That kind of hug is totally unnecessary, unless she already has feelings for Tristan.
Exactly. Women should not seek such intimate support from men that aren't family or aren't husband.
@@DivineLogos But Tristan was set to be her brother in law. And as you see, he was clearly already attracted to Susannah.
She fell for Tristan at first sight.
When your brother looks like Brad Pitt, you don’t bring your fiancé home to meet the family.
@@RHINOSAUR true!!! 🤣
Damn right she did. And Tristan couldn't believe his nerdy little brother got her.
@funnyflix895 Stop. It was the Ludlow men who all chased after Susannah.
@funnyflix895Same, she did not need the land, she came from a wealthy family in Boston.
This is the most passionate movie I ever seen loved it
If I was her, the moment he said he was enlisting, I would have taken off the ring and left the very next morning. He said it was the honorable thing to do but he seemed to forget the honorable thing to her, the woman he just got engaged to. Not even bothering to tell her as soon as he decided to enlist. He should have told her before that. That is a terrible way to find out your fiancé is going to enlist.
This film has amazing acting and a bittersweet story to the very end. Thanks for uploading.
Sure, sure. She’s out in the middle of nowhere, with no family & nowhere to go. Easier said than done.
@@bobnunyabiznz4917 She could've gone back to Boston she came by train that's how she could've gone back no one held a gun to her head.
I would've done the same thing all he cares about is being like his daddy & impressing her thinking if he went off to war he'll have something to talk about & have done something with his life. Sam wanted to prove himself his dad didn't want his sons fighting he lived that life & didn't want them to go through the same hardship he did. "Dear Isabelle, today our sons are leaving home to defend an England they have never seen & I'm unable to stop them." Daddy Ludlow didn't even want to talk about war at dinner time "Lets not talk about war at the table please."
Bittersweet? there's nothing sweet about this movie, it's just bitter and tragic
I always had a feeling that Samuel was a bit afraid of getting married. He was always "taken care of" and he was not sure if he would be able to be a husband without testing himself first. He was the youngest of three brothers and the first to get married.
... one of the best classical movies ever
How fine was Brad Pitt in this movie?!!! ❤
Hotness personified ❤
Beyond explanation
Very fine!❤
Even acne scars can't mar his beauty!
Here’s the thing - Savannah should have left the next morning. Sorry, but she was hot for Tristan and SHE knew it. The situation was completely untenable at that point. She was irresponsible. She should’ve bounced.
Way to blame the woman. You didn’t mention one damn thing about Tristan & HIS irresponsibility. That says a lot about you.
@@bobnunyabiznz4917 Why not blame her? She had no business moving in on Tristan when he was vulnerable while he was weeping for his baby bro plus he had PTSD he wasn't himself.
@@catspaw3092 It must be hard for you.
@@bobnunyabiznz4917 You're not answering my question. Must be hard for you.
@@catspaw3092 he had no business trying to move in on her when she was crying about Samuel leaving. Again, you can’t have your cake and eat it too dude.
Dude she moved all that way to the middle of now where and you're just going to leave her to go get killed??
There is a French saying, "He who goes to the chase, loses his place."
Yes ! « Qui part à la chasse, perd sa place »
ptdr
1:34 he has that urge to bite that neck!! Oh wrong movie
Yesss! Good catch ! 😂
Beautiful film and soundtrack
Oh the movie where whole family passes around only one woman lol
She passed herself around she never banged Sam she banged Tristan then goes onto marry Alfred whom she didn't love she should've went back to Boston after Tristan sent her that kiss off letter.
Isn’t that only two men
🤣😂😀🤦🏽♀️
Its kinda like the Smurfs, only in Montana
Not true colonel Lunlow didn't do anything to her
I think Tristian’s explanation of his parents’ relationship describes him and Susannah as well in that it was more about the idea of what their relationship was above everything else. Had Samuel survived I think the outcome would’ve remained the same in that Tristian still would’ve married Isabella II
Nah. It was much more than that.
Their mother really didn't like living out in the wilderness she's an extrovert while Colonel Ludlow was an introvert. Plus his years of working for the government & serving in the war really turned him off to people in general his wife likes the social life so instead of getting a divorce they separated he lives his life with their sons in Montana while she goes to live in the city & be surrounded by high society & society in general. I see why daddy Ludlow favors Tristan he & Tristan are alike they hate being in crowds they like living their own life hence why he gets frustrated with Sam & Al they're very much like their mother. He wants to keep his sons safe & have them understand what the real world is like & getting involved with the govt never amounts to anything good.
