  • What happened to the NFL Primetime games this year? It just feels like Thursday Night, Sunday Night, and Monday Night Football have all felt boring this year. I don't remember the games ever being this boring, but perhaps I'm just looking too much into it.

Jets/Giants/Bears will always been on primetime a few times no matter how good or bad due to the large market so we just have to deal with it. As for Thursday night, they do not want to put major games in those slots due to injury risk and less preparation making it not entertaining. Also you cannot flex a Thursday game as teams would be irate at the thought of being forced to play twice in 5 days lol

It is all about overkill. NFL wants to make so much $$$ off those extra prinetime and late season Saturday matchups.
They really made a blast with SNF in mid-2000s cos NBC saw it as ratings cash cow. From that first matchup, "Manning Bowl", SNF has been really popular. But they need this!??!?

I’m old enough to remember Monday Night Football in the ’80s….. nothing but great games. To me, the NFL is never boring so I'll enjoy watching everyone I can get my hands on Well there are a couple problems 1 Every team is entitled to a prime-time game slot and as the NFL claims they use advanced analytics to make sure that all the prime-time games are the best games on the schedule I remember for the majority of my life time very body started off with everyone getting at least a Monday game followed by at least one Sunday and Thursday game. But after 6 weeks if your team is shit then you were getting put on Sunday afternoon or at least Monday but Thursday was the real deal. They should really get rid of Prime as well as all the other expensive streaming services since it is basically in my terms segregation where it's a choice between putting food on the table or watching your team once a year watching your team on the apps.
But here is my idea 💡 going back to the last game of this season for my Steelers instead of playing Baltimore who already clinched the number one seed and since Houston won their last game against IND, that just left Pittsburgh and JAX instead of the Jaguars playing a worthless game let the Titans play Baltimore and Pittsburgh and Jaguars go against each other for the final playoff spot like the NCCA basketball troument where the two lowest wins have to fight to get in with the loser goes home.
That is what the NFL should implement for week 18 if two teams are tied for the final spot or like the AFC South situation which was a tie. TNF has always been an experiment and is often available to a limited audience. 1st it was exclusively on NFL Network, then it was on Twitter and NFL Network, and for a few years, they put it on network television. FOX no longer wanted TNF and Prime rose to the occasion. The NFL has proven to be a successful way to build an audience. In 1994 FOX purchased the rights to the NFC in only their 6th year of existence. They didn't have many viewers but had investors with deep pockets. The NFL took them from being a joke to the network they are today. Amazon is following the FOX model. Also many advertisers like working with Amazon, because you can purchase products straight from the commercial. The best game I ever witnessed on primetime, was the Chiefs vs Rams when they combined for 100+ points I was at the Panthers-Saints game and kept thinking. "Is anyone actually watching this on TV?" At least the Pats won’t get too many primetime games in a season anytime soon now that Belichick is gone. He was literally the only reason they were still constantly on primetime TV after Brady’s departure. The Raiders vs. Chargers was actually pretty hilarious. I’ll be honest. This new era of QBs is the worst & this season was downright terrible. Not just because my team was bad. This is coming from a defensive fan & even tho I am not a fan of either team, I actually watched the Bears Chargers. That game should’ve been Albert and Vilma, not SNF
Amazon Prime is actually a top-tier broadcast. Horrible company but with cool stats and podcast options. The Spanish one is always hype so even if the games are boring, which most of TNF games were, it's still fun. You need to think you can't just ban teams, especially in big markets. But anyway, the games have also been bad because a lot of star QBs went out for the year. With that happening the type of play is going to be boring They should take a page out of the NBA’s book and reserve their Primetime games for popular teams, rivalries, or teams with rising stars creating buzz. I've been saying this for a few years......Primetime games should all be on twin networks so that there will no longer be a monopoly on our 4 hours a night where we're glued to our sets I remember when prime-time telecasts featured teams playing well that season and had playoff implications. Now every prime-time game only shows the choking Cowboys or teams from big markets. If anything, this is the reason why Prime Time is failing. I don't mind Monday and Thursday Night Football because it gives me something to look forward to during the week. But Sunday Nights? I've kinda grown to dislike my team playing on Sunday Night. They were bad for several years so we didn't get to play on NBC a lot. I just got used to seeing them on CBS or FOX, and then after the game's over I talk with family about it and enjoy the rest of my day before getting ready for work on Monday. The team got good again, and we started seeing them on SNF a little more than usual. It felt great at first, but the novelty wore off fast as I realized I'd have to wait the entire day before seeing my team play. But that's just my take Even with Fantasy games on the line I willingly went to bed before/during more primetime games this year than ever before Seems like a lot of the best matchups were put at 4PM this year. Everyone keeps saying the Bears are on it so much because they’re in the huge market of Chicago but I’ve been watching the NFL since 2013 and I swear the Bears did not used to be on primetime this often😂 this has been a new thing for the past 2 or 3 seasons Adam Silver is an awful commissioner 😂 the NBA is low key struggling The most exciting game for Monday night was Vikings and Niners “Tommy Devito from the Mushroom Kingdom” 😂 great vid though. I felt the same about primetime this year and didn’t know if that was unpopular or not And yet Sunday Night Football is the highest-rated show in the country every single year. Quality games or not, the ratings say otherwise First of all, don't touch my Bears 😂😂. We suck so bad I'm surprised we still have 8pm games. I've been watching the NFL since 2012 but because I live in Europe, I don't watch a lot of prime-time football since the kick-off is at 2am. I never understood the point of TNF because they've always been bad. While I don't like it, I understand why the Bears, the NY teams, and other NFC East teams get a lot of 8pm games: money. They are some of the biggest fanbases and will bring a lot of viewers. Soccer is my main sport. In my national league, the calendar for games is also decided before the start of the season for each match day but the kick-off times are defined a few weeks before said match day. That way, depending on the form of teams, we can guarantee people to put good games on prime time. Except like 4-5 games which are guaranteed to have prime time even if the teams suck.
Bro why tf don't u get more views and subs... swear I ain't heard anything more factual and "got me dead" than this video today man 😭 keep it up! Think about it from an off-season standpoint. Ppl thought the bears were gonna be fun this year. Giants won a playoff game last year and ofc NY is always gonna get their share of prime time. Jets were supposed to be Super Bowl contenders. In retrospect, the matchups make sense. Unfortunately, Carolina was a bust same goes for Den/NYJ/NYG/LAC. They got unlucky this year tbh. Idk man the bears had some decent prime-time performances this year, being more of an MLB fan (Manfred is crazy)! Prime Video might suck but Prime Vision is a blessing I'm glad this video came on my recommended. Got a few laughs out of me. Looking forward to seeing the other videos Bruh the Guandong Giants made me piss myself 😂😂I only like watching Thursday night anymore because it's just on and it kicks off the weekend. I think the main issue here is the NFL overhyping and under delivering on TNF and MNF, which are both supposed to be secondary games. Right now SNF is supposed to be the game of the week and the others two are just supposed to be normal matchups which happen to be away from the Sunday schedule. The NFL either needs to not hype up TNF/MNF or actually be more intentional about putting out the best matchups.
Also - there were times this past season where the League didn't use their flex scheduling when they totally could have and should have.

