Check out the 3 New PADI Seiko Divers seen in this video FULL REVIEW: czcams.com/video/dQPLVX20hnU/video.html
The price is stunning too
😂
That
Funny thing is, it's still not remotely a watch of high enough build quality for that price. It's nice, but €1500 nice, not any more than that
😂😂
@@PocketUaubut ppl still buying it🤷🏻♂️
Id get one in a heartbeat if it wasn’t a limited edition. So much nicer than the BB54.
I love this Seiko, since I've had mine I haven't taken it off. I've even slept in it it's so comfortable. My SJE093 is on a 20mm black Tropic which comes up at just over 19mm. They've always come up less than 20mm, even after they re-shaped the lug end from straight to rolled. My fat spring bars fit great too, with a bit of water they slide in no problem.
That’s exactly what I did with mine too. I also wear it on an MN strap.
So many people asking how did I get a 19mm @thetropicstrap
Well @aquastarwatches sells them. aquastar.ch/product/genuine-tropic-22mm-strap-for-aquastar-deepstar/
Now remember to buy 1.1mm tips with a thinner body. 1.78mm. The SEIKO FATBOYS will not fit in a real tropic. But you want the fat tips to fill the large lug tip holes.

Best STRAP FOR THE NEW 62MAS
Starting to turn away from Swiss now that I've been learning more about high end Seikos like the SLA models. Totally slept on those. This thing is awesome.
Looking forward to a MM200 with that movement. With the same kind of size reduction, this will be a killer.
I am still happy with my Capt Willard I purchased nearly 50 yrs ago, just had a service and new crystal.Keeps good time when wearing, loses about 4 mins overnight.Great watches. Mal.
This watch is a thing of beauty and class! It could very well be the perfect 'one watch'. Well done, Seiko.
Only wish the hour indexes were cut like the original (which had the sharp machined finish).
What an amazing treat. Thank you for making this video. I just picked up my SJE093. It has quickly become on of my go-to favs in the collexion. Keep making great content. AKA Mr Valjoux
I have an original 62mas 8001, SLA017 and now the SJE093. I love them all. My SJE093 thus far has been +2 sec / day for all those worried about accuracy. The SJE093 although similar in measured size to the original appears smaller. Its definetly slimmer and lighter than the SLA017. The finish is on par with the SLA017. The lume dot at 3pm is genius as it is not very noticable unless you're looking for it. Put mine on a black artem sailcloth strap with deployant clasp - Love it. Those of you on the fence grab one while you can.
Hello there, is the accuracy still +2sec or are there changes? Thanks
It’s been running about +3 sec / day so I’m quite pleased
Congrats!! Got mine yesterday. It's such a special watch. While a bit small, a 62 Mas at this size suits my wrist much better than the SLA 043 I had. The 6L thins it out too, which was another issue i had with the 043. Great video!
Grats hope you enjoy it!
Interesting. Haven't got hands on with the Seiko yet but the BB54 fits so beautifully.
What puts me off Seiko after owning 8 watches is they just can't do a good bracelet and I have been stung too many times on the quality control re the bezel and the awful 6R accuracy it makes me very wary spending this kind of money on a Seiko watch.
@@marcusstoner1641 I totally get you on that. I have owned other high-end Seiko and they are special in person, but I don't think Seiko does a good job of getting that across at all. The higher-end movements like the 8L and 6L featured in this watch often run better than the listed specifications.
I own the new 093, and the BB54. BB54 is slow -2 seconds/day, and the 093 has been +2 seconds/day so the 6L movement is holding up well.
So for those of you with such a strong opinion, it’s worth listening to those that own/reviewed the 093.
Some people can never change their minds, even when the Seiko objectively does some things better then the Tudor. An obvious one to those who own both is the clarity of the sapphire. such a quality crystal on the seiko.
@@EscapementWatch oh, I know I’ll irritate people when I tell them the 093 is way more appealing to me than the 54 lol
heheh
I’d much rather have this Seiko if given the option between the 54*. Doesn’t say much except that I’m a Rolex/Tudor fanboy and this would be my first seiko. Something extremely special about vintage skin divers, 62 mas included that are just cool. My wrists are ogre sized
@@n.d.l.s.
