    I’ve got the 2023 model and it’s absolutely fantastic! Easily the best bike I’ve ever had.

    Nice video which explains this machine well.
    I own a '23 701, it was a nice bike in stock form. Since I mod every bike I've ever owned, I added a Yosh R-77 can and Rottweiler mapped PC6 and OMG the bike is mental now with serous scenery blurring power. Better yet, it is much more crisp and responsive to part throttle compared to stock, and chugs off idle much better, which is helpful when off road. A good thing about the copious extra power is I was able to gear it up from the stock 15/46 to 16/45, which is the same as the SMC-R. The taller gears work way better on the street as it pulls gear to gear nicer, the quickshifter works better and it can easily cruise all day essentially vibration free at 70-75 if you need it to. If you are naughty it will rip right into the inadvisable triple digits like no single I've ever been on, XR 650 included. The solidified low end power makes the taller gearing no problem at all while off road.
    The 690 platform bikes are amazing machines in stock form, but they are also a blank canvas. If one is so inclined they can really build something special - a truly high performance no excuses 50/50 dual sport "unicorn". The thing is, one has to consider if they really want a 50/50 bike as most folks wants are biased toward dirt or street to some degree. Ya, these aren't as good as a 500 EXC-F for off road as they are much heavier, but they destroy the EXC on the street. Ya, these bikes aren't as good as a 890 or similar on the street, but they destroy the T7 or 890 light ADV bikes off road. The thing is, the 690 platform is simply "good enough" wherever it goes and they are hard to beat if you can live with that.
    I live in CO and my 701 is the perfect exploration bike, no bike I've ever owned can rip down a canyon road and yet still explore some fairly aggressive off road 4x4 routes and even single track like my 701. It sits between a 300 XC and a Super Tenere - I figure I have it covered!
    One final note, if you have a 701 and want to dress it up with a killer graphics kit, check out MotoProWorks. I got one of their kits for my bike and it is high quality and looks fantastic. The big white side panels look sweet with graphics on them. The do offer Enduro model specific kits.

    I went to my dealer and tried the GAS GAS 700, Husqvarna 701 and the KTM 690 Enduro's. All great bikes. Not a lot in it, but Husqy was the lowest, KTM a little higher and the Gas Gas the highest. A lowering kit will lower the bike by around 50mm. I'll be ordering my 701 with the lowering kit in March. Spoke to the dealer to compare the 701 with the full on Enduro but road legal bikes. Big downside for the full on Enduro's is that they are competition standard and far to advanced my novice riding ability off road. Been riding for over 30 years but not off road. I also don't like the idea of regular servicing every so many hours, understandable given the bikes capabilities but not very user friendly. This seems an excellent compromise.

      The 2024 Suzuki's are beginning to arrive. As soon as it arrives, I'll get a video up. I should be able to ride a number of Suzuki's on video this year too. So plenty of reason to subscribe!

    Does it have a fuel gauge or is this another brilliant design from KTM mirroring the 690 Enduro which for some strange reason has NO freaking fuel gauge. One of the biggest complaints is people running out of gas because there is no freaking fuel gauge. It is 2024, why does KTM not put fuel gauges on all of their bikes? I like the KTM Enduro 690 or this one, but the no fuel gauge will make me go with something else, maybe the Ducati. I think they include the fuel gauge with their 700.

    This and the Husqy 690 are probably the ultimate end game upgrade to the KLR that the KLR will probably never quite reach. It comes at a price though. Upfront costs and then also, when you slide scale THIS far towards performance, you slide a bit away from reliability and long-term dependability. That is not said as an insult.

    I have a 7 month old 701. It’s an excellent mix of old school dual sport with huge tech to keep it all in control (or not if you decide). It’s likely to replace my 890 Adventure. The Ergo seat is much better. Husqvarna do supply a screen. The muffler gets very hot which isn’t great.

      I have a Norden 901 and am hoping to get a 701 Enduro next year. I think they both offer enough advantages to excuse owning both.
      As someone who actually did owns both, what are the biggest differences you've noticed?

    So why is it required to have abs on a basicly street legal dirt bike??

    • @PeterLoweOne
      @PeterLoweOne  Před 5 měsíci +1

      It's not in Canada (where I film) but to be a road legal bike in other parts of the world (much of Europe) you need the traditional lights and horn etc, but you also need ABS. Most off road bikes have gotten around the legislation by offering some version of a switchable ABS that allows the rider to have it on by default but switch it off when they don't want the intervention (off-road riding) but that's the story.
