My son was deployed there too. He traded somethin somethin for a korean size 13 boots none of them could wear. Said the trade negptiations were fun and interesting. I think he traded a hat for the boots. Still has them at home in Louisiana, still wears them. Fun times!

Pretty sure they would be spotted the minute they had to open their mouth, north Koreans don't even know the first world exists.

The difference there is less in accent but more in used vocabulary and also the way grammar is applied. In the past decades South Koreans adapted many loan words from English and some from other European languages. Also there's probably much more grammar that has been simplified in South Korea due to gradual changes over time in casual speech. This difference is increasing with each day of separation. 50 years ago you probably wouldn't have spotted a difference but 70 years of isolation for one half do this to a language.

there are a lot of neighborhoods where dancing is very common, either in the street (freestyling) or in youth clubs/adult clubs. im american and i know a lot of people who dance that don't "look like a dancer". america loves all forms of dancing and dancers :)

I did my Marine Corps mountain training with the South Korean Roc Marines too back in the 80s. We played one legged hop chicken instead of dancing. You attempt to knock each other down with out using your hands, just shoulders, while hopping on one leg It's actually pretty hard to do once your standing leg burns out, but then you switch to the other leg lol! But that's what we did to let off steam. They were very cool and great athletes. Little guys too, but strong! They were very competitive and all black belts. A lot of fun. I enjoyed South Korea.
