Very tragic and powerful piece.
You should play it.
It really is gorgeous. And it’s the type of piece that separates the genius from the average. Composing in the realm of atonality or dissonance or other contemporary hallmarks is no easy task. There is a very thin line between artistry and composing a mess of jumbled notes that sound like nothing. Prokofiev with this concerto and so many others by him manages to infuse impressionistic themes and just enough tonality into his works to create pieces that are not only valiantly contemporary but extremely beautiful. This is a piece that pushes you back into your seat with awe at what you are listening too, especially that cadenza for the first movement. Just mind blowing🤩🤩🤩
8:32 boss fight music. Prok knew what he was doing.
