- Brand new German tier 10 CV is finally out so I can show you what this thing does.
Some carriers have AP bombs and that's nasty but this thing has AP bombs AND AP rockets + torps.
What kinda dmg does AP do? Citadel dmg. Can you heal citadel dmg? Mostly NO. Torps also count as cita dmg so this CV mostly does dmg you CAN NOT HEAL.
There is "counter play" which is angling but that is not exactly gonna be easy and possible every time.
Oh...it also can't get citadeled by itself so there's that.

I get that CVs feel like cancer, but I don't understand people that want the RTS carriers to return. Those things could _literally one-shot Montanas,_ how is that somehow more fun than having functional AA? Their alpha was absolutely fucking bonkers!

Well to be fair, CVs basically DID single handedly carry the fleet. Once carriers became a reality, the era of battleships ended.

prior to 2019 build, CVs were dangerous, but, you could STOP them with right AA build ship. Now....if a CV wants you dead....youre dead. its that simple, you can be AA spec ALL the things, and CV says, "I want you dead today" you die.

2:40 Chat says that the carriers being essentially immune to each other's attacks solves the old problem of the CVs going after each other at the beginning of the game. How is this a problem? This is what carriers historically did! If you can overwhelm and kill off the enemy CVs you have control of the air and can attack with impunity, except for AA. Any other ships were targets of opportunity once the CVs were dealt with.
If you really wanted to split hairs, CVs shouldn't even exist in a surface combat game, because a force actually bringing a carrier to a surface combat engagement would be practically suicidal and was practically unheard of, for a number of reasons, here are two big ones: One, because a single fire almost always eliminated the entirety of the CV's strike capacity. Two, because the process of actually launching and coordinating a carrier-based air strike took nearly 45 minutes. Whereas battleships really could put out a salvo about every 30 seconds, the Wargaming carrier's ability to launch, recover, rearm, and repair is pure magic.
So if you wanted to have CVs feel like they really should in a combat situation like this, they should only get 1 strike the entire match, and due to their extreme fragility, only a few hits should be enough to put them out of service.
@@Linkeh24 - Agreed, but we both know that's not going to happen. WG wants them, they're here whether we like them or not (I don't like 'em and don't play 'em) . Historically, there were carrier vs. carrier actions with the TFs being hundreds of miles apart, or there were surface actions. The only exception I'm aware of was at Leyte Gulf during the Battle off Samar when the Japanese surface group came back after Halsey was lured away by the decoy force of deplaned Japanese CVs. If they hadn't inexplicably turned around, they would have wiped out most of the three small task units that were left to defend and support the beachhead, including numerous small slow CVEs. If Halsey's 3rd Fleet had stayed home, the fleet carriers would have made fairly short work of the Japanese surface force with no air cover, because scouts would have spotted them much sooner.

GW did this to make cvs "more popular" lowing to ground any skill requirements. Back it was way harder to operate the carrier. You could lose all the planes and do nothing. Now you can suicide spam planes because they got born on the board and repaired mid air.
Can't believe that before the cv rework Montana used to be a AA city that could handle 1 or 2 squadrons, now it only kills 1 or 2 planes of one squadron, I just can't believe it.

frankly its an Insult to the whole USN: American warships are a forest of AA guns and yet they can't so much as dent the airpower being thrown at them.

See, even all this wouldn't be so bad if AA was actually functional. The fact is that carriers leave practically no counterplay and no risk to self, so it makes sense that they should be countered by people willing to sacrifice some of their ship's own power to be practically immune to CV drops, kind of like how it was pre-update.
But as it is, carriers get to strike basically who they want, where they want, when they want, unless the entire team decides to give up their entire map presence and roll up into a lemming ball.
even then it doesn't matter. unless you get good RNG and blap them with a flak burst the first strike always goes through.
Lets add 200AA power on all ships or lets make people play as a team, you know this is a team game? Ofc as a CV you can hit any 1 on map but you will lose planes, if they have some AA support around. That is why in war you need to have different weapons, to counter any situations.
@@rekslegiune6004 losing planes doesn't matter when they just regen. that's the problem. I can hammer his squadrons all day, but he'll keep getting planes back.
@@sawyerawr5783 This is exactly why my biggest complaint of the CV rework was the infinite planes. There is literally no lasting reason for them to not just fly through AA fire to get the strike off anyways. If they had reserves to worry about, they would be much more careful with them instead of yeeting planes at ships until they sink.
@@imapopo2924 One friend of mine suggested that the planes be shot down in reverse: IE the guys doing the attack run get shot at (why would the gunners engage the guys clearly not on an attack vector anyway?). and more to the point they don't get replaced when knocked out, so you actually can stop a strike.
Can't win... ther is an issue with HE spammers, so they introduce a line of CV's that punish them the most, but happens that helps break the game more.