This or a sla051? 👍
Your community post last month helped me secure a preorder nice & early (I currently have it on wrist!). Thank you kindly 🙂
Congrats!
I own an SLA033. Fine watch with GS’ quality. High price new but a special watch for sure at 2500 world-wide.
"You are going to want this thing." - Yep! 😁
Seiko is a king👑👑👑👑👑
I received mine and was shocked at how nice it is. Much higher quality than my BB58. Better finishing, better time keeping, better lume, better crystal, better bezel insert, etc. Worth every penny, makes the Tudor seem overpriced.
yes the first thing that surprised me is the clarity. The deep quality of that home grown in house sapphire crystal is something else. Plus the super AR coating. It made my bb54 look clouding in comparison. And while both are domed and show reflections it is much more apparent in the tudor that the AR is weak. But both are great watches cant go wrong with either.
But Seiko must start doing bracelets as good as Tudor, I like my watches with a quality bracelet so it's a deal breaker. I think it would raise the price to Tudor standard then. Although this seems a much improved movement from Seiko I still would prefer the Tudor movement. Not that I own a Tudor at the moment 🤔
@@marcusstoner1641 yeah would love a t-glide style clasp on a seiko in the future.
@@marcusstoner1641tudor movement? If one day you buy a seiko, don't buy the cheap one. buy one like this or another type of flagship like prospex LX & Marinemaster 300 . You'll know why it's worth every penny you spend than your Tudor. ✌️
Come on bruh... I love classic Seiko divers, but they could've done better. At least this Tudor comes regulated and with really good bracelet and does not do Seiko's limited bullshit and let's not kid ourselves - you can find a BB for about the same price brand new on Chrono 24 from retailers.
Also I wouldn't mind a matte ceramic this time. And stamped dial... Even the way more cheaper TIssot PRX has applied incidences.
If this was sub 3000€ - then yes. Nothing could touch this release, but as it is... the BB54 blows this out of the water. Price range similar, regulated COSC movement, not stamped shenanigans and let's not even talk about the bracelet.
That polishing on the curved lugs is stunning
Ah man these were 9:33 minutes eye candy! Beautiful shots of a beautiful watch! Well done!
Glad you enjoyed it
Looks pretty damn sweet. I didn't order one, but, my friend did. Should be arriving sometime this month (Aug). I look forward to checking it out in person when he goes to pick it up from AD.
Nice comparison with the BB54! I've handled the BB54, but not the SJE093. I much prefer the more vintage like profile of the SJE093. The BB54 mid-case is somewhat slabby & therefore has a more modern feel to it, though its mid-case is not as thick as that of the BB58, or the Pelagos. You're spot on about the SJE093 likely being sold out soon. From what I have heard from a couple of international authorised dealers, the SJE093 is selling like hot cakes!!
Nice. Release it at the same price as my SPB143 and I’ll buy it😅
This new issue will appeal to guys with smaller wrists. I still think the sla017 to 043 models are a tad better sized for most people. When people say they are overpriced and id rather buy a tudor, its obvious that they have no real experience with these high end seikos. I own the sla043 , and it blows my black bay s ang g out of the water imo, in terms of build quality. The tudor wins hands down for accuracy though. Whilst they seem expensive for what you get , you soon realise how special they are. If you get the chance to try one on, you will understand.
It is a stunning piece from Seiko.....
Can’t wait for MM200, Slim Willard, and Capt Willard with the 6L37 and 3 o’clock dates.
Handsome watch. Too many reissues and high price point though. Congrats to those that got one ❤
to be fair to seiko this is the first re-issue that is true to form. They did this once before in 2013 with the legend the 44GS Grand Seiko. Very hard to find on the market now as most owners do not give them up. I think this one will be the same. I'm sure they will a make other dial colors and EBS version but it wont be this original dial.
@@EscapementWatch i'm waiting for them to release an 8L55 62mas with this gray dial color (they released a blue dial one a few years back). Only a matter of time 😄
hahh I don't think that is happing tbh.
@@EscapementWatch maybe for seiko's 145th anniversary 😁
Re the comments on this being overpriced - I own this watch and actually think it is very fairly priced and should not be compared with Seikos at a lower price point. The bezel action is better than that on my Sub 41, dial, hands and indices are finished nicer, after 9 days i am at +2 SPD and the proportions are simply fantastic - it is a beautiful watch to wear and gaze at.