Holy shit. Begging for NBA's Slender Man to become the commish of the NFL invalidates every single one of your points.
Goodell's not fantastic, but he's doing a fair job- even though some people have convinced themselves that he doesn't realise how bad the reffing is. He's biting his tongue and begrudgingly ignoring it.
The Super Bowl logos are becoming more personalised, he's oveturning the one shell policy for alternate helmets, he enacted the rookie pay scale cap, he finally had the balls to force a sale of the Panthers and Redskins from terrible owners- even if the Panthers just went to someone still awful at football relations. Also, I will admit that I appreciate how he's aware of how much people hate him and encourages the booing at the draft. He's also tried the make the game safer without making it flag football even if people think it's too soft now, and he's done a great job with the compensatory selections to reward teams for hiring coaches of colour and seeing them be poached for higher positions. It's a natural way of incentivising diversity without being forced and involuntarily insulting to good coaches by essentially begging teams to hire them.
He also apologised for the media treatment of Kaepernick. Agree with Kaep or not, I appreciate that Goodell was willing to go "look, I was wrong and so was the league."

Quite a handful of these games had to face the challenge of flexing. CBS and Fox both get to protect one game each per week and there were weeks where the good games got protected or all the games that week were hard to switch out for an upgrade.

SNF isn't the same without Al Michaels. Mike Tirico is good, but Al and Cris Collinsworth have great chemistry together.
Fox is much better with Kevin Burkhart and Greg Olsen. Buck and Aikman were terrible and bias.
CBS is actually good with Jim Nantz and Tony Romo.
MNF - Meh. Can't stand Joe Buck and Troy Aikman. Thank goodness for Peyton and Eli Manning.
Honorable Mentions: Kevin Harlan, Tony Dungy, Mike Tirico, Paul Allen, Tim Ryan, Greg Papa.

Pretty simple. The NFL wants its largest media markets on prime time regardless if they suck (NY teams, Chicago, LA, etc.). Another problem is that the schedule makers go off of last year's results when scheduling. The Giants were good last year, so let's give them 4-5 prime time games. Whoops, they suck again! The NY jets had just added Rodgers so they could be good! Whoops, they suck again too. The NFL also wants variety for their prime time games (putting different division rival match ups on air). NFC South was a dumpster fire. AFC West sucked minus the Chiefs. Also, they need to get rid of Thursday night football. With that being said, nothing is going to change because they are still killing it with the ratings.

