When I saw those arcade life gauges pop up, i knew I was playing a Hideo Kojima game
I already felt it at "A Hideo Kojima Game" in the opening credits.
I think it's a reference to the final boss fight in MGS4.

@@Miyakolover Difference is that game actually has a constant health bar. While the health bars change by game in the battle with Ocelot, here they're full on fighting game health bars for fun, which are different from Sam's normal health indicators.

Gotta be honest though, I was kinda disappointed with Higgs as a character. He had no real motivation for doing what he did. Why did he want to see the next extinction? It was never made clear at any point for his motivations.
Isn't this Troy Baker the one who do voice acting for Sam Drake? Is that his real face being modeled for Higgs?
@ONI Add Yuri onto this list. Yuri is the main protagonist from a game called Tales of Vesperia - a Japanese RPG. Troy Baker did an excellent job voicing this guy.

The music when they are having the fist fight is so emotional. Higgs and Sam both seem totally exhausted. You start feeling bad for Higgs as well. Amazing.

In 7:25 the cool details is that if you hold both hands to block and wait for too long while Higgs standing there unconscious,he'll fight back and then he'll headbutting Sam,and if you don't shake off for too long,Higgs will bite's Sam's right ears off,and after the fight,Sam's right damaged ears will stay like this until the end
Such a fun boss fight. I love the way the game subtly encourages you to do things without telling you. Those suitcases sitting around as a nice hint to use them as weapons.

I love how Sam isn't a necessarily brutal fighter. But there's no strength spared in his attacks. Those blows felt heavy and purposeful.
Gotta admit, that's a pretty damn good introduction to a boss fight.
Too bad the fight itself was very disappointing

@@kingjaad360 It really isn't. As much as I loved this game I played this on hard mode and beat him easily. Each phase after the first just gets easier and easier. Especially in the second phase where parrying is incredibly forgiving.

I teared up at the fist fight, especially when he said "deliver this, deliver that" it reminded me how much pain this game gave me sometimes, and how far we all made it
This fight on easy doesnt do it justice, I just beat it on hard and it was intense, he kills you with the knife in 3 hits vs here it would've taken like 20. You need to party him with your rope to get big damage in
. His gun melts you, you actually have to out maneuver him and use the crates while he reloads.
That fistfight at the end actually requires you to block and you dont do as much damage so the fist fight last longer and and you really feel that sense of two guys with no energy in a brawl.
So dont judge this fight from this video alone. It really doesnt do it justice

@@Theblacksaiyan92 or I just see that on easy he is able to take 20 hits with a knife removing the sense of urgency vs on hard the fight actually takes effort, and the only reason I'm saying something is I'm seeing people in the comment talk about how this fight seem so boring and uninvolved just "mash square", when it's really not

Yeah it was intense cuz ur a noob. The game is easy af. Its not meant to be the next "dark souls" type of game. As someone below said "I play play games on hard and I want everyone to know". Literally everyone switched to hard after seeing how easy it was.
As of what u brought up? U mean parry not party right? The game literally parry's for u slowing down the time and telling u when to press the button. Gun melts u? You will outrun his bullets 100% of the time and he reloads almost as long as he shoots. + the AI in this game literally only sees whats right in front of them.
And you can get higgs down to half hp in the fist fight just by mashing punch button. After that its all scripted with 2 times where u just have to mash the square button and if u somehow are afk and let him punch u to death u can just eat a cryptobiote as soon as they appear and you are back at full health.
My siblings (aka the audience) just couldn't get over how funny this boss fight was, a serious aspect with comedic mechanics/methods. That's a Kojima game at it's best.
Death Stranding tells you the one lesson that New Vegas have also told: You don't mess with the mailman.

For a game where combat is the least of the things that are focused on, they nailed the grittiness of the impact in the punches. You can almost feel how heavy the blows are from the sound effects and animations.

During my playthrough Higgs bit off a part of Sam's right ear. I actually thought that was scripted but seems like I just didn't dodge it quick enough. It's really cool to see that there are more outcomes to this fight.

The final hand to hand fight gave me some type of feeling because higgs was a great character and a great villain and I didn't want it to be over

@@eliasyarnall8099 This scene doesn't have an ounce of the weight that boss fight had that's why I'm calling it a parody. The final showdown between Snake and Liquid in MGS4 gameplay wise was far deeper and thought, they bothered to make it a real experience rather than an interactive cutscene, but also Liquid had more charisma as a villain and the stakes were higher emotionally and story wise.

That fight just made Higgs look like a total idiot that had no Idea what he was doing. But I'll admit I did like the story in some parts its just combat some parts of the gameplay really hurts the game for me.
Movel0 there’s a couple ways u can approach the fight, i used the strand which executes an awesome animation when u time it right on higgs and it made the fight more exciting

I feel like if this game wasn't released in the shadow of his previous games, people wouldn't be as happy with this game. I liked it, but it really wasn't that great.
Audio seems bugged, none of Norman's lines came up during the smackdown. "You try walking 10,000 miles across Mountains and rivers" while beating the shit out of Higgs is just the best.
