For anybody that's trying this recipe I recently made a chicken pot pie myself and use cream of celery the result was phenomenal. You got to try it anybody out there
Tip: wet the rim with just a little water, before you place the top on it. As you crimp the 2 pastries together with a fork, the 2 layers will stick together better in the oven.
Raised in a family of 9, mom was always making meals with the basics. When the kids thought there was nothing to eat, mom could create a table full of food. Thanks for sharing this and i plan to make a turkey pot pie for the hunting camp using your recipe.
Same for me. My mother could whip up anything. I hope you enjoy it! Thanks for watching! 😊
@@HowDoYouCookBackToBasics your mom was a smart woman, cooking back in the days was ok, we had farms, now no farms just labs. We all love to eat, I like what you made it look tasty, we all have to look out for each other, the world has so many problems with viruses, among long term COVID. God bless you all
Yes I do the same after holidays using turkey! 😂 You can’t taste the difference! Great way to use leftovers!
I am making this again tonight. I have already made it 3 times since I found your channel about a month ago. LOL We love it! I made it exactly as you did with the exception of 1 cup cream of chicken and the other half cup as cream of mushroom to give it another vegetable and I add a splash of milk. Thank you so much for this simple and tasty recipe. Definitely better than store bought! My husband is very finicky and he loves it!! Thank you again for sharing this recipe with us all!
After making a few times I now add a whole tsp of pepper and 2 tsp of celery flakes and I use Pillsbury Pie crust (in refrigerator aisle) for bottom and top crusts. I recommend this recipe highly!! She's my kind of cook!❤
Looks great. You cook the way we like to cook and eat! You're adorable. Thanks for posting!
You’re too kind! 😊 Thank you!
This is an amazing quick recipe. You don't have to spend a ton of time to end up with an amazing potpie
It really is!
If you have high blood pressure, be careful with all the can goods, dilute with water. Look at the sodium from each can you use for the pot pie. It is very high. Just don't eat this all the time.
We make this just like your recipe, we also alter it a bit and cook in sauce pan and then pour over warm bisquits. Yummy! We usually make on colder nights. 😊
Looks delicious. Only thing I would do different is use a rotisserie chicken.
Sounds great! I'm gonna do that next time.
Canned chicken is so much more tender.
Unfortunately rotisserie chicken was 10 dollars at the grocery store yesterday.
@@kathaleenrossi9577 it’s 4.00 @ Costco.
Perfect with leftover Turkey from Thanksgiving or Christmas
Most definitely! 🤤

Damn! This is exactly what I was looking for. We're a working family and I don't have a lot of time to make meals. I'm going to make a seafood version and sub the chicken for crawfish and shrimp. Great simple video. Normal everyday folks cook like this during the week.
SOUNDS AMAZING!!! Thank you for being here and commenting on the video! 😊
Would an egg wash around the crust rim help insure the top n bottom crust to adhere tightly?
You are absolutely gorgeous.
Great idea for the pie.

What ever you use, fresh, frozen, canned or rotisserie, if you want to give it an awesome presentation, make it in a cast iron pan. It's lovely.

Thank you, Jolie! 🥰
As soon as I heard your accent, it was a dead giveaway the food was going to turn out excellent lol👍

@@HowDoYouCookBackToBasics ..update.. it turned out so good I ate the whole thing within a day lol. It had that “just like mom used to make it” taste to it.👌
I am so glad you enjoyed it! Thank you so much for letting me know! 😊
A half can cearm of celery a half can cream of mushroom soup and a little fresh flat leaf parsley and fresh basil about two tbsp each with rotsserie chicken make sure to use legs and thighs for richer taste plus chicken bullion cubes s dissolved in hot water
Do you make your own crust?
I bet that is sooooo good! I'd eat most of it. Nothing better than a woman who can cook.
It is good! Thanks for watching! 😊
Hey yall
🤣
Great video, I’m going to try it, but add onions, celery, garlic,
Excellent recipe and an excellent idea to go back to cooking the basics, especially since in the USA consuming so much pre-cooked food that contains too many chemicals and preservatives is affecting our health.
And to improve your recipe, I would recommend cooking your own chicken (breasts) it is very easy and you save the preservative chemicals that they put in the tin. As easy as putting the breast with water to cover them, a bay leaf and a clove of garlic (optional since the vegetables and the soup will give it flavor).
The same with the vegetables, it is better to eat the frozen ones (they already come in a mix) because they preserve their properties more, since they are frozen fresh, at the time of harvesting and in your recipe, they would be cooked in the oven, if it were another recipe, they would be put in boiling water for a few minutes until tender.
These simple steps that help to eat better (with less chemicals) do not take more work than putting them in water for a few minutes to cook.
Greetings and thanks for encouraging the new generations to eat better since the USA, unlike other developed countries, has a greater number of rare diseases and let's not talk about obesity and all due to the chemicals in the food we eat daily (if you eat them occasionally when no problem)
Greetings.
I’m going to make this with my left over Turkey !
I’m also using puff pastry for the top!
Thank you for that easy recipe! You are right who has the money for all those extras?? Thank you again, I will be making this tonight with leftover Turkey.
You are so welcome! I hope you enjoy the recipe. Thanks for watching!
@@HowDoYouCookBackToBasics Yes it turned out great and we ate the entire meal. Thank you again.
I would suggest some poultry seasoning. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll try that. 😊
Imma due a Crab/Shrimp/Seafood one.
I'm making this for the 3rd time for my 2 grown sons and husband. They absolutely love it. So easy for me as a busy momma. I do use rotisserie instead of canned even though I have canned in my cupboard. I buy 3-4 rotisseries at a time and clean them and freeze them for cooking with. I may try, based on some of the comments, to use some cream of celery with the cream of chicken to see if it changes the flavor much. Have you tried that too?
I’m so glad you are enjoying the recipe. Yes, I’ve tried cream of celery with the cream of chicken. It’s good that way too. Thank you so much for watching and for your amazing comment! 🥰
I make a ton of Chicken and Mushroom pies also Curry Chicken pies. Very nice indeed Y’all.
Thank you so much! 🥰
don't know about the food but that accent is kickass
Thank you so much! 😊