Great feedback and analysis! Appreciate it 🍺
My pleasure!
"introducing the all new..." I ❤you
Spb143 the first edition. I will keep that one
Actually the SLA017 was first, but the SPB143 is nice
I love a skin diver case 😍 but I recently bought a Seiko Tuna Marine Master Ninja with the Legendary 7C46 movement and it's my favorite Seiko diver hands down. I just want Seiko to do a faithful recreation of the Pogue. Automatic movement
pogue? that will never happen. They would need an all new caliber and the costs are high to develop. And they would have to be 5k usd.
The straps they use on the king turtle line abd other prospex watches is as buttery and nice as any rubber I’ve ever felt.. how they dropped the ball on applying that here is insane to me for the price
yeah they think this tough silicone is better for pros! And maybe it is. It comes on the SLA;s. But most buyers wont pro dive with it and would be happier with the basic silicone straps.
I might pick one up when they get discounted to around £2k.
This watch looks great on you dude!
Great review! In fact, outstandingly detailed and knowledgeable. Thank you!
Wonderful watch, would have preferred 20mm lugs, instead of 19mm. And I also would have liked a aluminum bezel. I haven't seen a ceramic bezel yet, whose look I prefer over well done aluminum. They have too much reflections and look like shiny plastic. But the watch looks so good, regardless.
I’ll keep my 037. High-beat + blue 💙
Now that's the way lume at 3 should be done. 👍
Seiko are always doing the unthinkable
Seiko is playing the Limited Edition game and upping the price. They could easily made this full production run and reduce the price by $1,200.
Love it
Beautiful.
I’m reminded of an investment commercial from years ago. In the commercial, the narrator lists all the specs of a watch and ends by saying, “$3.5K-and all it does is tell time.”
Nice, but I’ll stick with my SNK809. Just think in 50 years, Seiko will release a $10K SNK809 reissue. I’m ahead of their game.
Nice vid!
And for that price, the markers *should* be applied
The markers are pressed due to Seiko prospex policy not a cost issue. Seiko does applied indices for $80 Seiko fives and all their land sports prospex. Like the tortoise or the landmaster those have applied markers because they are not divers. Seiko says they do this to avoid failure points when diving.
It's beautiful thought
Nice watch, but $3500 and limited edition(of course)? I have a Seiko mini-turtle running +1sec/day for 1/10th the price(along with about a dozen other great Seiko’s), and a Tudor BB58 running +1sec/day and it has a 72hr reserve at about the same price but on a steel bracelet. What was the original price of the 62MAS and what would it be in today’s dollars? It’s great for Seiko to bring it back and it may be worth the price on it’s own merits, but as an additional watch to my collection seems a bit pricey. Perhaps if I had just started collecting (and didn’t have a BB58 already) it would be a great start for a small collection of maybe 3-6 watches, as is my Seiko chronograph that started my collection in the 1980’s that cost me $275(pretty costly in those days) and I still use it today and is one of my favorites. Nonetheless, the new 62MAS is a gorgeous watch that I’m sure will make a lot of owners very happy. And who knows, maybe one day I’ll get the urge to splurge on this one too.
The Mini Turtle is ignored and maligned. It’s a nice watch. If the crown were at 4 o’clock, it would be perfection in my opinion.
Awesome, awesome watch. Trying to get a hold of one as we speak. Question, you said you put it on a Tropic brand strap, but arren't they only available in 20 and 22mm? How does it fit on the 19mm lugs of the SJE093?
copy and pasted comment: So many people asking how did I get a 19mm @thetropicstrap
Well @aquastarwatches sells them. aquastar.ch/product/genuine-tropic-22mm-strap-for-aquastar-deepstar/

@@EscapementWatch Ah! Great to hear. Thanks for the info!
Silicon (or equivalent), freesprung, longer power reserve - you're describing Swatch Group's Powermatic 80!
And the Tudor mt5400
@@EscapementWatch Yes, but the PM80 is in much cheaper watches. For
sold out everywhere
This is very very nice, reminds me of the heritage turtle, which is one of best looking in their current lineup, I hope they will release a cheaper version with the 6R movement sometime in the near future
Spb143?
that's like 3mm larger, isn't it?@@ericdominguezf
Very very beautiful watch. I would put a nato strap
Don't tell me what I want! But yeah...I want one. Great video.