@PumpkinCougar95 no, they have a regen timer.. if you dont language for a while when low, they regen back to full.
CV idea: Switching between your rocket/torpedo/dive bombers should have a relatively long delay to simulate the switching of armaments below deck. This idea is heavily inspired by Nagumo's dilemma in the Battle of Midway
If the game was more realistic, carriers would be even more OP, not less.

They would be more like the old system where they could do a shit ton of damage quickly, but making it too realistic would me the CV only gets 1-2 strikes off per match because launching/recovering planes takes time. These are the old WW2 straight flight deck carriers after all, not the modern super carriers that can launch and receive at the same time.
@@imapopo2924 Yes. Too much realism would make it a simulator, not a game. WW1 era battleships had a hit rate of something like 3% with their shells. Doesn't sound very fun.

text book example of how farming dmg isn't the same as supporting your team.
Sure, the dmg numbers look great, but the enemy CV hit where it mattered and helped the enemy team win by a landslide.
You are correct, as a DD player, I like when CVs ignore me, and prefer to farm damage off BBs. Best CV players are generally spotting for everyone and picking off low health targets, doesn't help pad their score, but usually results in a win.

My Sov. Soyuz got targeted by the Richthofen yesterday with exclusive AP bombs. The damages done by the AP bombs left nothing for healing which as you state in your title -- no point to have healing items.

Getting focused by carrier is so much fun. You have so much counter play.

@@anthrax2413 Don't blame the world for your lack of imagination. CVs also prevent the game from being stale by being able to go get those HE spammers tucked behind their precious islands, they spot subs and DDs, and it's a way more demanding gameplay than playing a surface ship.
You just have to select target and aim. CVs must select target, work angle of approach, manoeuver through AA, dodge flak, spot, watch out for fighter bubbles, get hunt by subs and DDs, manage squadrons...

Still astonished what kind of arrogance let WG implement a ship like the Smolensk - in 2019, when the meta was already broking thx to cv rework.
You know what i'd do? I'd double the detection range of carriers.
Thinking about it more, maybe - whenever the carrier's self-defense squadron is in the air, that can be detected and used to triangulate the approximate position of the carrier from half the map away - that way even if the ship itself isn't spotted, you can at least attempt to engage with a chance of success.
I was in a game (as tier 8 carrier in tier 10 game), where the other carrier spotted me and flew in circles to keep me spotted as I spawned on one side. Then 2 BB's in his division (Yamato and another) sunk me in 2 shots each as the map was small and they could fire across the map. A way to delete a carrier at the beginning of the game.

To be honest I'm for this, fuck rocket planes, I always wanted to get good at RTS, and AA was actually something to fear then. The only time it was broken was when you played dumb or the CV was actually good

One of the most annoying UNfixes WG did to CVs was the heavy nerf bat to AA. I thought it was appropriate that CA/CL without torpedoes had massive AA at high levels (and certain DD's could defend themselves well). They NEEDED it. But to make ALL AA worthless is pathetic.
I didn't even know that Kurfurst could take a citadel.

TN DISC SPORTS I wouldn’t be too bothered about the cv rework if the carriers had limited planes. They are already a bitch to kill with AA, and by having no limits to plane cap is just annoying and is pushing me from the game

I actually think they're slightly weaker overall than the others. Except at T8. Main issue is lack of anti DD weapons, it's basically your rockets and torps, and both require the DD to sail in a straight line.. Your planes are INSANELY squishy. At T10 the Audacious planes have something like ONE THOUSAND more HP. Even Hakyu beats them by 200-400 HP, not to mention the insane camo IJN torp planes have.
You trade speed and striking power for HP and damage reliability in these things. You NEED to aim well or position well at the least to get your damage out. Audacious, and Midway can do the same thing this thing does with LESS care for angling.
@@orangedream267 but don't forget almost all the other CVs received a change in the dispersion circle in 097 which highly reduce the damage they can do to angled DDs. Which makes German CV not too shabby in terms of hunting destroyers ( since we all know mainly is the spotting mechanics of Carrier fucks the DDs) Besides haku's dive bombers alpha damage have been nerfed a couple times so when we talking about the damage value and potential, the Germans are on the of the game tbh.
Just wait until russian CVs come out.
This is why i stick mostly to coop. Where you can still have fun and blow shit up.

You missed 1 very important thing there. When You slow down during rocket plane attack, You' ll hit more cits and deal more dmg overall + rockets can cit every ca/cl on t10 for now.

