2:44 on a japanese keyboard, the way to type "tsu" is shortened to "tu", which means that the file was 100% intended to be a chimney
and when you use a japanese phone, if you write only tu you have automatically tsu corrected, and when you write entotu it correct itself in entotsu automatically

PaRappa is a great franchise with a great storyline with unused content worth covering, and it pleases me to see you finally do this series!

Same, parappa and lammy are my favorite rhythm games with cute and fun characters and storylines that fit in cartoons, and I love it like FNF, but i kinda like PaRappa better ngl.

5:14 This is because the "That's because you gotta do it again" from the unused audio only makes sense in the ending of the song, so they made it just "You gotta do it again".
Though they could've used the unused audio for the ending and the current audio for failing while still driving.

5:35 is kinda surprising that they switched it to the one used now bc the unused seems to fit the rest of the song better, it sticks with the rhythm scheme a LOT better

There is literally no reason not to use the because one. It sets it up like a gotcha line. Considering there are other single words getting cut from the game for space issues. That seems likely.
@@YuyuHakurei I think the unused one would be used only when you complete the level in “bad” rating, and the used one for “awful”. But I guess they didn’t have enough space.
@@nuttyboy23231 Ya I don't know how much effort they would have put into it to be different between when you fail midstage. They do cut a lot of corners in other levels, but that could also be due to space issues.
You might be able to blame the odd dialogue from time to time completely on these space issues. While the game was really fun the writing is lacking due to odd moments at times. It does feel like a lot is missing to fill silence at times.
One small thing that wasn't mentioned: In the first game, the word "frosty" was removed from the opening cutscene for the psp/ps4 version in the US because of Wendy's copyrighting the word.

10:06 Actually, the unused version of the awful stage 8 music is found somewhere else. When PaRappa stands over stage 8 in the level menu, a music box version of the track plays! It’s my favorite of the music box songs.

There was originally going to be a 3rd PaRappa the Rapper game, called 'Project Rap Rabbit'. Here's the wiki:
"Project Rap Rabbit aimed to build upon the rhythm-based gameplay of the two companies' previous games, PaRappa the Rapper and Gitaroo Man. Set in 16th Century Japan, players are put in the role of a rabbit named Toto-maru, who must used the power of rap music to battle against powerful overlords who have corrupted the land.
The gameplay revolves around three phases; Listen, Respond, and Rap. During the Listen phase, in which the opponent raps, the player can pick up certain words that they themselves can use during their phase. In the Respond phase, players use an emotion wheel, inspired by dialogue wheels from games such as Mass Effect and Fallout 4, to determine how the player will respond to the opponent. Finally, the Rap phase has players press buttons in time to the music to perform some of the rap lyrics, which differ depending on what emotion was chosen. Both the player and opponent have Swag Gauges which go up and down depending on successful raps, and certain boosts may be applied depending on how the chosen emotion matches up with the situation. Toto-maru's status varies depending on how much Swag he has, and the game will end if he ran out of Swag."
However, it was never released due to not having a big enough budget. Sad.

Fnf has sparked some interest in and is pulling out of obscurity another one of my fav games called Vib-Ribbon. It's made by the same guy who made Parappa.

@@SobrietyandSolace I'm glad you like Vib Ribbon as much as I do. When I first learned about Vib Ribbon's existence, It first blew me away being able to play music while the game wasn't in there and yet still playing the game. It didn't occur to me cuz all throughout my life I was told never take the disc out of the ps1. Anyway I love playing Daft Punk's Discovery album. Still one of my favs.
FNF likely had nothing to do with Parappa being popular again. That is probably entirely to do with the ps4 version. Though the ps4 version is worse than the original release of the game. It did get people to play it en mass on release. It's just not a long game so people probably platinumed it in a day. xD

Interesting that in the concept art Parappa was still three-dimensional, they didn't have the whole paper cutout aesthetic set in stone for the characters yet.
i remember really getting into these games in like 2017 and then in 2020 i fell off it hard. nice to see it getting more attention again though!!!

Didn't think there would be few changes between the unused and final versions but it's cool to see them nonetheless, wondering about Um Jammer Lammy now though
that would have to be a separate video, there is no way all the unused um jammer lammy content could have been covered in this video
Even though it's a very small detail, it wouldn't be bad if the "try again" lines changed depending on mid game or being on awful/bad mode during the end

If you take requests, would you consider doing a Lost Bits on the Patapon games? It's a series of somewhat obscure rhythm games that have a lot of unused content (Things like unused music, bosses, and multiple characters, though they might only appear in promo art) iirc.
