- On this week's segment of the Vlad Couch, DJ Vlad sits down with lyrical assassin Royce Da 5'9". The "Tabernacle" emcee talks about his latest project 'Layers' and learning to be a more versatile artist. He speaks about his relationship with Eminem and being apart of a collective like Slaughterhouse, and the public's perception of super lyrical rappers.
Royce talks writing for Diddy, and how the Bad Boy mogul forced him to learn to create a flow and the importance of rewriting a verse to perfection. He also reveals ghostwriting for Dr. Dre on 'The Chronic' at just 19 years old, and he delves into the now longstanding beef between Drake and Meek Mill; and defines what it means to be a lyricist. Even saying Drake's status as a top lyricist is smeared because of his use of ghostwriters.
Royce also speaks about his battles with alcoholism and Eminem being the reason he checked into rehab. The Detroit native also criticizes Flint, MI for the water crisis, believing that Black people are used as guinea pigs in situations like this.

I told myself the day when Prince died, I wish Vlad interviewed him before he passed. He has an uncanny way of pulling the real out of people, that gives us a inside look of their world.

I've got this Album Layers it's a brilliant Album and body of work, to the point before I even knew who knew who slaughter house was or who Royce was, I didnt know much about, him until I saw the interviews with Royce 5.9 and I like all of them, and thought why not get the album layers , I did get it, and all I can say it's a very consistent album, I love how the songs really speak about who he is as a person, and rapper, for peeps like me, just get to know this bad ass rapper and I'm glad I bought and I would say to everyone , if u like dis interview and u dont have the album GET IT!!!! keep up the good work Royce 5.9

THeHypeIsReal what he was trying to say is that Layers was his first solo album under his own label (Bad Half Entertainment) all his previous work was done under certain production companies, for example Success is Certain was under the label Gracie Productions, he was implementing that he felt free to do what he wanted since he had no strings attached now that he has his own label
