The Four Seasons, with Frankie Valli, remain untouchable, for all times.
And this one track, plus 'The Night', are here to make sure everyone knows just why that is.
    As the man says...
    Their catalog is just unbelievable.
    By the way...
In UK, and the rest of Europe, he has something special going on. Him and the Seasons are top notch Northern Soul heros. And all this is earned. To the fullest.

Frankie Valli and the 4 Seasons were the New York rival of the Beach Boys. They had very simlar bands, but their sounds and attitudes were very different. Beach Boys were originally the friendly, sunny California band singing about girls, surfing and cars. The Beach Boys brought the California beach bum vibe to the world for the first time. The 4 Seasons were tougher, their vocals had a distinct New York gangster swagger. They hung out with New Jersey and New York gangsters in swanky clubs, not getting sand in their shoes on the beach. Two very different vibes, but both are great in their own way.
Both bands played their own instruments and wrote their own tunes, which set them apart. Both bands were able to play their instruments while also singing rich, 5-voice jazz harmonies. This was quite new at the time. In fact, we don't see many artists these days experimenting with vocal harmonies nearly as much as they did in the mid 20th century. The days of Motown, Phil Spector, etc. It's hard to explain, but basically the Beach Boys and the 4 Seasons were able to bring jazz into early rock and roll by singing these mysterious, emotional 5-note jazz chords. Nobody had heard anything like it before. There were lots of vocal quartets (4 singers) back in the 1950s. You had barbershop, doo-wop, the groups that wore their high-school letterman sweaters. But the fifth singer took the Beach Boys and the 4 Seasons to the next level, and made them kings of the early 60s.
