    Hi Bob,
Can you recommend some exercises for cervical instability? I seem to have it both at the lower and upper cervical area. History of old whiplash and recent incidents of overstretching (unsuitable stretch). Although there is no spondy on the MRI, I do feel a forward and upward slippage and my head falls down and also forward. TMJ issues too. I do have a ligament tear at L5/S1 and believe there is hypermobility at the TL junction. The extensor chain is very weak. Overstretched muscles and weak ligaments. I cannot do chin retraction (double chin) and isometric exercises because I cannot keep the upper neck stable and neutral enough. My skull seems to get stuck on its vertical axis. I am just barely able to do standing chin tucks. Been strengthening the upper and mid back, with some glute work, and mostly gentle neck range of motion exercises. Need to strengthen the low back and back of neck. Hope you can help.

@@manzariqbal8493 Its called Cervical Radiculopathy. Get MRI done of the cervical spine along with xrays and see a physiotherapist then once the report is out. Your hand pain is coming from the neck, there are exercises for it you can look online and physiotherapy will resolve them. Doing them yourself especially if symptoms are severe is not advisable. I have suffered from the same issue and it took me months at physio and then at home exercises to resolve it. Also your posture matters, which caused it in the first place. Stop using your laptop with your neck bent, use everything at eye level and once your symptoms are better and disc bulges are back in place with exercises then you should follow this routine that Bob has given, itll help with complete rehab while strengthening your upper back and correcting postural issues.

But before following any of this, do see an orthopedic doctor and get your reports done first, only then they will better suggest you medicines and physiotherapy/exercises.

These exercises are excellent. I was diagnosed with disc degeneration of c5-c7 last week. I was devastated as I am 57 years old. I am very active, I do fencing, brazilian jiu jitsu, kick boxing. I am seeing a neuro surgeon in 3 weeks time. My doc said all sports must be stopped. Could I at least still kick a boxing bag - not using my arms?
