When Maynard says "..." it sends chills up my spine every time. Such a brilliant lyricist.
Or when Adam was like *feedback*
I am a grown-ass man but I always she'd a tear at that part. The truth in those lyrics is profound...

The one and only truth is that he knows his fans and does everything that expresses them perfectly.
U just made my 2020 all worth it with that comment! Well done mate
I play this song for my kids and they dance around and act like wild animals. It’s always “dad, play the tool song!” It sounds primal and nature and I can see them getting ramped up to it. It makes my heart guts melt as a father I’m not going to lie
hell yeah
That's epic
That's great man, it gives them an outlet.

I blame this song for my tinnitus. No matter how loud you turn it up, your ears get used to it and you just have to turn it up louder.
The first time I heard this, I was driving across town and this badass violent cold front was moving in. The clouds were pitch back, and the lightning was ferocious. I turned this up as loud as I could stand it as the meteorological mayhem ensued. I would have been fine driving my truck into a wall and bursting into flames right then and there.
Lmao awesome bro 🤣 glad u made it through
this is great.
😂😂😂 I got such a gnarly mental image reading this comment holy shit
I totally get that because I feel the exact same damn way. I feel like if I was in the army, about to take territories, this would be my soundtrack.
How untouchable and unbelievable is this band???
Disposition Reflection Triad
aka the holy trinity
Yep it's the epic conclusion of the trilogy
You know bro
i see you are a man of culture as well
Nope. Lateralus starts the spiral. It should be a tetralogy.
2:48 that but where Adam is reeling the band in just before cutting them the fuck loose into controlled chaos is amazing. The first half is just a slow stalk, like your tribe is hunting game, then at 2:54 is the attack, where all that pressure builds and it’s life or death to devour to survive. To me this is a victory song, for a tribe that’s evolving, adapting, surviving, learning and ultimately thriving. Just as humans should.
How do you feel about the Jarawa Tribe? Above the Forest by Vishvjit Pandya - We should connect ....lots to share and learn...8 years after I found Tool - I delivered a 30 images of Paleolithic cave art to their shaman....Whats your story?

@@Pepik it was holographic
my favourite. it is impossible to stand still while listening. people doesn't care about Triad as much as the other songs in the album because it has no lyrics. but there is no reason to write any.
as a theme, lateralus is about change and spiritual progress.
throughout this spiritual progress, a person who is free from hatred and has chosen humility, chosen his path, focuses only on the infinity in front of him, has prepared for it, accepts the change and no longer needs to speak. only lives. any object in front of it is no longer there to think about it or comment. this is the reason they went full instrumental on this.
This song is the end of the journey, a celebration.
Stoned Rosetta hell yes! This tune will never get old.. my favorite
I read this as my shoulders were involuntarily doing some kind of left-to-right, up-and-down.
I managed to sit still the entire song. might be cuz i'm quite wasted on weed, valium, pregabalin, opium tincture and stuff. It sounded really good though, really cerebral, loads of shit going on. One last listen then I'm going bed.
Fuck yes! Bad lyricsism has ruined lots of good songs, and I feel everyone is guilty of it to some degree, but Tool has always been the exception.. Pairing two genres with godly skill.
Another tool fan thinking they know what the albums or songs are about....

It's only on rare occasions that a group of people this talented and distinctive find each other in the same time at the same place. The results can often be beyond description. Tool are a stand alone, completely unlike any before or since.
mr white has spoken
My dad described them perfectly: "They define a sound, when you hear a Tool song, you don't just think, oh yeah that's a rock song, you KNOW it's Tool. They are the modern, more metal, Pink Floyd."
@@inbredbanana8156 Your father is very discerning.
@@MrWhite-sd1hl Indeed.
Pretty much the same applies to Opeth and Death, although Death did have to experiment a bit before actually achieving it
this song has such a good finality to it. it feels like you've accepted some kind of ending. death, maybe.

On the lateralus tour in 2002 I saw them at MSG, they played all 3 tracks and at the end of disposition the band went backstage (minus Danny) while he sat there playing the repetitive beat for 20 plus minutes during a light show accompanied by acrobatic stunts from the schism creatures from the actual video who came out and on stage during schism and walked on all fours bobbing their heads. They opened with the grudge and closed with lateralus which came right after triad. I'll never see another show that comes close to that. Ever.
I went to that same tour! But the show I saw was in Atlanta. They had the other drummers from the opening acts come out and do a 20 minute drum act in the middle of Reflection while the rest of the band went off stage. Then they came back, finished Disposition then went into Triad. Closed with Lateralus.

Indeed. I witnessed it firsthand in Phoenix AZ Lateralus tour. They brought out a bunch of marching band drummer high school kids to jam with Danny on 'Reflection'. Good shit.
People give lots of credit to Justin, but not nearly enough credit about how difficult the bass line in this song is. The stamina needed to play these fast hammer-ons and pull-offs on a .105 or .110 string at the 2nd and 3rd fret for 6:37 minutes straight is pretty serious. You feel like your tendons are ripped out by the 3 minute mark.
I see what you're saying. But when you've been playing as long these guys have you just build up that endurance and it becomes fairly simple. I say this because I play this song on Guitar, Adam and Justin's part are the same in that section and I do it constantly. Seems difficult but it's not that bad after practicing for a while.
Meh, I bet I could do it

Not only is Danny's drumming amazing, I absolutely love the sound he gets out of his kit. He brings the perfect volume and tones to the song.
My favourite Tool song.
Unbelievable !
Tool makes me think about myself, my own dreams and how I interact with the world. It's kind of like a self-orientated spiritual journey. Maybe my belief is that in my mind I am the center of the universe, though I realize everyone else thinks the same way, therefore I see the world as a collection of unique individuals sharing the resources of the universe. God to me is the creator, the lawyer, the rock star. God is too busy enjoying the world to pay too much attention providing everyone with what they want. I think that the altimate creator would create an after life for individuals. Individuals when they die go to a mulitverse, where they get to relive a new life, meet new people, and simply enjoy living.
Yup....this is it. This is just it.
