I remember watching this movie just after my mother had died. She was 75 years old and this whole bit just hit me like a giant wake up call. And if I ever slacken I just watch it again....like now!
Its nice to see so many are blessed by this clip. And today it was my mother's turn to go. She did not waste her years. Thank you, Mom. Fairwell. -DeeJay849-
Hearing this made me realize, i take my life for granted. I never realized the tiny amount of time we have, this is a real reality check for kids like me. DONT TAKE THINGS FOR GRANTED.
The problem is, it’s not really your fault. The powers that be constructed our “society” to be like this in order to help them gain power and keep us controlled. I don’t mean this as some hippy dippy lefty, I’m just telling you what I’ve observed
As One/1% , this must be said more because people of the world 🌎 has lost their minds and there is no truth anymore. We demand that Eddie Murphy in a Positive loving way create "Holy Man 2 and Move Forward into Eternity Wealth and Happiness.
Love this movie. I'm paraphrasing here, but when he asks why more people enjoy watching a building being destroyed than marveled at a building being built, it was very interesting.
The harsher reality is that, no matter what you do, you're going to pass away regardless of if you lived a good life or not. So don't obsesss over needing to "live more". Just live and do the best you can✌
G knew he was in good health he stayed on purpose to help goldblum G knew he would do the right thing eventually and used the time to inspire sometimes someone is more than just a friend passing through
What lots of people not know, is, Mr Murphy wasn't acting in this scene. It's actually him, not doing a scripted monologue, but had a message in mind for the actual audience of the movie. Nowadays, more people happen to understand it, finally. And it actually works, even when you're not a celebrity, even when you feel like the most unlucky person in the world, even if you have to think about every coin in your purse, it works the same for all of us. Just listen to this man, and try to inhale all he is saying, try to feel and understand and adept every word he is saying. And very soon your life WILL change in a way you wouldn't believe it could.
Let this fact sink in: Eddie Murphy turned down the role of Detective James Carter (the lead won over by Chris Tucker), because he was more interested and dedicated to this film instead. Murphy later regretted it because Rush Hour blew up, and Holy Man was a bomb dud.
That was amazing! I needed to hear this. Funny how you hear things randomly when you really need to hear them. We get so caught up with this subliminal hate and diversity that life has become surreal, numbing... this was so well said... thank you
I bought the dvd for this film in late 2003 and didn't watch it till this week. i have to say, this has to be on my top 10 great actor but terrible films list.
the difference between 85 and 75 is small. Also it talks about average, you probably know many more people who didn’t make it to that age.. The idea behind it is to enjoy the actual very small amount of time in our lives with things that are meaningful to us
@@SirCruxful Not at all. You cannot say that there are not a few good years between 75 and 85. That is 10 years! The average person wouldn’t give up 10 years of their life, because its ‘small’. A lot can be achieved in that time.
This needs to be played on everyone's phone everyday. Don't waste time, love more, connect more, hate less.
I could not agree more
lol it literally is now, it’s being used as a tiktok background
@@Robby_Rob I love that, everybody deserves to hear this message of inspiration and encouragement!

This is 15 years old. Wish I would have seen it then because Eddy is dead on right. Best advice I’ve seen in years.

G what a character, Eddie Murphy is great in this role.
A hit & miss film, but loved Eddie's Murphy performance.

I love this film. The message is important and very relevant in this day and age when many are so obsessed with superficial things.

You have no clue just how much I needed to hear this.
I love the truth behind the film, advertising execs / businessmen etc exploiting the greater things in life for money.
Wow! Extraordinary lesson of life !🙏
How can this movie get so much hate when Eddie Murphy is spitting facts
All I see in this character is Tony Robbins.

Agreed, cherish each year of your life. You only live once.
If that's Eddie Murphy he's 12 years away from ending his 75 years

Don’t affirm 75 years. Affirm more. Why does he look so much younger. What is his fountain flowing from? Hmmmm
Easy to preach about getting your head out of the rat race when you are already rich
I know a lot of 85 86 year olds. Its depressing to limit your hopes of living to 70. Maybe too much of a
'know it all' film.