I'm happy I got the SLA017 new at release for 3k. But the dimensions on this one are certainly much better... 1.5mm shorter lug to lug and a whole 2mm thinner.
But the 017 is it for me, and if I'm targeting another similar diver, it is indeed the BB54 👍
the 017 is a great watch! and the 017 bracelet fits on this new case! The bb54 is very nice choice, although this trumps it in some key areas, lume, crystal clarity, ar coating, and finishing on the sides of the hands. I still prefer the bb54 cuz its plain looks. perfect for an everyday sports watch. This new 62mas is a bit blingy!
That sla017 bracelet scratched the mirror finish between the lugs the one time I used it. It also feels tinny and made the 40mm watch look bulky and generic. Probably would look even more ill-fitted on this smaller case. I'd keep it away! 🥲
i never held one before so I have no clue. But I also never heard anything good about it before lol
I purchased the SLA017 at release and then the SJE093. I let the 017 go due to size as my wrist is under 7" and the 093 fits better. Both watches are great and very comparable in terms of finish and timekeeping in my experience.
Great review of a dream watch. Looks great on you, the perfect size for your wrist. Love your videos.
Glad you like them!
Great review. As a huge Seiko fan, this is definitely near the top of my list. Can you clarify one thing? You mentioned that you got a 19mm strap from Tropic, the original brand. I looked and they don’t sell 19mm straps. Did I miss something?
It is special made for the Aquastar Model 60 I reviewed. The Synchron Watch Group is a seller of Tropic brand. So they probably made customs ones. On the inside of the strap it says Aquastar. You can see me opening the package in the Aquastar video. Also distributors of Isofrane brands of rubber straps.
Thank you. That’s great info! So hard to find quality 3rd party Tropics in 19mm.
Maybe you can buy from aquastar website. Just send them an email.
@@EscapementWatchI checked and they sell tropic straps in 19mm, 21mm, and 22mm. People could grab a 19mm for the SJE093 and a 21mm for a Pelagos 39.
there you go!
Would love another more compact marinemaster with the SLA treatment... SLA055 was cool but didnt dig the color scheme... or the gilt one that was just like it...
Congratulations! I really loved your detailed review. Now tell me how you got a 19mm “Tropic” branded strap?
Last time I checked the website only offered them in 20mm & 22mm sizing?
Yeah im interested in this answer. I need a 21mm tropic strap for my Seamaster and was wondering if a 22mm genuine tropic would look ok
You can make a 20mm tropic fit a 19mm watch. I have one on my sla043 and it fits fine.
It is from Aquastar Model 60. I unboxed it in the aquastar video. They sell tropic brand tropics at 19 and 21mm
here: they are official resellers of Tropic and isofrane. aquastar.ch/product/genuine-tropic-22mm-strap-for-aquastar-deepstar/
@@EscapementWatchthank you soo much! I didn’t know “tropic” supplied straps for aqaustar in that size :)
Great video. I was able to grab one a couple weeks ago and love it. My favorite Seiko. Can you provide a link to the Tropic strap you have? Thanks and happy holidays!
aquastar.ch/product/genuine-tropic-22mm-strap-for-aquastar-deepstar/ congratulations 🎉
@@EscapementWatch Great, thank you and thanks for the quick reply!
I want to get a new daily small dive watch that’s low profile. Debating between this and the BB54.
I love both designs
Bb54 is lower profile go with that
Great video sir
What I would like to see is a reissue of the 6215. For whatever reason Seiko seems to hate that watch, and they pretend it doesn't exist at all. They don't even bother to list it on their official history page, they go straight from 62MAS to the 1968 6159, as if there was never a watch they made in 1967 with an extremely cool marker design - that also was the first proper "Seiko" diver. The 62MAS was for its day a very generic, run of the mill skin diver design that you could get from any number of Swiss brands. It's practically a clone of the original Blancpain Bathyscaphe.
Maybe part of the issue is that they couldn't do a 1-1, the 6215 had beveled markers at 6, 9, and 12, and to my knowledge the stamps can't create beveled markers.
Right on, I can't recall pressed having bevels. But I agree a 6215 would be awesome. Another person just dm'd saying they hope for 6159. Looks like there is a want! Hope seiko is paying attention.
