Working on this video was extremely rewarding, and I’m glad someone requested it which allowed me to hear more of Schumann’s music that I wouldn’t normally interact with. Schumann is undeniably a masterful composer with unique ideas, melodies, and texture in his works.
So glad you're posting more Schumann, so many of his works are so underrated and underappreciated in their musical depth and ingenuity. This (and Kreisleriana) are among one of my favourites from him. I hope you'll post some of his really unknown works in the future (like the op.56 pedal piano works ;) ).
I have had the pleasure of speaking with the Schumanns. Apparently his great-some number of grandchildren has a hair salon that I went to. Extraordinary people, kind, and charitable.

🔵🔵🔵🌹🔵🔵🔵 I like the performance very much! I love the freedom in timing, without losing long-term tension. In my opinion it fits very well to a romantic-poetic Schumann performance. I like the empasis on the rapid changes in metre at 8:30. Thanks a lot for the upload 👍

Schumann was undoubtedly a great composer/pianist. It's perhaps unfortunate that the great Chopin somehow means that this music doesn't get the attention it should.
0:16 - I didn't see a repeat, and i didn't hear the F-natural four bars before.
Same at 0:42. Is it just me?
It’s not just you. Kim seems to repeat some parts even without a repeat indication (maybe he’s using a different edition? idk enough about this piece). That made it a little difficult to make this video, but it’s not too bad thankfully.
@@TheExarion There are two commonly played versions of this piece, with the 2nd one having more repeats.

Great vid , thank you , but why did you choose the worst recording of this piece ? there is a lot of better recordings .
Someone requested that I use this recording. It's very easy to criticize. Wish people would put that energy into praise more often.

@@TheExarion well , in my opinion some notable performances of this work are Claudio Arrau’s performance , Pollini , Schiff , Kempf and of course the best one ( in my opinion ) is Eric Le Sage ‘s recording , and ngl after watching the video , i think i kinda underistimated this one , probably cuz i am not familliar with it and was quick to judge , and i would def put it with these names now .
And yeah this is a very nice work but many people consider it unpianistic and just a show off , a commenter once said that it’s a piece that u would play to impress preschoolers , but i dont agree with that , i think its great def top 10 schumann pieces , and also difficult . Anyways hope u enjoy those recordings and thanks :) (and sorry for my english lol)