I think Tristan’s description of his parents relationship parallels Susanna and Samuel. That was a relationship that was good on paper but not in terms of compatibility. Tristan and Susanna were compatible, the timing was off. Tristan needed to heal. Sometimes it’s the timing that ruins relationships with real potential.
@@j.rising7286 Tristian never seemed to display anything beyond physical attraction to her. He bonded with her over their shared loss but I don’t think he saw her as anything beyond a friend with benefits. It wasn’t until he reconnected with Isabel II that he found someone who he really connected with
@@MegaSheen15 I agree. I think it was more a physical attraction for Tristan toward Susanna, and I think the same with Susanna toward him, but also because Tristan was more masculine than Samuel. At the beginning, Samuel tells Tristan how Susanna is intelligent and full of interesting ideas that drew Samuel to her, that he loved about her, but I don’t know that Tristan would have appreciated those qualities in her as Samuel would have. It’s such a great movie, beautifully filmed and great soundtrack.
You know damn well why Samuel went to war. Lol, Tristan was gonna get her whether he was there or not.
Ehm... no, why did he go to war?
Because he wanted to prove to everyone that he was more than just the baby brother.
She went through all 3 of those men. Great movie though!
Went from the youngest to the oldest
Did you follow the plot? It explains why.
And Sean Connery and Richard Gere too!
Only to off herself later. Miserable life
She is a champion
Thankfully Tristan is here to pick up his brothers slack!
Brad pitt♥️
Although Tristan was physically attracted to Susanna, he was never "in love" with her, but he did care about her. Even though Alfred was disappointed with Tristan for making a move on their brother's fiancé, I think Alfred was really upset that Tristan "made the first move." Susanna, unfortunately, seemed more infatuated with Tristan than in love. Susanna was very delusional about her relationship with Tristan. What annoyed me the most with Susanna is that she ignored Tristan's grief. It's one thing to not know how to console a grieving person. It's another thing when you don't acknowledge their pain. Susanna constantly hovered over Tristan rambling about their non-existent future. Not one time did Susanna ever ask Tristan about his feelings regarding Samuel's death. Nor give him encouragement regarding his guilt over Samuel's death.
Tristan came on to her first. Yet people treat him like the hero. He betrayed his own brother.
He didn't come on to her where do you see that other than him cupping her face? He really shouldn't have done that.
It was the bear
🤣🤣🤣@@smusse091
He has pretty privilege😀
Tristan must to have enjoyed to be with Susannah 😋. She's beautiful.
Julia's hair when we first see her is so gorgeous very wavy, free she was so happy when she gets to see the Ludlow's world. But years later her hair has lost it's waviness, more straight, pulled back into a tight pun when she's at the party Alfred was throwing.
Interesting movie ❤
First time Tristan smelled a woman
😁🤣😂😀🤦🏽♀️
Ya mean there were no women in Montana? Lol
@@catspaw3092 you don’t get it. Susannah is a cultivated woman, an English rose. That is why she captured the three brothers, becaus she is different from the local women.
@@MaevaStardust I will say Julia never looked so beautiful especially when her hair is full & has ringlets in them. Notice the transformation of her hair once she enters into Alfred's new world?
Did she really not want him to go though? Lol

Hard to respect Tristan in this scene…
So Alfred sees this woman who was married to his brother kiss his other brother and goes ahead and marries her after she couldn’t keep either of them. He did this to himself. Should’ve just looked for a brand new woman.
This passage from the book makes this scene so much more complex and multidimensional:
[Susannah, seeking refuge from the barbed noble intentions of her equally young groom-to-be, finds Tristian in his room expressing his own confusion through the catharsis of the coloring book his papa made for him after Tristian was donkey-kicked in the head at 8-years-old whilst attempting to milk a male mule. But alas, despite his father’s attached gift of crayons, Tristian’s dogshit brain overlooked the purpose of the coloring book, which was titled, “A Coloring Book for Scramblehead,” in Apache blood, and so everyone just went along with that narrative for the continued happiness of imbecilic Tristian. When Susannah became vulnerable in the presence of this invalid Tristan, he immediately began whispering in her ear, “Shhhhh. Shhhh. Try some of this mashed roofie baby food papa feeds me every night, DooDannah. Deeeeeerrrrp.”]

i don't get how people see this movie as romantic...........he's making a move on his younger brother's fiance. she isn't exactly resisting
younger brother dies, then both brothers try to go for her? none of them look good, except for the youngest brother who was killed. the rest seem trashy
Romantic doesn’t mean happy ending or true love.
