    309 filler is ideal for dissimilar metals, best is stainless to other steels. I use it all the time welding stainless turbo flanges to cast steel manifolds. I usually tack the flange on and the heat the part in the over to 350f and then finish welding and then place it back in the oven at 350 and taper the cooling by reducing the temp 50deg f every 30 minutes.

    Next time, try ERCuSi-A "Silicon Bronze". It's now industry standard for gray iron/ductile iron.

    How are the pulsar wastegates? I’m looking at the 38mm 2 bolt but I can’t find really anything on them other than the listings descriptions. Any insight would be appreciated!

    Wonder how well it will seal across the the divider; that will make a big difference to how early the turbo spools. The reason it results in spooling earlier is because it results in better exhaust savaging due to there being less pressure in the exhaust manifold each time an exhaust valve opens since there is no valve overlap for 3 cylinders, thus the volumetric efficiency of the cylinders is improved. So if there is any leakage between the two sides then exhaust savaging will be reduced. Would have thought it would be easier and more reliable just to weld two smaller independent waste gates to either side of manifold or turbine housing.

      The dude is drilling a $450 turbine volute with a hole saw on a hand drill in a Canadian shed during winter and your worried about the vol eff. penalty if it should leak... sheesh.

      @@jkrzeminski I'm not worried. Just making a technical comment for discussion. And as I pointed out the whole reason a twin-scoll turbo exists is to increase the volumetric efficiency (at low rpm) i.e. that is it's purpose. Thus making it a valid point.

    But there’s a reason you never see that done.
    Even with a nickel rod, there’s no way that weld is gonna hold. It will for a couple heat cycles but it will crack eventually.

      Nothing wrong with welding cast, when you weld it right. Secret is to heat up the cast before hand get it nice and hot and then weld it. Then put it in some sand well covered so it slowly cools over a long time. Should be super solid

    Great attention on maintaining the twin scroll. Hope it works for you.
    What was the goo on the core to turbine v band mating face? Looks like high temp rtv. Usually the v bands are surprising low torque and heat brings everything together tight in operation. The rtv is usually rated to c300c so potentially will get blown and mess with the flatness of the mating faces. Something to watch in operation or have you had success with this previously?

      I build nascars for my day job, and we use that exact stuff on the exhaust header gaskets so we can reuse the gaskets dozens of times

    What can I use as Glow plug with 11.5 Wiseco Pistons and Interprep head? The standard glow plugs and the 4 cylindres ones hit the pistons 🤣 Thank’s a lot!

    • @Suicid3mx3
      @Suicid3mx3  Před 7 měsíci

      The spark plugs you mean? And you will probably have to go with colder plugs or even reference one that's a shorter plug
      How much did you take off the cylender head when it got machined?

    • @olivierbedard3174
      @olivierbedard3174 Před 7 měsíci

      Yes the spark plug sorry.
      Yes for the colder one there is no problem but I need shorter ones. That’s my problem. Which one is shorter?
      I don’t know for the heads but the 11.5 compression pistons cause failure of the spark plug. They hit the pistons :(
      What spark plug do you run with 11.5 pistons, shorter ones. For the cooler ones, I can find but not shorter.
