.
7:00 new song by phil x ,"tune that thing"!
that finish hasn't faded at all. what a great condition.
Thx again Phil for sharing the magic of a P-90-loaded guitar. Always enjoying turning-up-and-gets-fat & turning-it-down-and-it-gets-all-sweet examples =)
PhilX...you are AMAZING...FUNNY...and VERY talented!
That guitar sounds soossooo good! What a great tone!
Always love your videos. Very clean Junior!
phil x is. amazing
This and the Jimmy page les Paul are my favorites by far!
Thank you. I'll keep that in mind.
The best demo i've seen in a while....Rock on!!!
@MrFenderbender97 He doesn't have to pretend to. He has seen a million faces and rocked them all.
Holy Cow.... That guitar is a beauty! I think Doc may have brought that one back in his Delorean.
Phil X i see every guitar review and you're just fantastic!!!!
9:56 greetings from Colombia you awesome and funky guitarist XD
LP Junior for the win - epic P90 Sound!!
wow that lpjr looks brand new!
Dynamic.
I'm late asf but touch sensitive Phil!! Sick lp
4:56 I felt the same thing man. And I smiled hard when you said it. YEAHH!!!
ROCK ON PHIL!!!
I think DYNAMIC was the word Phil was looking for... Maybe. ha!
I think Phil X should become a Saint, officialy celebrated every friday
It adapts to velocity..........
AWESOME!
AWESOME Phil! My dream is to meet you!
Thanks x i have a 59 l p jr myself wish i could do it like you 😉
That guitar is an utter monster. Always wanted to get around to building or buying a Les Paul Jr. like that....single or double cut, doesn't matter...I gotta get as close as I can to that pickup...
some one needs to make a phil x sound board of his quotes
probably the best p90 i've ever heard.
3:30 They had to turn the volume down to avoid blowing out our speakers with all that rock.
i like this guy
@RobLow18Car it is an English, I thought we had done that one... i have to look... if not, We WILL!!
also the Duo Sonic is coming...
@Pirolidin yes, nothing compares to a vintage Les Paul
god i love les paul jrs
PHILX!!!!!!!!!!!!! your so awesome. i watch your videos all the time and am a long time viewer. your my idol and when i think of what i want to someday be with my guitar i think of you buddypal
X-Man, that is one badass guitar.
2:02
I think the word you were looking for was “responsive”
The Drills n Juniors is the BEST combo EVARR
Thank you!
@frettedamericana Hey, I don't recall seeing that one in any of your videos.. I've watched all the FA vids numerous times so i'm an expert Haha! Although i'm personally not crazy about the whole requesting guitars to be played. After all 99% of the entertainment in these vids is what Phil says and does with his hands. He could play the cheapest guitar out there and still make it amazing! Thanks again for all the new videos man.
Rob
that flame maple les paul looks pretty cool. and its been there a long time, be cool to see it.
I want it !! You guys should get a phil x app on the go, it would be awesome !!!!
As I said to a salesman in Guitar Center this weekend (and he agreed), there should be more guitars with P-90s. Especially now that there are some hum canceling versions available. Cinnamon Girl: I may have finally found a song I can play better than Phil can. Until Phil decides to play it often enough to remember the words. then he is sure to blow me away.
11 years later and we still lack the appropriate amount of P90 guitars in this world. You also can’t get a new LP JR for less than $3k 🙄 they at least have SG jrs for $1400 which isn’t too bad for a brand new Gibson. I got one and it’s absolutely amazing, well worth the price.
thank you soo much!
Phil, i would love to know when you come to Spain to play on a tour or something
This guitar is absolutely very
Thats gotta be one huge ass bed to fit all of these awesome guitars under!!
A Phil X Friday makes every Friday a Good Friday.
"...Ahh...Again...That's not the coCAINA!!" :D
Spanish - no end to the talent ;)
very cool tuning down to drop D by ear...I remember seeing Neil do that on stage, but he had to look over to Crosby and Nash for the thumbs up when he had it
I WANNA LIVE IN THIS ROOM!!!!!!
@mcbr3b You can get it on iTunes. I don't think you can get a physical copy as of yet.
