Amtrak to Winter Park, FL and Train Watching 12/31/15

We decided to take a day trip down to Winter Park before school and work started back up. The 91 Silver Star on the way down and the 98 Silver Meteor on the way back were both 1+ hours late giving us around 4 hours in Winter Park. During that time, we saw about 5 SunRail trains and Amtrak 97. The tickets were pretty reasonable and we had a great time. I hope you enjoy This video!

I'm not exactly sure, but hearing it a few different times I think it's mounted right behind the front plow. But yes, it does sound flat.

That sucks about no dining car on the Silver Star, that's a long distant train, it goes all the way from NYC to Miami, via of Tampa both directions, Amtrak needs to put that dining car back. The airlines are screwing up a lot and this maybe the opportunity for more Amtrak passengers and this is not the time for Amtrak to get cheap with long distant service.

No dining car on the Silver Star anymore. Just a Cafe car. Sleepers are supposed to be cheaper. Frankly, if I'm going to take a train from NYC to FL, I want a Sleeper AND a real dining car.

Take the Silver Meteor. It takes 2 hours less too and has a dining car.