Seiko is afraid that if they release that model again, it will compete with the Marine Master for sales. I'm sure most people would love a smaller version of the Marinemaster
Beautiful watch
Looking forward for the non limited version with the 6R55 🎉
Very good review, as always 👍
If you get this watch, then you have a historically special watch that is not a mass product. Therefore I think the price is reasonable
Yes, the people spoke with their wallets.
If they set the price lower than 3.5k it would be cheaper than the original which would lower the price of a collectible piece. A large part of the watch industry is catering to collectors and if a brand made a move that would lower the collectibility of older watches of the same brand, that would lower the the trust of that brand among collectors which they obviously do not want to do.
Sir I beleive the Seiko king turtle is iso complied....and it's a tool watch with the 4R cal. The collections of reissues of the 62 Mas, with the 6R cal, are they Iso complied or are the 62 Mas reissue with the 6r35 cal, a tool watch as that of the king turtle? If possible , I look forward in your good selves making a video of such comparison...between the both...Thank you and Wish you well.
Beautiful watch, a little small for my wrist but regarding the price, I will prefer to save a little more $$$ and get a Grand Seiko instead, some of the dials are a work of art and the spring drive movement is a most have in any colector’s box, my 2 cents.
Love everything but the bezel sound. Seiko makes great watches, no doubt.
it is really quiet. sound is artificially boosted in post otherwise you guys wouldn't hear it.
This is fantastic, until the next one comes out 😂
Tomorrow!

does seiko have lifetime replacement parts?
Looks good on small wrists.
I know it’s expensive but fuck I want this…
I get that. Theres a new version coming for 700 less.
Do you mean the SJE101 Marine Master 200 or are they coming out with another 62mas?@@EscapementWatch
A beautiful watch, but for $3.500 with a 45 hour power reserve? With these prices, Seiko is moving itself in a tough market, with watches that have more or better specs...
I will stop thinking about seiko divers RN because they will release smaller regular SPBxxx line afterwards
Do you think they will introduce a smaller regular spb143 now? I hope so. Hope they don't try the old new release price trick the 143 is £1150gbp now so hope not more than that for a prospex
I was honestly shocked when I saw the price. 1500 EUR would already be pushing it. And Seiko vs Tudor is really one sided battle.
I love this watch but unfortunately I missed the release. Do you have any indication that Seiko would release a variant of the SJE093 in the near future? Perhaps with a blue dial.
Yes a new version is coming
Thank you!! You made my day. Any hint about the color?😄
Great review! I am also in waiting for mine to arrive and kind of wondering about this bezel thing someone made a point about, which I can’t resolve on my own even from your superb video..is the bezel slightly curved towards the outer edge where it meets the coin edge slot, this in turn producing the shadow effect, or is there indeed some kind of a gap between the two?
Not sure I full get the question but....there is no gap where the coin edge meets with the insert. It is flush. It does look to taper upwards towards the sapphire but just every so slightly.
@@EscapementWatch yeah, I meant between the outer edge of the insert and the slot. But you answered perfectly. Thanks!
Thanks for your insightful review. How do you like this compared to your SLA043?
I sold that thing awhile back. I started to get into smaller watches and especially thin watches. The 043 at 14mm thick was just to tall on my wrist. It started to erk me. Now I really appreciate a thin watch. So for that reason alone this thing is awesome. It sits well. Finish is about the same and I'm hoping they come out with an 043 version of this in a year or 2. Blue dial and ever brilliant steel! That would be sweet! Of course the 043 had the superior movement but this movement is pretty decent.
Hi! nice review! Did you squeeze in the 20mm strap from tropic? How does it fit? I am curious because, as far as I know, that brand does not sell a 19mm version of their strap. Thanks for the feed-back :)
No it is 19mm tropic from Aquastar website. Made a post on instagram about it.
I love this watch and seriously thinking of getting one, but... That 19mm lug width is annoying, but worse is the 17mm buckle. 19mm taper to 18mm straps widely available, but 19mm to 17mmm 😭. When I swap a strap, I always want to put original buckle on
If you want leather you can get TUNS straps to make custom everything.
