Yep or maybe persuade my handy cousin to make a piece of wood that hinges, stays under the mattress when extended but flips up when you put it up. The stain would be hard to match but a strip of some simple decorative fabric would possibly work.
Few companies do Murphy’s well. In the B+ category LTV Unity and Wonder manage to do do it. Airstream’s B+ as well. I can’t figure out why it’s so difficult. The devil’s in the details they say.

Forget the fixed ladder. A collapsing ladder is much more useful and you don’t have a slide to clean before retracting! Move the ladder where you need it, especially if washing the rig. AND, you can use a collapsing ladder at home too!

Would love a similar 19’-22’ in this weight class with RB (rear bath) & Dinette, no slide, no bunk beds, no sofa, no theater seats no camp kitchen, no outdoor shower. A true couples camper.

I like the smaller more versatile plans. Glad they deleted the camp kitchen. I would love to see a manufacturer make an option for a sturdy shelf or cabinet over the back bunk instead of an upper bunk. There should be a law that all under dinette storage should be accessible by a door or drawer. And yes, I hate when I can see the bottom of the Murphy bed.

Josh: If wife and I still had kids at home, there'd be a 22SE in our barn. What a great floor plan. Really like the double azdel. The aft passenger side storage compartment without a camp kitchen should be the standard. The lack of a ladder isn't necessarily a deal breaker. Can't say that the dark on dark/dark brown (almost black (interior is a great coachmen choice. We'd definitely option it out for a lighter interior. Really like the central A/C feature. Is there a sink cover (or an option for one) that would effectively increase the usable”counter space” until the dishes needed cleaning? Very nice to see the UUUUtensel draw is back. But I miss the road dog clock. I’d swap out the oven for a microwave convection oven. NO to the cargo door. But removable bunks would be a nice feature. At some point the kids will be gone and the bunks could be designed at the outset to be repurposed for empty nesters. As to leaving the queen bed down, if this were only going to be used as a coupe’s camper, another choice to consider might be the Coachmen 20SE. (full disclosure, wife and I have a Coachmen 204RD in our barn so we’re somewhat partial to Coachmen RV’s) Respectfully, W.S.

  • @MatthewIrvine
    @MatthewIrvine Před rokem +11

Not a lot to complain about with this one. If you've got little's, it's a great "get out and camp" floor plan! I would lose the outside speakers, what are they like a foot apart? I would like to so see a collapsible ladder mount, just to make roof maintenance a bit easier. Now, camp kitchen vs no camp kitchen... My vote is no camp kitchen. The griddle/grill's included with most are just not the best quality. I'd rather setup my Blackstone any day of the week. That said, I would like to see an outlet in the under bunk exterior cargo space so I can put in a dad's medicine cabinet of my liking.

Move the water heater into the back corner of the non camp kitchen so you have room for a small baggage door in the back under the bunk. And for a 110 outlet in the non camp kitchen area also, in case one wants to add a mini fridge or something else.

  • @craigbowers4047
    @craigbowers4047 Před rokem +2

Okay, uncle Josh, I have a real question that needs a real answer, lol. Why aren't RV manufacturers building towables 100 or 102 inches wide? I know a few brands build 100 inch wide tow haulers and a handful of campers, but this RV is a great example of how a little more width would really help the bathroom and kitchen. A half foot of width would add around 6% more square footage to this Floorplan and probably 200lbs max to the empty weight.

  • @randomspirit
    @randomspirit Před rokem +3

Seeing the top of the mattress when the bed is up wouldn't bother me. It'd be easy to hide with a curtain if someone didn't want to look at it. Prefer no camp kitchen because I want the storage. As long as there's the propane quick connect and an electrical outlet on the outside, it's easy enough to create your own outdoor kitchen anyway. I like the bathroom, but I don't like how the bathroom and big bunks are crammed together making door/access tight. As a solo, I'd be using the bunks as storage but they aren't really convenient for putting stuff in and out so this unit wouldn't be a good match for me. Plus, the GVWR is close to the max tow capacity of my truck and the hitch weight takes up most of my payload capacity, so not a great choice for my mid-size truck, either. This is definitely for a half-ton or more. But I do like the decor. I know dark wood isn't popular anymore and the lighter farm kitchen colors look nice and more open, but the lighter colors also show every little fly speck and splatter and place where condensation might have dried, so you're constantly washing every surface almost daily. Some people are into that...I'm not. I have better things to do with my time. LOL! Overall, I think this is a nice unit and I like the tandem axles and high CCC. But I do wish manufacturers would realize that not everyone is camping with a family. Some of us want work space and storage and CCC, not beds, beds, beds. LOL

