To all the people hating the kit cz of its triggers or missing hits on the ride let me tell you something as a owner of this kit.... Use the module 🤣 is as simple as that you can customize it as you please and I don't have any problems with it, I changed a lot of the standard sensitivity etc... and it sounds and plays AMAZING , snobs 😆

Do you know any good links to tuning the kit? Was gonna get this due to the hardware and then plug in on my own sounds but don't know how to tune the sensitivity of the triggers.

It helps when you are selling a product to put a salesperson behind it that will help sell it. This video doesn't do much justice for this kit I'll just say that. People saying the kit sounds awful because no one spent the time to create a good kit and fix the trigger and sensitivity settings. I've had this kit for two weeks now and I am still tweaking my first custom kit. These things suck right out of the box.. but if you know how to dial them in they will sound amazing.

based on comments in just about every drum review ever made, people often don't judge sounds, they judge brands. I'm sure a lot of Yamaha or Roland lovers would hate sounds from their own brand, when they're told these sounds come from an Alesis drum machine. Not everyone of course, but let's be honest, as is the case with everything, there's a lot of snobbism involved. My brand is the best!

    • @HellcatCustoms

Yep, drummers are bigger cork sniffers than guitar players. I guess they need to justify paying 3x the price for their kits 🤷

@@amusic9825 it really depends on the module, and I’d say this kit is awesome for using in different softwares instead, of course the built in sounds are gonna be awful! They always are!

@@smarkmalark exactly! Who cares what the built in sounds are like when you can just add your own😂. It is by no means worth it to fork out £1.5k on a roland just to get some small pads, no bell sound a ride and some better sounds...

I have the alesis crimson 2 ( not this special edition) and love it. People talk shit on everything and anything but it fits my double kick sounds killer in my headphones but not out of a speaker. Lots of people have problems with the cymbal choke but it is mild I would say. They are nothing like a real cymbal even the 3 zone ride which the Roland brand does better. The only difference in this set is the type of mesh drum heads. That's the worst part of alesis I think even over sound since everyone that has an electric drum set is using a daw and vst. But alesis does this very small changes in kits from there nitro to command to the crimson and crimson 2 and now se.

The sound is also very determinant on the amp and speaker used. Agree - garbage in, garbage out, however I couldn’t fault these sounds and sound is a very personal thing anyway. I’ve listened to music though some top end speakers and headphones and these are not the most pleasing to me.

  • @Dmsevertube
    @Dmsevertube Před 2 lety +1

I watched a lot of videos, including yours, thanks! Great video that helped me choose my e-kit. Very cool!
But I have a problem you could maybe help me with: when I press the pedal to play a closed hat, not one sound (tss) is played, but two (tss-tss), one after the other. Not every pedal press, but often. Moreover, this happens more often if I press the pedal more slowly. This muddies up the sound. It's called a "double actuation" of the trigger.
I know this happens with electronic drums sometimes. The instructions for Yamaha even have a section on how such a problem can be eliminated. But in ALESIS CRIMSON II SE there are no such items in the settings menu.
I went to a service center, and a representative shelves me connect my pedal to the same kit - and double actuation persisted. Moreover, this is observed even on the COMMAND MESH KIT (lower tier model). For a change, they put my pedal on COMMAND and a pedal from COMMAND on CRIMSON II - double actuation occurred in each combination.
This is some kind of general software issue. Have you or anyone else faced such an issue and how can it be fixed?

  • @davidbergewaytogo

Sounds like this would be a great kit to trigger drum software over MIDI!
Just wondering, what would a real-life experienced drummer be missing in terms of features with this kit? For general drum playing (pop, rock, jazz... no double bass playing, no speed metal). Other than the simulated high-hat pedal, of course? It looks like a pretty complete kit to me... I mean, in terms of trigger zones on the pads and cymbals? Anything missing or that could be a deal breaker that I might be missing?

I think the bass drums bounces too much even if you dont hit it hard, because of the mesh pad, that's a downside of it! I can clearly hear it, it sounds triplets ,but it doesn't sound good.. The mesh bounce too much 😪
