It is absolutely the case that the carbon tax is having a harsh impact on the lives of ordinary people. The thing I cannot understand is: why isn't anyone questioning the basis of the tax. For example where is the evidence this tax will adjust the climate in any way?
An even bigger question is why hasn't anyone in the media attempted to debunk the claim that CO2 is responsible for global warming?
The evidence to the contrary is very powerful. Read the book Evidence Based Climate Science by Easterbrook (et al) for clarification.

Carbon taxes have nothing to do with the climate. It's just another government cash grab because Trudeau refuses to do business with our friends like Germany, Japan, and now Greece. So he will keep making us pooerer and make us pay more. His new guests to Canada live in hotels. They need housing. Guess who gets to pay for it?

    • @salicia4800
      @salicia4800 Před 2 měsíci

@@TerryKnight-hw3pg That will never happen. Here's why. "CO2 causes climate warming" is a new religion. "Climate deniers" are the modern day equivalent of heretics, but instead of being burned at the stake they are ridiculed and may lose their jobs. It even has an apocalyptic vision. That is why it isn't questioned in the media.

What is really is sad is we used to be able to rely on the government to do what was in the best interest of the country as a whole and to rely on the news corporations(CBC) to report non-bias news to the people. Canada used to be a beloved country by all other countries around the world. Now we are a complete and utter joke to all other countries. We used to the happiest and most friendly country and so very proud to me Canadians.
Liberal party can argue all they want about doing the right thing but since Justin Trudeau's 9 year reign of PM we have made a complete 180 degree turn in the above mentioned. I don't see us bouncing back from this in a very long time.
Very sad time for Canadians everywhere.

I had 23,873 respondents and 83% said they never got back any carbon tax money from Trudeau.
Then a guy on CZcams ran a poll too. He had 24,000 respondents and 84% said never have received any carbon tax money back from Trudeau.
So 44,000 respondents and 83.5 out of every 10 Canadians don’t get these carbon tax cheques from Trudeau.
So Trudeau should be saying that over 80% of Canadians don’t get a refund of any kind.
The fact that two polls were run with virtually the exact same results I would say these polls are accurate

The real April Fools joke is the 23% - that's not how much more you're going to pay as a consumer, that's the minimum % each production and handling step will increase in cost.
    Adding 23% + 23% + 23% + 23% + 23% doesn't equal 23%
Taxed at every step, sometimes you even pay a tax on the tax using the portion of your income that's left after all the taxes 🇨🇦

Yes, our natural gas could cut emissions vs. coal by 50% to other countries. I was part of a group 20 years back ready to launch gasification plants to provide all the electricity we could ever need. Brian talks about 50% saving in overall emission using gas, get this: Take a coal plant belching out it's black smoke from 4 stacks, reduce these emissions by a whopping 98.5%, thus generate only 1.5% of the usual emission per plant. Let's round it off, instead of reducing emission by 50%, we'd reduce them by almost 99%!
Plus, we could generate electricity and/or synthetic gas (roughly 10x purer than natural gas), whatever is needed. Want to clean up the plastics in our oceans? What to do with millions of old tires? Both are fantastic fuel for our plants. Clean, affordable, abundant and even slightly mobile plants, what's not to like? Environmental groups shut us down at our town halls. Unreal, I thought we were looking for practical, applicable solutions? Chief engineer of our group warned me about environmental groups various agendas, I thought he was exaggerating, sadly he wasn't. Never in a million years was I expecting them to be our problem, but they were. Is it time to move forward now? Especially if Poilievre becomes PM? Would be nice.
If someone wants to call gasification incineration, please don't. They are very different processes at much different temperatures (1,700 vs. 6,600 degrees) plus using carbon capture during the gasification process.

We are being run as a corporation, but the shareholders, which are the people, are suffering. The board members are making plenty of bonuses. They don't have the taxes we pay. The government employees are getting raises too. 16 years of carbon taxes and is it helpful?

Welcome to Saskatchewan, Brian. Justin cut out provinces all the way back to our Brad Wall days. I remember when the premiers were all gathered for tge first day of meetings on the environment with and McKenna only to hear that Justin gave a press conference about the carbon tax that he was implementing. Brad Wall caught the first flight home - no point in wasting time on a sham negotiation. Nothing has changed.
We need to get back to following the constitution diligently and enforcing our laws without bias.

Toronto Sun. Please start shining a light on the "Century Initiative." The 100 million population mandate to be reached by 2100 for Canada (endorsed by our current PM and his cabinet). This policy is an existential threat to our country, it's prosperity and it's citizens well-being.

It's nice you don't have comments turned off like the CBC, says it all. New families deserve the freedom to buy a home, feed their kids, take the kids out to get ice cream and to travel and show their kids this vast country and educate them what being a Canadian is all about. Looking out for the less fortunate.

The plebes in power keep saying that 80% of Canadians will get back more than they put in. Why hasn't anybody asked who the other 20% is??? My thoughts: 80% of Canadians lives in cities. They probably have access to public transportation. Many do not have vehicles. Are these the 80% that get more back? Rural people do not have access to services that urban people do, so they have to drive to get to these services. 20% of Canadians are paying for the 80%'s rebate!!!

Want to know why your food cost so much? A farmer growing grain plows his fields after the winter and before he plants the seed to grow the grain. He pays carbon tax on the fuel he uses. Then he uses a disc to break up the soil and pays carbon tax again. Then he uses a cultivator to break the soil up finer. He pays carbon tax again. Then he plants the fields by pulling a seed drill. Pays carbon tax again. Then he probably fertilizes the freshly seeded fields. Pays carbon tax again. When the grain is ready he uses a combine to take the crop off and pays carbon tax again. The crop has to be hauled from the field to the grain bins or silo for storage and then loaded on a truck and hauled to the mill. Carbon tax again! If the crop is corn it is usually dried before taken to the mill and the dryer uses propane to dry the corn so it isnt mushy and can be stored or taken to the mill dry. All these steps take fuel and consequently carbon tax. These are the steps that Trudeau doesnt tell people about why his carbon tax definitely negatively affects the price of our food!

If kids need a food program. How did they get to this point in time in the first place. If people go to the food bank for help. That should tell a clear minded person they are creating the problem in the first place.
instead of school programs, They should support the food bank because these are the people they are trying to help with the food program. Just like the government to create a problem, then splash wasteful spending to try and fix it.

The part of climate change that is not calculated it is the ability of Canada's natural and agricultural biomes to sequester Carbon. There is the capacity for Canada's country side and wilderness will sequester 4 to 6 times the worlds total emissions every year. So I ask you where is the problem?