I love this trailer! It reminds me of our 1st trailer, a 24 footer, that we bought in 1996 for 10,000! We had it for YEARS and camped with 5! The front bed was left to right (not front to back with the sofa) with a accordian door, and we put TONS of pillows so the kids and us could hang out on the big bed any time we wanted to. Also it had a flip up metal cover for the large front window. Those were the days! (And there were no camp kitchens or internet back then) Those were the days! :)

  • @respectbossmon

Driver-side kitchen, 12V fridge, true queen bed, solar, all plusses imho. I like how they segmented the storage on either side of the bed. The too-short tank cover is bogus. That should be replaced with a lockable cover that protects the tanks AND the batteries.
Josh, you joked about what to do with the 'wall' once the bed was stowed. But I'd like to mount a bigger TV there and replace the couch (which was cool with the fancy cup holders, btw) with storage. Then I'd like to be able to convert the dinette seating into a couch-like TV viewing place; and be able to use the table as a dine-ofa OR lower it for coffee table mode.
No camp kitchen is fine. But I'd like the option of no external storage there, and be able to use the bunk space as a compact office/radio shack/workshop/etc.

This is a similar floor plan to our Freedom Express Select 23.9SE. I have a few notes based on our experience.
The bendy murphy bed mattress in ours was horrid. We replaced it with a 6" memory foam that we also use for other camping in a big tent. Even though I am a big man, it works well, and folds easy (we regularly roll it up and strap it into a log with no troubles). I do wish ours had the platform of the murphy bed, as we transition off the front pass-through onto the jackknife sofa, and it creates a an unsupported point in the mattress right under my hips. It doesn't bother my wife, but I have to be particular in how a sleep. Also, the USB and 110 outlets on the face of the pass through beside the bed are great for phones and CPAP, but I would prefer a cubby on the back side of the wardrobe on side of the bed. I've even contemplated taking out part of the panel on the wardrobe to make it.
The movable table in the dinette is critical for us. Our 23.9 has a big U-dinette that we like for more seating, and we can move the table around so it is easier for people to get in and out. In the 23.9, the sink, stove, and fridge are on the camp side, so we don't have the big window, and our vents are blowing under the awning. I think I like this 22SE arrangement a little better for that. Also, there is no counter space. In ours, since the glass cover over the stove was broken by the previous owners, we bought a cutting board to create some usable space.
Bathroom is DEFINITELY fluffy friendly. I am a big guy at 6'4 and over 400, but can fit in the bathroom, and take a shower in the 23.9. This 22 has the same bathroom layout. It's not the Ritz, but it is functional. We like the tub for our small children to get them washed up, as they don't like showers, generally.
Water heater in the back is a good placement, except when it comes time to winterize and de-winterize. You have to flip up the mattress in the lower bunk, and lift out a piece of the platform to get to the valves. Not a deal breaker, but a consideration. We used the little cargo cubby under the lower bunk in front of the water heater as a place for a dog bed. Our 23.9 has regular mini-blinds over the bunk windows (or is supposed to have them). One is completely missing from the previous owner. Snap on blackouts are so much better.
Our 23.9 has a camp kitchen with a small fridge and a sink. We haven't used it much. I like having a fridge outside for holding some food or drinks so you're not constantly in and out of the cabin. But the sink is not too far from useless. Again, at my height, it is very uncomfortable to use the sink, but for quick rinses, or filling dog bowls, it's not bad. And we are able to tuck a 2-burner table-top camp stove that runs on 1-pound bottles in that area. But more storage for a camp stove or things like that would probably be a better use of the space. It's unfortunate that the 22SE doesn't have any form of power in that cargo area. I would call that a big miss.

Well I like the lay out. Honestly everyone knows that is a Murphy bed so that part of the bed showing doesn't bother me because as a female, I would want to put a pretty fabric on there to match the decor I want to use. I would like to see a smaller sink but still deep and more counter top. Like the free floating table, some people are bigger than others ( my husband needs a little extra room) haha. WHY NO ARM RESTS ON THE COUCH? Other Murphy's have arm rests why can't these? On these light weight campers, I would want a tankless water heater and pass through door. Actually, I had pretty much wrote Coleman off due to quality, but with underbelly being covered, electric jack, azdele double walls, sealed piano hinges , double axel at this weight, not hot touch stuff on camp side. I am impressed. Walkable roof, wow. Yes need the stackable ladder. Wow, I am impressed Coachman. After looking back at the weight, you would need the double axial haha. I guess I looked to quick earlier haha! Great job Josh!!!!!!

