The Last Duel would've been my best movie of 2021 if they had just included some hoverboards. Back to the Future II had hoverboards and it's one of the best movies of all time, so it seems like a real rookie move for Ridley Scott not to include any.
Absolutely agreed, it's always sad to see someone losing their touch late in their career. Hope he can fix it in the director's cut.

We need a “DID you put YOUR name into the GOBLET of FIRE HARRY” award for most unexpectedly gruff and incomprehensible line reading in a movie, I expect the next Batman will clean up.
I have no idea why I’m considering this now but when one starts Batmanning around, how does one best get their name known and fear in the hearts of criminals? Like Christian Bale do you just go around beating bad guys up and screaming at them, “I’m Batman!!!!!” While giving them the absolute worst beating of their life, while avoiding too many head shots so that the bad guy can still remember and tell all his buddies your name?
Everyone remembers it being so insane but when you rewatch the scene it really isn't THAT bad lmao
I work at a gym and on the day Betty White died, I was making a shake for a guy and I poured this guys shake, poured the extra bit of smoothie into a shot glass and the guy took the little cup and went “too Betty” and did a shot of protein shake

I didn't look it up but I was almost 100% positive of that myself. Stevie Nicks all by herself I believe. Love that song. Her rendition especially. Makes me tear up and think of my dearly beloved & departed Dad every time
It's a Fleetwood Mac song, it is just on the proceeding album, the self titled one, which was the first album for Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham to appear on.

FD Signifier is great. I watch a lot of video essays because I like having smth long form on while I work and usually I’ll be like “huh yeah that’s some cool analysis” but his stuff is what’s made me go “whoa! That’s a whole new connection, I’m going think about this movie totally different now!” Would recommend if you like podcasts, his vids have a very chill vibe and are quite thoughtful

Shang-Chi, Black Widow and Eternals all cost $150-200 mil and made $375-420 mil (all in the range of profitability). So, why is Eternals singled out as a financial failure? And while a sequel hasn't been announced yet, there are a number of marvel titles that have release dates, but haven't been officially announced.
Not sure that you understand that $50mil less in budget and $20mill more in box office is a significant difference in profitability. That, and official Marvel producers denying there will be a sequel.

Suicide Squad, Arcane, and No Way Home, in no particular order except when they came out, were the best of anything in 2021. Arcane makes all of the Marvel shows, including Loki (which I really, really liked), feel like they were written by a 12-YO.

I saw a really cool documentary on Giallo at one point, i can't remember where or I'd point you to it, but Giallo meaning Yellow was actually the precursor of Slasher films as a genre, out of Italy. Characterized by Noir'ish styles and POV shots of the killer, murdering ladies, etc. That's all I remember.

The Flaspoint storyline sees Flash change a lot of continuity but not in a good way so I'm sure any changes in The Flash flm won't define the future of the DCEU
I mean rebooting that mess is probably the best idea but I don't think making flash first move a Flashpoint movie is the way to do it. Flash deserves better Ezra Miller sucks as flash.

Keeping up appearances wasn't the equivalent of the golden girls, I think Waiting For God was more comparable
the entire zach Schnider continuity being erased on screen in front of all of its weird fans would be like a personal gift from Hollywood to me.
I don't really interact with a lot of DC movie fans so I'm not sure how weird his fans are but idk, I think there's some good potential in his universe. Justice league might have been long but personally I'd like to see his Darkseid on screen.

Have you watched The Expanse? It’s one of the best Sci Fi shows ever and deserves a bigger audience. The Amazon seasons takes the show up to the sixth book, and there is another three that won’t be adapted without some broader appeal
DCEU retconning their “bad” movies like BvS and WW84 seems pretty lazy, and mean-spirited. And I hate WW84, but I’m sure it has its fans. Is retconning really necessary?
Marvel made Thor The dark world come back around in a positive way, I'm sure DC could figure out how to make WW84 work too if WB wasn't so lazy
Assuming there's any truth to the rumours, I think it's probably less about erasing those movies than it is about setting things up to go forwards - getting Chris Pine back for WW3, and replacing Batfleck with Keaton's.