WHAT is the most consistent way to citadel practically uncitadelable ships in WoWS? Use carrier of same nation, ez pz, ofc there are lul pens on German BBs but German carriers are an actual pain the ass, even the lower tiers just the bombers were my main source of damage, but the rockets for broadside cruisers are also brutal, at least wows makes some German ships look good not like WoT where the tanks from Germany are mainly shit

That much I have learned in a few years of this game.
Always depresses me when I see a unicum get confederate, high caliber, dreadnought, fireproof and close quarters expert on a german secondary build BB all the whilst ending up with 2 solo caps and a bunch of cap resets and yet the team still manages to pull off a loss.
It is as if some people do their very level best to lose games.
Like that is what they are going for. Playing so bad they lose it for everybody.

Some players suck, their learning curve is almost flat, and glide through hundreds of matches to end up at Tier X and still can't grasp angling, scouting, or working as a team.
Thats why I dont rly play the game, I am too big of a potato to help my team win xd
@@A5M1TH Dream? no, I have done that in a BB. Still watched my team fail and stay passive too afraid to get in the battle. I have been the brawling BB german sec build getting achs, caps and scouting while my team sits in the back. Its the current state of the game. Too passive. WG introduced broken CV mechanics, HE spam, and ships like Slava and Thunderer that all promote back line play.
Man I haven't followed the German CV's development. Dude that shit disgusting. First match I try playing Pommern, I lost half my hp from one bombing salvo. How tf did this get pass?

In what way? None the aircraft in this game were grounded due to lack fuel, and none of the pilots were green trainees as a result of the Luftwaffe using all of their instructors to pilot transport aircraft that were shot down supplying Stalingrad and Tunisia.

In that sense, it's very historically accurate. CVs defined naval battles after their inception.
Although carriers are "over-powered", they have the lowest win rate among the four types.
They can do constant damage no matter what ships they face, but they cannot carry your team, if your teammates are potatoes.
Imagine CVs being able to cap just by having planes in the cap
A good CV player would have 80-90% win rate

Sounds like you're looking for realism in an arcade game? You know what Serb use to say to those things? "You want realism? Go join the army" but in this case navy. It's a game if you have a class that's overpowering every other class without any counter play against it then it becomes a frustrating game and you know why people play games? To have fun not to be frustrated because someone keeps citadeling you in the first 5 minutes of the game and completely destroys your ship without you doing anything but hey spreadsheet says they're having fun.

In the beginning I played CV’s I would use my Cleveland to protect my CV and I would get 2 -3 kills doing it but no reward but I was helping my team. Now CV play means Destroyers are impossible at level 10 and the game now is only BB’s for me.
Sadly true. DD-/crusier main here, but switching to BBs lately. By far the easiest class to play and perform in.

i take it most the guys here a high tier players with good captins and such ? How do you think this is for new players like me ive made it to tier 4 in my ussr battleship and all the games i play have 2 on each team all you do is spend 4 to 5 mins of the game eating damage and cant do anyting to stop it and there planes are endless. Was a group of my friends playing this with me all of them have given up only me still playing now. great way for them to kill the game for any new players unless they want new guys only to play co op lol
flambass you should stream some games in some tier 4 stock ships with one skill captins and show how much fun it is =)
and just think, what you experience is already an improvement. WG made changes to the matchmaker a few patches ago. before that it was not uncommon to have 3 CVs on each side in T3-T5 matches

could be fun to see CV only battle - like 4v4 or even 7v7, expecially in T4, but in any tier to be honest. Same with BBs only.
Or better - only CVs and DDs, combined as liked. Would be really interesting.
Funny how carriers are complained about as being so powerful, with minimal risk because they stay out of range of surface artillery...and yet that's why battleships and cruisers are now obsolete in reality. They're superior ships in reality, but in an MMO they have to be incredibly nerfed just to have a semblance of balance in this type of game.
I play all classes of ships in WoWS, and enjoy them all. I don't have complaints...if I did, I'd play something else. I wish Wargaming would make a CV-less battle choice, so the rest of us could hear less whining about them, and just play in peace.
no that would be smart from wg, you know they are a bunch of disabled drunk apes ans cant balance anything, if its german, it sucks, if its russian, its way too strong, unless your a Khaba or Trashkent, if its a CV its god tier
And its just stupid how WG made CVs have infinite planes, almost non existent fire duration (5 sec from 40-45 sec), planes can no take off if the flight deck is on fire, that used to be the case only if you took the perk
Wg buffed CV from being good but only if you know how to play them to borderline overpowered and broken for no real reason