Like the No slide setup as it allows for easier stealth camping (quick nap) without advertising your intent.
Would forego a camp kitchen. Can put a 12 volt fridge out there if needed and swap between tow vehicle when on the road. This is presuming that cargo area could fit a 12 volt fridge. Any guess to the actual rough dimensions?
If I were to get this model, I would look at removing the bunk beds. Then repurpose the area with a desk and additional storage (maybe ebike)
I would also consider the 50 amp upgrade along with the solar package. Solar option comes with the more desirable MPPT charger which supports up to 30 amps.
So this trailer seems to offer a layout that could be easily customized to my specific needs. YMMV

Apologies we aren't provided with specs to the level of specificity that tells us the size of cabinet and storage spaces. I know I can climb in it so I feel like there is likely some variety of 12v cooler/fridge that could do the trick.
50amp is not offered on these as it turns out. May I ask what benefit you'd find by going ot 50amp vs. 30 on here?

The Murphy bed is a necessity for me, excellent use of space, doesn't bother me that the mattress is seen peeking out at the top. I cover it by tucking the quilt under the end of the bed and it displays nicely.
Disappointed in the lack of counter prep space. Storage access below the belt line should be in the form of drawers. No one wants to get on their hands & knees to search a cabinet at floor level. I'd also want a window in the bathroom and switch out the fart fan for a Maxx fan for total coach ventilation when the AC isn't needed.
I have a great TT outfitted to my liking similar to this with the outdoor kitchen, will switch the 2-burnwr stove for a 17" Blackstone griddle.

You wanted some comments, so I have several, no particular order.
    1) Personally, we like the idea of no camp kitchen. We find the storage space much more useful.
    2) Central air on this small a model is excellent. Much better than the old style AC on my 2021 20SE model.
    3) When you say "bendy bed", are you talking about a soft, thin so called mattress? If so, will a 5" memory foam mattress work in its place?
    4) I prefer a pedestal table, as long as the pedestal holders are recessed.
    5) I do not like the awning IN/OUT switch so far down. If I'm inside with the awning out, and winds really pick up, I'd have to get down on my knees to close the awning.
    6) Are there no clothes hanger bars in the closets?
    7) While the tub is very nice, for some of us older campers, the shorter step up on a shower is better.
    8) Too bad Coachmen doesn't use the GoodYear Endurance tire.
    9) The full pass through storage is a huge plus.
    10) Can live without the built on ladder. I currently carry a telescoping ladder in the pass through storage in my current 2021 Coachmen 20SE.
    11) Any wood in the laminated floor?
    12) Love that Coachmen is using Azdel both outside and inside now.
    13) Does the TV mount angle down? That would help when looking at the TV, especially from the dinette seat.
    14) Finally, a big question concerning the bunks. Is it possible, conceivable for a manufacturer to offer as an option, a walk-in closet and other storage drawers in lieu of the bunks? I like more closet storage. Going from Virginia to Yellowstone, light and heavier clothing is needed, which means more clothes and coat storage space is needed. When we were in Yellowstone in 2018, temperatures got into the 40's in early July.
Sorry for the tome. Hope it's not too much. I have liked your RV walk throughs, for lack of a better term, since the old Haylett RV days.

3.) Bendy bed - the mattress literally folds. It's just my silly nerdism name for it
5.) I just used my toe
6.) They use a hanging rack. It can be hard to see on camera. Does a great job of holding the hangers in place vs. sliding around.
11.) Yes. Top and bottom layers.
13.) It does not as a turns out. It would really help.
14.) Not impossible but factories benefit from standardization. Options create opportunities for errors. So MFGs try to limit them.

A smaller sink for more counter space. Plus change that triangle storage and countertop to something with a large pop-up extension counter. If hiding the top of bed is desired a fale cabinet door that hinges up . Plus a privacy curtain for bed. There's always trade offs ,some to keep it light or to the price lower. First off...waited months for this review...finally! I love ours and i wanted to know what your thoughts were of course.
Coming from a 2022 Nano 208 to the 22SE...I like my 22SE much more. I've had it for almost 2 months and since then I've added a shelf to the upper corner cabinet, added an outlet to the lower bunk, removed that panel under the kitchen sink that made the bottom shelf unusable, replaced all the hardware with brushed brass (looks awesome against the black), reframed the entire lower bunk to make things a bit more usable while also adding an outlet to the outside empty storage space so a mini fridge could be added. In addition I remade those panels in the front storage area to be narrower so I would have more storage space. Lastly one miss...which is a hard fix because of the existing holes...is they should have used magnetic holds for the cargo doors. My nano had them but this one has the cheap plastic spring hooks.