Think about it from an off-season standpoint. Ppl thought the bears were gonna be fun this year. Giants won a playoff game last year and ofc NY is always gonna get there share of prime time. Jets were supposed to be Super Bowl contenders. In retrospect the matchups make since. Unfortunately Carolina was a bust same goes for Den/NYJ/NYG/LAC. They got unlucky this year tbh.

True, that’s probably why prime time games shouldn’t be decided at the start of the season. Maybe have the decision be made like two weeks in advanced so you have kind of a basic idea of which would be good matchups.

I remember for the majority of my life time very body started off with everyone getting at least a Monday game followed by at least one Sunday and Thursday game. But after 6 weeks if your team is shit then you were getting put on Sunday afternoon or at least Monday but Thrusday were the real deal .
They should really get rid of prime as well as all the other expensive streaming services since it basically in my terms segregation where it's a choice between putting food on the table or watching your team once a year watching your team on the apps.
But here my idea 💡 going back to the last game of this season for my Steelers instead of playing Baltimore who already clinched the number one seed and since Houston won there last game against IND , that just left Pittsburgh and JAX instead of the Jaguars playing a worthless game let the Titans play Baltimore and Pittsburgh and Jaguars go against each other for the final playoff spot like the NCCA basketball troument where the two lowest wins have to fight to get in with the loser goes home.
That what the NFL should implement for week 18 for if two teams are tied for the final spot or like the AFC south situation which was a tie.

Notable games this season put on national tv for god knows what reason:
    Steelers-Raiders, Jets-Raiders, Giants-Bills, Packers-Raiders, Saints-Panthers and LITERALLY INCLUDING THE FUCKIN BEARS.
I understand a few of these matchups had historical significance but that doesn’t automatically mean the 2023 rosters will make for an entertaining game smh. The nfl really messed up the schedule for primetime this season, they may need new schedule makers if it’s not better next year cuz all season I struggled to understand the thought process behind some of these teams they scheduled. And last but definitely not least, STOP PUTTING THE CHICAGO BEARS ON PRIMETIME FOR THE SAKE OF AMERICA

first off, only teams coming off their bye week should play on Thursday night that way no team plays on 3 days rest. Then only teams with winning records from the previous season should get those night games. Sorry Bears, no TNF, SNF, or MNF for you. Since all the playoff teams have to play each other the following year, maybe those night games be reserved exclusively for those games.

I don't mind Monday and Thursday Night Football because it gives me something to look forward to during the week. But Sunday Nights? I've kinda grown to dislike my team playing on Sunday Night. They were bad for a number of years so we didn't get to play on NBC alot. I just got use to seeing them on CBS or FOX, and then after the game's over I talk with family about it and enjoy the rest of my day before getting ready for work on Monday. The team got good again, and we started seeing them on SNF a little more than usual. It felt great at first, but the novelty wore off fast as I realized I'd have to wait the entire day before seeing my team play. But that's just my take

Video is funny asf but it’s get annoying hearing people complain about defensive games. Football was founded on defense brotha. 7-3 games, sure, not thanks. But tense 19-17 games with weird endings? Hell yes.
As for the bears needing to stay off primetime, disagree. They seem to win quite often in primetime. They’ll be back next year and their future is super bright. Were you complaining about lions games on primetime this year?
As for the jets, I can understand Why they had so many games. Rodgers on the jets was supposed to be cinema.
As the the giants, I mostly agree, they play like absolute dogshit in primetime 90% of the time. But that packers game with the Tommy devito hype was fun
As for who the hell has prime video, a lot of people. It comes free with Amazon prime which most people I know use or at least cycle free trials. You’re spot on about Al Michaels though. Getting tired of his voice.

First of all, don't touch my Bears 😂😂. We suck so bad I'm surprised we still have 8pm games.
I've been watching NFL since 2012 but because I live in Europe, I don't watch a lot of prime time football since the kick-off is at 2am. I never understood the point of TNF because they've always been bad. While I don't like it, I understand why the Bears, the NY teams and other NFC East teams get a lot of 8pm games : money. They are some of the biggest fanbases and will bring a lot of viewers.
Soccer is my main sport. In my national league, the calendar for games are also decided before the start of the season for each match day but the kick-off times are defined a few weeks prior to said match day. That way, depending on the form of teams, we can guarantee people to put good games on prime time. Except like 4-5 games which are guaranteed to have prime time even if the teams suck.