Phil hits dingers!!
that crunchy BLAMPH with the harder picking at 2:40 almost made me think of Perfect Timing by Van Halen
@anubisfirst No problem, you're welcome. But it surprised me, it's pretty hard to forgot the name of this song. :p
@zapwatt How is that related? Sure we miss Brad, but he was the lead singer for Boston...
@KwlNerd Thanks man
@plattdesignyachts It was enough to blow that Vox AC 30 into distortion. I have heard that the ohm rating is not the only measure of how powerful a pickup is. It might also have a big magnet in it. It sounded damn good.
1:51 DYNAMIC!!!! I know I am 5 years late.
it's all good
@RobLow18Car Oh yeah you're right, Thanks :D
do you guys have a video for that 2 pickup strat behind phil? Looks interesting
@MID3TTRIPOD3 The Neck is bigger, and the P90 has 'dog ear' style P90's whereas the specials has soapbars.
@MrMutron
You can't. The closest thing available is actually the Evil Robot that Fretted Americana sells. Though I think it's a little on the pricey side, if I remember correctly, but not anywhere near a top of the line guitar.
Thanks :D
What is that little sunburst guitar with the vibrato in the back between the Pelham blue SG and white strat?
I'm waiting for the duo-sonic, yet, but when I saw this guitar I was like: wtf! *O* and when I heard it had goosebumps :D
Phil X's Pearls, for 500
"It adapts to velocity"
BEEP!
What is Dynamic?
"You are CORRECT!"
Had one just like that back in the 80's.... NEVER should have sold it. It SMOKED.
Phil X is the Paul Shaeffer of guitarists. You should run a contest where viewers try to stump him with obscure deep cuts from relatively unknown albums. First prize is an Evil Robot (c'mon, it's not like you'll have to actually give one away... heheh).
Shit, that thing looks like it JUST rolled off the line. PRETTY
I'm trying to find one of these for a decent price somewhere. Dream guitar right here
+JPGenergy dont know if you,ve checked it out, but the epiphone double cut junior is an awesome alternative
+JPGenergy Check out Precision Guitars out of Canada. They generally sell kits but they'll assembke them for you for a small up charge. They rival Gibson in quality any day of the week. Seriously check them out.
I have one I’m looking to sell
@@Mark-cc5bv still available? Im looking for one now
@martyfischetti That's a Les Paul Special, also valuable.
nice one cheers bro
@LuccaTotti thanks...
@ZeNuno94 Boss TU2 Tuner... All his gear is on Philx.tv
I'm on a Phil X binge
Phil x the only normal non mutant to be excepted into the X-men and force for his slash your face off guitar abilities from twenty feet. Plus he is good to squirrels
I feel like an idiot for asking but I needs to know. is there any difference between a les paul jr. and les paul special (more specifically a double cutaway) besides the special having the two p-90's?
theres two guitarists doing two different solos in 'Cinnamon Girl' . That was one of them.
I laughed my ass off when he said "This is a new song, it's called......'Tune that thing.'"
@LWRCftw I think so. He also produced schools out which was one of the original punk songs. And his son (my uncle) produced the melvins, red hot chilli peppers, rise against (blah) nickelback (BLAH!!!) and several others
Maybe the word Phil was looking for is responsive?! Haha. There's a lot going on in his brains with a million riffs flying about in there. We can forgive him for forgetting a word or two! :)
@astrotrain53 it finally kicked the bucket
That sounds fucking beautiful
Cinnamon girl by Neil Young off the cinnamon girl and Neil young's greatest hits albums...
@Pirolidin it's worth whatever people are willing to pay, and people are willing to pay big bucks for the best guitars.
Could you guys please do the Strat with just the two pickups that's always looming right behind Phil's head and the maple neck les paul to his left?
@zeLudoo thank you that why it was bugging me because i knew the riff so well and listened to that song so much but couldnt for the life of me place it to the proper song i just had i mind blank thx again (could have gone through my i tunes to find it but have over 10000 song so was faster to ask)
The Drills n Juniors is the BEST combo EVARR!
BTW: Please play some Green Day
Look in the new issue of Musician's Friend. Bille Joe Double Cut is considered a "2012 closeout model". They were gone before they began.
@PilotDoofy That was the ToneMONSTER :p The ToneMaster was the one Phil X had, the accordeon amp :D
.... wish they made beginner guitars like that today hell i wish they made regular guitars like that today
