William Shatner - Washington (1973)

  • 80% of the audio in this US Government film had to be deleted due to copyright claims. (USA!! USA!!)) But this interesting 16mm film was made by the City of Washington, DC to promote itself and stars William Shatner as our tour guide. This film was shot before the completion of the NASM on the Mall, but it includes an interesting visit at 12:15 to the National Air Museum which used to reside in a Quonset Hut located on the South Yard which contained the classic American aircraft as well as the Command Module Columbia and LEM2 at that time. When the NASM was built for the Bicentennial the National Air Museum was demolished. Enjoy!

Friend of mine had this to say about the video:
"In a few books Shatner has written that I have, he said these were the EXTREMELY lean years where he was barely getting any work. Freshly divorced after the series went off the air, he was acting in traveling theater, taking any job he could get. Broke, hungry, giving his ex and kids most of the money he made.
He made enough money to buy an old 1950s camper that he attached to a truck and lived in that. Didn’t even have an apartment or home. Taking literally any television guest star job he was offered. That’s why you see him in such random shit in the 70s. He said he lived off canned fruit cocktail and canned beans.
He still has that Captain Kirk original series voice in this. The same voice on the Star Trek Animated Series cartoons (which are underrated)."

Comi cons and other appearance gigs must be a blessing to many actors, bringing in extra cash when they have gaps in roles .Im sure pay cheques were a lot less in those days than they are now hence the amount of B movies or TV series many well known actors appeared in.

While I agree that uncensored versions of all of Fran's old films should be uploaded to the Archive, that's far from "problem solved."
The problem of egregious, mostly unjustified, automated claims against both use of audio and video clips on CZcams would continue.
The problem of Fran receiving any compensation for the time and effort put into making, carefully color-correcting, and uploading these transfers would definitely remain unsolved. 😕 I don't expect her to work for free, and while she may love being able to share these, she's never downplayed the effort involved in doing it. Some people can afford to do very time-intensive things for free, and some can't. That's just how our society is, unfortunately.

      virtualdj help /stems
Stems' refers to the individual parts of a track that put together make the song, such as the vocals, the instruments, the drums, etc.
VirtualDJ 2021 uses advanced technology and the power of today's computers to instantly separate any loaded track into these basic components, in real-time. This opens the door to new ways of mixing that were simply not possible before, and will forever change the way DJs mix. Weither to perform live mashups and remixes, or enhanced seemless transitions, mixes made by DJs using VirtualDJ 2021 just sound better than what can be achieved on older software or hardware, no matter the DJ's skills.

Once the original rights holder (who has to be a real person...corporations can't write or perform music) sells the rights or dies, limit the secondary owner to 20 years and then it's public domain. No renewal or reinstatement for a longer period after first sale or conveyance of rights.
Music isn't so damn special that its rights holders can stop the incidental use of it for a century or more.

You just don't get it do you? Its not that Fran just wants to show this one film in its original form, she is protesting against her predicament. What Fran is doing (at least what I think she is doing) is making these videos and doing what she has now been trained to do (via the system trying to punish her for using the music in old films she owns) as a way to satirize (make fun of) the effects of this situation she is in. She is going 'Ok, I can't use the music so there see how you like it, nyah nyah!!' And I do think it is quite hilarious to watch a film like this one where she has done that. But this has gotten me thinking. Yes, she should do like this, but I think she should take it to another level. She should do something like record all the clips of the music she has taken out (just for her personal use), and rerecord them but instead of the original music, she would play a kazoo or something and try to recreate the music but make it sound really sour with a kazoo or an untuned piano or something. And then insert that back into the video at those places where you had to remove the music (but then I am assuming they couldn't still get her for copyright infringement just for playing the music on a kazoo). And everyplace she replaced the score with her own music, instead of saying "Music Removed Due To Copyright", she could say "Music Re-scored By Fran Blanche Due To Copyright". And then, with this new video with all the music (without narration) cues taken out and replaced with kazoo music, you should publish this video on twitter or something. If it went viral, then she might actually make such a splash that maybe it could result in some kind of legislation or something to prevent this type of thing (getting screwed by trolls based on copyrights) from happening. But yeah, I think it might really be a hit. And if someone saw it and pointed it out to Bill Shatner, that might really improve the odds of having some effect.👍

It would have been much better to remove the music and leave the speech audio. Using a filter like you can do with removing the singing from a song and leaving the music intact but in reverse.

CZcams software can add auto captioning to most, but not all, videos where the actual content creator is speaking.
