This podcast's ability to have running jokes that only appears like once every 30 episodes is one of my favorite things about it. That said I busted out laughing hearing the defender of the earths theme
I sleep with the Weekly Planet Podcast on autoplay and 2 things are guaranteed to wake me up every time. James' Vaccine rant or the Defenders of the Earth theme song.
I love how Defenders of the Earth is the best theme ever, how it got dropped in at random and not so random points for years, and how now it just sounds like The Weekly Planet defends the Earth now with weekly comic book movie news now. Also some will never know what the comic book news used to shoot up, but here's a clue - it's not drugs! Love.
It's not even 25 days in and we already have the BEST new theme song for any pod cast or series for 2023. This was always going to be a difficult change, but you outdid yourself and exceeded expectations on every possible level.
A couple things about the Invincible Season 2 teaser. One thing that's noticeably different is the footage has actual compositing on top of everything. Season 1 didn't have much post processing work, so most of the characters and backgrounds looked very flat and at odds with each other. Now they seemed to add some filters and lighting to help with the atmosphere. The second and bigger thing is the teaser was directed by Balak and animated by his studio Bobbypills. They're known for their combination of traditional frame-by-frame animation with rigged/puppet animation. They're most famous for the web series "Peepoodoo," so you may have an idea of how their works move. The reason this is important is because Season 1 had a terribly small animation team. Maven Studios is a Korean studio that did all of Season 1. Most episodes only had a handful of key animators, one episode in particularly only having one animator - which is *a ton* of work for a 45-minute animated episode. So hopefully this means the additional studio can ease the burden of production for the preexisting studio.
One of Lobo's creators, Keith Giffen, was also one of Ambush Bug's creators. I cannot believe that James Gunn will long be able to resist using this Deadpool ancestor (created in 1982) especially since it is the perfect role for Sean Gunn - so it will be Dave Batista in that role.

It was shown to some of the third-party partners, after they most likely signed a NDA. Hasbro and WotC are walking it waaaay back and definitely referring to it as a “draft,” when it actually was a final draft that was to go into effect January 13.
Literally went to play this to a friend who'd never heard the podcast just to hear the opening theme. He just looks at me confused and I look back confused. This must be what people mean by "butthole void".
As much as we all love joking about how grumpy Harrison Ford is these days, if you ever need cheering up, look up the clips from the promo campaigns for Bladerunner 2049. Ford and Gosling genuinely cracked each other up. I've never seen Harrison as happy as during the interview they did for This Morning in the UK.

Not to say you guys dont deserve a break cause like everyone you do but I'm glad your back. Also I honestly thought there had been an expendables 4 already before you announced it.
Re: Invasive introduced species, I live near New Orleans where famously Nutria were introduced for fur and meat but now run rampant but my least favorite is the accidentally introduced “fire ant”. These biting ants have no predators here so quickly take over. Their bites stings produce welts that develop heads of puss. Probably one of their worst attributes is that they release a pheromone which allows a coordinated attack. You will have maybe 20 crawling on your leg while your shoes are covered with them, then they all sting at the same time. I had about 23 mounds of them in my acre yard two weeks ago. They also hold on to each other and float as a mat on top of water. So if you are walking through puddles you may end up with a hundred on you at once.
'All-Star Superman' seems like a risky model for any Superman reboot. As you guys say, the comic deals with a mature Superman coming to the end of his career and his life - so the opposite of what Gunn says he wants - but I also think 'All-Star' is one of those stories that's beloved of people who already love comics, but would baffle and alienate your average moviegoer with Grant Morrison's reverent love of Silver-Age weirdness and esoteric cosmology. It also moves at a pretty leisurely pace and - while it has a ton of heart - isn't what you'd call action-packed. And yes, it ends with Superman, not exactly dying, but evolving into a being who lives inside the sun and keeps it alive. It's all kind of a trip, and no way to reboot Superman for a general audience, imo. (And as far as end-of-career Superman stories go, I honestly still prefer Alan Moore's 'Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow'.)