@@EscapementWatch it's a dive watch, leather is not suitable. There's custom sailcloth available though
Did your wrist grow? Great review as always!
yeah been working out a lot last couple months.
Too expensive 😮and won’t add one to my collection!!!
At 2:02 have a good look at the zero figure on the number 50 & tell me if it looks "off" in any way. Im thinking i can see a fault.
the way they fill those numbers is really interesting. It looks almost like a silver thread pattern.
Wow! Excellent observation Johng! The “0” is on the same baseline as the “5” rather than follow the curvature of the bezel giving it a perceived slightly left lean. As a former sign painter I can see what you’re referring to and can’t unsee it now. When it comes to lettering, if it’s not perfect your mind “sees” that something’s off even if you can’t pinpoint it. Good catch there!
I just looked up the Tropic straps. They only come in 20 or 22mm. The Seiko SJE093 is 19mm. Did you cram the 20mm Tropic into a 19mm lug width?
It is from Aquastar website. I have made a post about it on instagram. They are partner with isofrane and tropic and have custom ones. 19mm and 21mm.
Movement aside i chooses citizen fujitsubo over this mas simply because they have super titanium and cheaper price.
I prefer the charm of the skx013.. 😅
So mr. Titan, is your KS 56 for sale? 🙏
Yes it is. if your in Canada or america you can email me to inquire.
Just wondered how you found a tropic strap at 19mm?..on their website they're only available in 20mm or 22mm. I'd love one as I'm with you re the OEM one...and its ridiculously long.

I shared it on my instagram its on the Aquastar website.
I'll take my 777 any day;!
The price is not affordable but the quality i really dont think will last long like the original 6217 movement...
It is a quality movement. Don't worry about longevity with it. It is based on the 4L movement which is almost 20 years old and doing great still.
Beautiful watch but too expensive. I could live without "diashock" printed on the dial too.
Seiko can never nail a re-release. Just when you think it’s headed to perfection, they screw it up,
The "original" was a Tool watch, not a luxury watch!
Just like Rolex sub
@@EscapementWatch Yes,but Rolex had been unchangeable exept for its marketing. Seiko keeps upgrading from tool watch to luxury watch something that in my opinion need not be changed!
To Seiko this IS a tool watch. It has official ISO Certification with a really LONG stiff strap for pro diving to fit over a dive suit. Price is high because of finishing and higher end movement.
Ummm. Those are applied indices. they are right up off the dial and surrounded in metal. that's not printed on. Unless I don't understand what applied means?
Seiko does deeply pressed markers. Stamp it 9 times so it does look applied. This is philosophy not cost savings, as they have applied markers and applied seiko logo on 80 dollar seiko 5's. The train of thought is to have no fail points during a critical dive.
Love Seiho but at this price I'll take the Tudor.
I have both and they were fine together in rotation. The Seiko looks the more expensive and better finished piece on the wrist, and this is from a big Tudor fan!
Curious as to why. These are more special in person than a BB58 imo. Owned several Tudor and now this SJE093, and I would choose the Seiko every time. It's all subjective of course
@@watchdogpodcast239 As I said I have not had it in hand yet. However the BB54 just wears great for me and I prefer the aesthetic, not sure I need Zaratsu polishing on my diver. The movement and the adjustable bracelet put ahead for me given they are both the same price. The 6r movement is variable although I accept it has been updated on this model and appears to be working well. As you say personal choice.
@@jaysp1910 These feature a 6L, not a 6R. Wanting a bracelet makes total sense
Where did you hear that there will be more dive watches with this movement?
From someone close to seiko. Next up should be SJE097 kinda like a 62mas but with big bevels and a bracelet
@@EscapementWatch I wish they would produce a reissue of the Pogue watch
They would need an all new movement that is thinner if they want to do it correctly. That would be expensive and they would have to price the watch very high. Soni don't think they'll do it
@@EscapementWatch Im sure there would be plenty of people who would be willing to pay good money for a Pogue watch that was finished to the level of a Grand Seiko. Especially if it is limited edition
Hopefully!
I would love to see a thinner Marinemaster 300.
Now we can really see what Seiko's business model is... MM300 prices for a heritage watch with a six series movement. No thank you. This should be under 2k.
Seiko named this movement wrong, it should be the 7L. It's an all new architecture and is used in Credor watches, which are above grand seiko.
